It gets very frustrating when people just spam different panic moves and randomly catch you even if you try to be safe.
It's inevitable - accept that you're gonna get hit by those and play around them the next time!

Focus on punish if that’s an issue for you, you’ll do a lot better

@@kinderi92 like momo dog says it is inevitable. I'm not giving you a 100 percent solution, if the opponent is mashing, they will be in minus frames which you can counter with plus frames aka punish. Be patient, you can do it.

This is what I needed. My combo dmg kinda medium, my movement a little above average, defense I say is my strongest suit, but my frame traps are lacking and I feel like it makes a huge difference for dvj in the low ranks.
I reached shinryu today! T8 is the first tekken I started playing online properly. I’m thoroughly enjoying playing as Devil Jin! Gonna follow your guides to elevate my Devil Jin even though my execution is ass 😂

Your videos have been insanely useful as a new DJ player swapping over from Kazuya. Do you think you can make a guide fighting more tricky characters at lower ranks like Hwoarang using DJ?
hmmm I'd have to think about how to execute such an idea thoroughly, I'll definitely keep it in mind
Hwoarang has to be in your face to apply his pressure so I'd recommend to keep him at a distance. If he manages to corner you, dick jab stops many of his options, which you can follow up with ws4 to create some space and if it hits even start your own offence. Also, at least in my experience, low rank Hwo's eat b3 all day long. They love to mash too much.
Ff2 being a hit engager is crazy, reach blue rank with kazuya and devil jin basically spamming ff2 or hellsweep.

Still won the 2/3 against him though. Figured I'd look up videos like this one before I continue my ranked grind with DJ. This video will really help!
this is my first tekken game and so far ive learned 6 characters guna try to learn all of them but devil jin by far has been the hardest been struggling to consistenly do hellsweep in match in practice im fine feels like i need to wavedash on command to be effective

More a general question with a slight DJ edge, close to reaching red ranks now, and would you say this is the point wavedashing and KBD become a necessity? Progress is slowing quite a bit. Thanks for all the tips since release!
I don't think wavedashing is necessary until you wanna break through intermediate level of play, KBD is always useful
Hit red like 2 weeks ago, neither is necessary I have friends in ruler that can't do either. But being able to chain 2 or 3 kbds is helpful

I'd say check the top 10 moves department of said guide and try to make use of those moves first, EWGF is not a necessity for a beginner :)

Im gonna quit ranked for a bit to study the entire roster. I will try my best to play alot of different characters, but I feel like I cannot learn anyones moves just fighting them. You guys have a good way to learn characters? Im just gonna go and practice the characters combos and strings, looking at their frame data. Any info out there to make this journey more bearable would be greatly appreciated 😂
are you trying to learn how to play every character or how to beat every character?
the best way to learn about the characters is to play online, but play for defense. if you run into something you dont understand then take it into practice mode and lab it.
if youre trying to learn how to play the whole roster just don't. youre just going to make yourself mediocre at every character instead of really good at a few.

My problem is I cannot for the life of me learn to recognize character strings no matter how many times I fight them.
Leo for example, I can never recognize any of his lows and end up fuzzy guarding and praying I dont get mixed. But for every character I've ever tried learning, I can almost see what move is gonna come out because I also do those mixups/know the strings.
I'm not trying to master every character, but in MK games this was the only way I could learn to fight against characters I didnt know. It just seems so much more daunting cause Tekken has way more moves than MK ever did.
I have only played Tekken 7 and 8 for a total of 400 hours and am in Garyu, but I just cant rank up further because all these moves look so alien to me.
I probably wont learn combos, but I will learn strings and mixups everyone uses/their best pokes and frames. If u have any resources out there that show these I would appreciate it.

How do u unlock the white and black wings and is there a skin with DJ wearing normal Jin clothes like in story?
Sadly both of those are not possible right now. I hope one day in an update or DLC release they will add it. His wings are a mod in this video and there is no way to have normal clothes on devil jin besides possibly another mod.

I’m fujin, and certain characters I never jab against because they launch me for it way too much. For example, Paul, Ling, Steve, raven, Jun, azucena, Leo, Reina, these guys destroy me when I jab.
Spam laser since everyone in low ranks just holds back or jabs and never crouches unless it's a king doing alley kicks for the millionth time. Nah but for real good video.

If you're actually talking about f4,3 then don't use it. Ever.
@@MegaCityGhost what makes the move so bad? F4 is 15 startup and minus 12 on block and the f4 3 can give you an 80 damage combo if you can hit confirm f4 is also a mid this is my first tekken so I’m not sure about frame data
@@presenceofkami9009pretty sure it doesn't combo naturally, only counter hit. set the dummy to block all for the second action.
@@presenceofkami9009 It's not really hit confirmable. For it to be natural combo, you need to dial it in. If you delay it even slightly when trying to confirm, it ceases to be natural, i.e. they can block the second hit even if the first one hit. At which point you're -22. It may work on people in low ranks, but intermediate and higher no one uses it.

when to use EWGF? is it even necessery ?
You can use EWGF where a jab would hit, or as a whiffpunish, or as a blockpunish
It's pretty much a jab on crack, or a Steve b1 that also counter hits movement, to give somewhat of an analogy
An EWGF would have been so effective, it would be overkill. But since EWGF is considered higher execution, and Momo-Dog in his graciousness is teaching lower ranked players strategies that they can feasibly put into action right now, he didn’t use EWGF. Mind you if we saw him mix up 1,1 and EWGF in neutral in these videos it would have been a total massacre lol

Im new player but, the best way to get out of low ranks is using throws... until purple ranks noone knows how to block. That explain a lot of things and I think is the worst way to learn
thats the easy way out but will also just lead you into plateuaing yet again, method in the video is very sustainable for the future
