"Even the people closest to you and trust most" and it's a girl he met that day lmao.
Snickers is a good idea.
I'm sorry but that first story is heartbreaking. Who knows what sentimental value that sword had. The son is a real piece of work for selling it. Kids can definitely suck.
The writer of this story although in his rights to keep, appeared as if he were gloating. Everything about what was said and wasn't said is cringe.
May that old man find peace.
I have to agree
Yeah, felt really bad for the elderly man.
Should've returned his prized possession... And every personal item like that needed to be approved by that ole man...
Yep, the guy who bought it sounded like a real piece of work. It meant so much to him because he bought it cheap. Unlike the old man who had a real connection to it.
I was wondering if someone else would pick up on that, too. Between the lines, the OP in the 1st story sounds (to me) like a very unpleasant, grasping character - and yes, I did get the impression that he was gloating about it all. Calling the old man a 'crazy old man' is very revealing.
Glad other people mentioned story 6. Just blatantly laughing in their faces, mocking them for their interests. Not only that but then going off and pushing her opinion in, really goes to show how she is as a person. Not a single ounce of pity. Karma does exist.
Yeah all a big nope. Can you imagine being their neighbors at Halloween? 😬
*I was hoping the customers turned out to be ghosts and she would have seen them vanish into thin air.*
If someone humiliated someone in public like that in Northern Ireland where i live, she would've woken up in hospital with no teeth.
Thankyou for agreeing.
“Ghosts don’t exist. We know all there is in the universe. There are no mysteries to life. Trust me I know.”
People like you are insufferable. Brought to you by the same people as “Believe”.
That person from story 6 is so mean. Laughing in someone’s face? Just say no and move on. No need to be rude.
Ikr, she deserved whatever scare tactics they were giving her, she sounded like a dumb mean knob
Thank you! Some real assholes in the ops this go around.
Realistic vs. rude argument.

Story 6: No matter what way you choose to act or believe in, nobody likes being laughed at. Not surprised if they were angry
Also, just because you haven't experienced anything paranormal yourself, that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I know a lot of educated, sane people who genuinely believe they have experienced something paranormal. Also, the woman in story 6 is right on one thing. She is a jerk.
@@peterlee584 I agree with all of that. I haven’t experienced anything paranormal but I can’t say that on behalf of everyone in the world because I haven’t seen anything. I haven’t been everywhere and neither as she from how she sounded.
@@vaughneaston733 Exactly.
@@peterlee584 "Sane people," if everyone understood how the human brain operates, the narrative of spooky ghouls wouldn't exist. You don't need to be in a straight jacket to have hallucinations, pretty much everyone on earth gets them at some point in their life. The girl in the story is more delusional than them with treating people like that though.
🤣🤣🤣🤣😝
Yeah that chick laughing at the couple wanting some paranormal items pissed me off. Laughing at someone because if their interests is a crappy move. I have no pitty for her
Wack jobs deserved to be mocked for their delusional beliefs.
Agreed. Totally rude.
Same!
Hopefully her experience will have taught her some manners.

The first story he stole the man’s NCO Sword. He was a marine the Eagle globe and anchor that he was talking abt in the story his just said Eagle but I knew right off the bat. He did steal the sword. Because that sword is precious and money can’t buy them it’s priceless to us marines. I know it’s a fake story but prob has happened unfortunately.

He stole a sword that he bought goofy?
The son obvious sold it,not caring what it meant to his dad. The buyer was fortunate he didn't get diced up.
I'm so glad to see literally everyone sympathizes with the poor old man in the first story and can't stand the woman in the sixth one.
You should eat some cheese flavoured cheese.
Story one: you’ll be that “crazy old man” one day and watch as your family sells your stuff telling you it’s junk. It’s then, you will know why he was upset.
so you're an old man? that's how you knew it was wrong of the family?

true.

Who the hell sells an actual sword for $20?! That guy who bought it is a piece of work is lying about feeling remorse.
Exactly.
Yeah as a knife collecter I can tell you, swords, knifes and other paraphenallia of that ilk are EXPENSIVE. Especially if they are handcrafted and made of scecific material. Different metal allows go for a lot.
It’s a yard sale not a collectors sale
He was sorry , that old man tried to kill him damn that’s sad 😞 if the sword meant something to him voice in don’t take a swing at him my gosh
Literally. Like that sword is worth more than $2,000 and is 200 years old. 20 bucks is severely, severely underpriced
So dude in story three hooked up with a Radom girl after meeting her for 2.5 minutes at a yard sale, SLEPT with her, and then was surprised that he literally got robbed blind?
This. Don't feel remotely bad after the way both people behaved. They both sound like garbage.

The old man in the first story wasn't crazy he most likely had dementia, sad and an awful disease, that I watched my Mum die from. I bought her car at market value from her when she was diagnosed. She frequently rang me up screaming that I had stolen her car and she was reporting me to the police. It is no joke 😢
You don’t know them and your not a doctor so objectively speaking your self diagnosis means nothing. But tell me dr Jules what’s the percentage of people with dementia being attempted killers???

Sorry Story 3: that rocker chick that flirted her way into your house wasn't a "monster", she was a thief that conned her way into your home. You were naive and foolish enough to invite someone you didn't even know because you thought it was easy booty. Expensive lesson learned.

Bro for real plus who has a 1 night stand and lets them stay over if they don’t know them for more than 5 mins? Honestly what an idiot. And her name is Moon? like boy come tf on you gonna be back next week with a story about how “Candy” robbed you too? I just can’t with some of these stories
i mean she is still a horrible person its just that OP is a moron.
I’m cracking tf up 😂
@@AshLilyNeko Lmao "Candy" 💀.
Obviously that old man's son sold the sword not knowing it was precious to his father. Any nice person would have seen this, especially after the old man tried getting it back and return it to him .....
You should eat cheese flavoured cheese.
For the 5th story if u and your woman r trying to get intimate in your yard or maybe go skinny dipping in your pool and your neighbor is peeking over trying to watch them yea that’s a nosy neighbor. But if someone’s trying to break into your house and your neighbor goes to see what’s going on and chases the guy away with a bat that’s not a nosy neighbor that’s a great neighbor that u can trust and is looking out for u.
For real lmao if that’s nosy them damn I hope I got some nosy af neighbors
@@AshLilyNeko me too we could all use “nosy” neighbors like that
I love the stark contrast in compassion and kindness between the last two authors. The young lady mocked some poor sap for his morbid curiosity while the guy at least pretended to understand the old lady’s concerns and walked her to her car. Too bad purple suit guy wasn’t at this yard sale.
@@TheGentlemanPsychic ...for real?
@@brianew yes for real. I remember distinctly
For story 3, OP straight up said "Be careful, sometimes the people we're closets with, the people we trust, can be the monsters right under our noses the entire time" after knowing this chick for like 10min and pretty much trusted her with his life basically because she was pretty. 😂
Expensive lesson indeed.
Story 3. Better to stay single. You cannot discern a quality woman from a scammer.
Jerks, should have given the old sword back to the old man. Probably the only thing he cared about! Elderly abuse!
Did he say, “the people we’re closest with”? You mean the random you met at a garage sale that day? Okay.
Yea I had to do a double take when he said that... he didn't even know her so how is it the closet person to you. That man need some friends lol
@SoWhatIDC, I was just thinking that same thing!
The only way she was closest to him was physically. It seems that he wants to sound that he matured and was wiser from the experience, but that line makes him sound the opposite.
Exactly. Like I’ve gotten close with a few people relatively quick, but even that took weeks and months of bonding, not one day lol
Wow! I never rooted for the villains in these stories until heard story 1 and 6
For me, it's the "villain" of #3. That fella earned every bit of his suffering on that one
To be fair, I don’t think the protagonist of story 1 is a bad guy. But the son of the old man is a jerk for selling off all of his stuff and taking advantage of his declining mental health.
@@SOBEKCrocodileGod Consume cheese flavoured cheese.
Yard sale stories is something I never knew I needed until now.
If you want I can find more horror yard sale stories and narrate them lol
My best find at a yard Sale was a vintage Polaroid Camera and it was only $20.
Vintage Polaroid cameras are hard to find.
I have my doubts whether the person making fun of the couple looking for haunted items had a guilty conscience since they were referred to as “freaks” by the end of the story. I guess the experience didn’t scare you enough to stop being a bully.
Reminds me of the Burger King story where a lady got her bf to almost shoot OP in the head because he made a cruel joke and humiliated her. And yet during the story OP is calling her a "hambeast." I doubt these people actually learn.
Came for these. The yardsale hyenas that made sure to also tell all of us that ghosts aren't real were assholes to begin with.
Exactly
Yeah and she’s very arrogant. “Sidebar:ghosts aren’t real.” Please, do tell that to the ghost that was hacking like it had smoker’s lung in my upstairs landing last week, which was heard by 4 different people in my house. PS: that wasn’t the only experience.
Literally came here to say this. This narrator was such an insufferable, rude mean girl I couldn’t help but wish she got worse.
Does anyone else side with the old man in the first story?
I do! Its rather cruel and heartless, The older gentleman is most likely going through the stages of dementia and scared of his own mood swings, depressed by memories slipping etc. why not let him keep his stuff until he slips away completely. The more dangerous items maybe shadow box them and display, where he can see but not quite reach. It would give him a little comfort.
Am I the only one that hopes Karen"no ghosts for you" asshat gets her ass gobbled up by ghosts?🧐😼❤️👻
Guy was probably an old Marine who was very attached to his memorabilia
Definitely i would have handed it right over when i saw the ols man get upset. Im also guessing its a military memento.
I feel terrible for him. Wish he would have been able to get it back and put somewhere where he could look at it at least.
Definitely would've run certain items by the ole man and seen his reaction... senile or not...a person has a right to their prize possessions until they're totally gone...physically OR mentally... I do agree...and I woulda returned the sword...
First story. "Crazy Old Man" Obviously the sword meant a great deal to the man. Who knows where he got it, could've been military, could've been a million other things. His son sounds like a jerk. Swoop in when daddy gets old and starts loosing his memory, sell off all the things he's collected over his many years, take over the house. Complete disrespect of elders. Typical of western culture. Such a shame. I feel bad for the old guy. I guarantee he wasn't in the condition his son was letting on. He managed to find his sword. He may have been diagnosed with some dementia,. typical of old age, doesn't mean he'll go full blown Alzheimer's. Surely didnt mean his son needed to swoop in to take over everything. Good freaking grief. Regardless. That's what home health nurses are for.. what a fkng jerk..I hope that story is fake. Dude deserves some serious karmic justice. And the vulture who bought the sword, he doesn't sound much better
You're completely right. I was so mad listening to how no one showed any compassion for the old man when it was clearly his sword and he didn't wish to sell it. I come from a long line of military on both sides of my family, so needless to say there are a lot of swords. My dad has three, one of which was passed down to him by his father, and he keeps them so safe that I've only seen them twice. I don't know if the old man's sword was military, but the eagle hilt makes me think it was.
I've also experienced the other side of that story first hand. The deplorable treatment of our elders. My great grandpa on my mother's side was a WWII vet who built a modest home on his farm after the war and lived in it for decades. My uncle was supposed to inherit the house when ggpa passed, but he decided to put him in a nursing home and start renovations early so he could start renting it out. Ggpa was 99 and still living independently until then, and he was so devastated. He passed the next year at the age of 100. May he rest in peace.
That sword which is from the civil war era isn’t from his or our time, the description of the sword is an officers sword from the civil war and dude was a POS bc he obviously knew is why he gave $30 instead of $25, I have one that’s a family heirloom and I collect and do metal detecting myself. People don’t realize just what some of those items are worth. Two days ago I dig a Alabama A VC button, worth about $750
@@awarlockunkindlyborn1353that’s so awful. People are so not grateful to their parents. So sad, they didn’t deserve that treatment
I agree. Glad to see other people have commented on what an unsavoury character the writer of the first story was. Calling the vulnerable old guy a 'crazy old man' shows just the type of character he is. Nasty individual. No shred of decency. I didn't like your comment about 'Western Culture' as you will find scoundrels, thieves and scammers anywhere you go - this is down to individual character.
You’re calling someone a jerk while generalizing hundreds of millions of people y implying it’s common for them to take advantage of their old parents. Why is everyone that sided with the oldhead a complete buffoon?
Regarding story two, some of the early birds at my yard sales have been almost as aggressive (but not thieves, thankfully). One lady insisted that the start time was 8am, not 10am (which was in the ad I placed), and angrily argued with me that I was wrong about the time of my own sale so I should let her shop. I always state NO EARLY BIRDS in my ads but people arrive ahead of time anyway and start pawing through merchandise when I'm still setting up and completely ignore me when I say I'm not open for business yet. Sometimes I put up yellow construction tape to keep them out of my yard until it's sale time.
I had a yard sale one time and let my 5 yr old set up a treats and drinks table to make some extra money for dance. I caught ppl ripping her off, a five yr old. Some ppl know no shame.
@@mszuzubookitty4646 That's terrible!! I'm so sorry for you and your daughter.
I’ve had people go under the yellow tape and had to ask them to leave until the start of the garage sale.
@@mszuzubookitty4646 I hope you were able to talk to her about instead of telling her that people are mean. Of course not everyone is. Next time, who knows!
@@cdes1776Maybe confronting the people about their behavior would be a better option, after sending the child inside.
Story 6 is wildddd. Collecting haunted stuff is pretty common I feel like? And how’re you going to laugh in their face when all they did was ask a question you could’ve just been like “no sorry” and went about your day but you made it a point to humiliate a stranger for no reason.
Exactly.
Yeah she was so disgusting
😂
Exactly. Like I just don’t get how people can be so cruel. Like I don’t even tell waiters when my food isn’t right because I feel bad, but people be out here acting like this
Right? What a jerk.
clearly the sword had personal value to the old guy and his son was an ar@e, he should have given it back typical disrespect of the elderly
Yup...until someone is COMPLETELY gone...physically passed on or mentally totally gone...a person has a right to live with their prized sentimental possessions...
@@brettrobinson2901not if it was legally sold off. Most likely he allowed his son to sell it but forgot. That’s no one’s fault but his tho
@@justinholland6132 wrong...his son has a duty to his father if he is caretaker...and one of those duties is understanding what's important to the Ole man and not disposing of his possessions willy-nilly...
I would have allowed my loved one to keep anything that was cherished. I would, however, have kept it secure. If he was violent, which dementia patients can be, I wouldn't want him using it on my family in the middle of the night. I think it was wrong of the son to have him out there watching people pick at the things he's acquired over his lifetime. It would be mental torture for some people, especially when your own child is being so flippant about it. 😔
And then the elderly guy tried attacking the guy who brought it. He clearly wasn't OK.
OP blatantly laughing in those people's faces because of their belief in the supernatural and calling them freaks was rude af and really annoyed me
Lmao then they "made" their bf check all the locks himself
Yeah, what a snob. I'm glad they came back and 'haunted' her! 😄

@@pissapocalypse Exactly
Great topic! I have some thoughts on two stories.
Story 1: I'm not gonna judge since I wasn't there and don't know the situation of the old man or the guy who bought the sword, but the dude really should have returned the it. Like I said, I can't know for sure, but sorely based off what was shared with context clues, it sounds like the old man's sword was really important to him for sentimental reasons and that the grandson should not have sold it. While trying to kill another man for it is an overreaction, I have no doubt this was his due to his degrading mind. Feel really bad for him and wish he had his sword back.
Story 6: Sheesh, that lady who was judging the guy for his interest in the paranormal sounds exhausting to deal with. Not only did she openly mock and humiliate him, who sounded completely reasonable when requesting paranormal items (even if it is a bit of a bizarre one), but she stopped the flow of the story to force her opinion in--"Ghosts aren't real." You might not believe in them, but everyone has a choice on what they do believe in, and it only makes you sound insufferable and degrading when you're essentially telling everyone "You're wrong in your beliefs." And to top it off... nothing happened. Now, maybe that couple were considering something nefarious if the OP really did see their car parked outside all night, but nothing happened. I honestly can't say why they were there or if the couple even had nefarious intentions in the first place, but once again, the OP's judgement was annoying to hear.
Totally agree with both points!!
i’m so glad someone commented abt story 6 so i didn’t have to!!! so upsetting tbh
I listen with my monitor off and in bed, the person in story 6 irritated me so badly I had to get up and turn everything on just to comment XD. Happy other people had a similar reaction, seriously terrible personality.
I hope she gets haunted. I was a skeptic until I moved into this house. They’re real, no doubt.
Yeah that lady sounded like such a judgemental rude bitch. Am I supposed to feel bad that she got scared by a car after she bullied two people who didn't do anything wrong? She called them freaks for no reason, laughed at them, and got other people to also laugh at them. I have no sympathy for mean girl types.
The guy who bought the sword in the first story is pretty much a jerk. He should have given the sword back. The older man’s son is even worse. What a shame.

That dude should of given back the sword to the old man even if he lost out on the 30 dollars, it would of just been the decent thing to do knowing the son had no right to sell his dad's stuff cause the buyer of the sword obviously realized that the object meant a lot to the elderly man and that his son was selling his dad's stuff against his father's rights.

I don’t believe in ghosts, I don’t think they exist, but I would never laugh at someone for being interested in the paranormal or asking me at a yard sale if I was selling anything haunted. That’s just rude. It takes no effort to just say “No, I don’t have any of those. Good luck with your search though!”
Also you probably wouldn’t go out of your way to say to the person you’re telling a story to “ghosts don’t exist. Sorry but they don’t.” Like that’s YOUR opinion and experience. Can’t push it on anyone else.
@@theresahoynes3128 I wouldn’t, I feel it undercuts the tension of the story as well. It’s unnecessary to add, cuts your narrative flow and you’ve accidentally insulted 50% of your audience because a lot of the people who are into scary stories also like the paranormal one. And again, just plain rude.

op in story 6 had to have been a huge bully/mean girl in school. Like, yeah they're odd and make you tilt your head, but bursting out laughing at someone's differences screams super privileged upbringing. Such a "Well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions" story. Love how she tried covering her ass by lightly implying she *might* have been a bitch, but how it's written is saying she thinks otherwise.
“I felt guilty :(. Anyways back to these freaks.”

Friday night bedtime listen sorted! Joel your narrating and content on general is amazing! I hope to be a half decent narrator myself one day! 🤞
The senior man was obviously very attached to his sword, it meant a great deal to him. He had used it to protect himself during WWII or the Korean war most likely. Should have let him keep it.
Let’s Read is awesome and is absolutely amazing.
The best!
He is THE MAN
I would have returned the sword back for the money I got it. The first story felt like the son was selling things of sentimental value that his sick dad didn't consent on. I feel sorry for him, even if he is mentally ill, he deserves to be able to keep some valuables and have a say on what is and isn't sold of his belongings.
At 36:55 did anyone else hear that & instantly think of that grandma rappin thanksgiving food?? Or just me??

It is wicked to sell that poor old man's lifetime of memories from around him. Why not let him go in peace, surrounded by the familiar. What's the big rush? I hope that sword cuts away at your conscience every damn day. You deserve it.
Anyone else love it when ppl like the person in story 6 decide that their opinions are factual? Or when they treat ppl poorly, but like to call them names when they give it back. Oh, so fun. 😂

God has his way of working. I had been stressing lately. While listening to this story. The woman named MOON was mentioned. Just as he mentioned it. My cousin MOON (my twin cousin) called in. She has breast cancer. It was a pleasure hearing her voice.
The story with the guy in the suit is scary, they probably put a cursed object hidden beside your house. That's so dangerous,no need to be a jerk. You definitely asked for that with your rude behavior 😮
Exactly my thoughts!
This is exactly what I thought or they hexed them and had to leave something at the house for the spell. Hope it brings her lots of sleepless nights 😂 rude ass Karen lol
The guy in the first story was an ass. If the old dude was mentally ill and the sword meant that much to him, he should have given it back to him after the cops were there and the situation was secure. His son seemed like a reasonable guy, so I’m sure he would’ve got his $30 back also.
Much better for an elderly, declining man to have his sentimental item than for a young man to get a “shiny new toy,” as he put it, at a cheap price.
He owes nothing to him. If the old man would have asked nicely and explained so I have no doubt the op would have given it back. But the man literally tried to kill him twice. No matter how u spin it the old man is objectively in the wrong and deserves but to stay in prison for the rest of his miserable life.
Just got off the clock took a quick hour walk came home and BOOYAH! joel had upload THANKS MAN! 👍🏾👍🏾
Love yard sales and estate sales! Had to listen ❤
No matter what I am doing- Let’s Read makes it better💙
Story 5: If someone is scoping your house, how do you just "forget" about them? That'd be top priority in my mind. I'd try to get more
Information on them while they're there and then report them to the police asap.
Hoooray!!
What an awesome set! Thank you, Joel!!!
the guy in the first story is in the wrong in my opinion because it probably wasn't the son's sword to sell and it obviously meant a lot to the man, he should have given it to the man and not have been selfish.
Right he should care for the guy that almost killed him twice. He already did them a solid by not pressing charges, don’t u think, or have u no objective thinking?
@@justinholland6132 Bit aggressive there aren't you. It's obvious the man had mental issues and yet again THE SWORD WAS NOT THE SON'S TO SELL. The man's sword was basically stolen from him the son had NO right to sell the man's property, how would you feel if your family sold and profited off of your property without your permission and when you try to get YOUR property back the person refuses? Just saying it was fucking theft.
it's dark and rainy and im having lunch rn 💕
The ending... SIR 😂😂😂😂
