I had very low expectations for Iggy's new album, but I've got to say it's by far one of the best (so far) of 2023... I would highly recommend it ;)

Given that:
A) It’s only mid-January.
B) It’s estimated that worldwide there will be ≈100,000 full ALBUMS released by the end of the year.
and
C) It’s ok. A good song, but not “best song of [any] year” tier.
All this makes me suspect you have a very limited musical palate.
Not that great.
For 75 , he still rocks.

The thing that has always worked for me with Iggy is he isn't a hypocrite, and he makes genuine art as music and musical art. Multidimensional and direct.
His music has weight and balls to speak truthfully.

If ever there was an anthem describing addiction, this is it.
I'm not an addict, but I lost my brother to it 20 years ago & my eldest son, (46), is an addict.
It's mostly opioids, but he used to have an 8 ball tattoo on his shoulder, so maybe it's like "anything that'll get me high will do."
When you love an addict but refuse to enable or subsidize their self-destruction, they get very angry at you.
So, whenever anything is on the news about finding a body, you wonder if that's them.

I just turned 28 last month. Heroin is a hell of a drug.
I’m on substitution but on one of the lowest dosages and soon will be free of all that shit. But at least I’m not injecting sh*t and I’m not getting high (the medication I take wouldn’t let me get high off of it even if I took tons of it. And I’m grateful)

Very Touching Story 😢, I too, lost my Beautiful Boy to mental illness. He took his life at 20 years old. That was 12-31-'07 and I still , and will Always LOVE & Miss him Forever. As one Mother to another, I'm sorry for your Loss, obviously not Physically, but Mentally and Emotionally, it's a Torcherous Life. It seriously hurts from not having your child like they were growing up, they're Them, but they're just Not The Same. I GET IT, COMPLETELY. Love him Forever, as I'm sure you will. ❤😢🥹🙏🙏🙏

In a way this reminds me of one of Bowie’s last videos, for Lazarus. Both deal with being old and dealing with impending death, with Iggy’s reflecting more on his past drug abuse. Both are intense masterpieces, IMO. Iggy still sounds amazing, hits hard, unflinching.

@@user-wu1ci6ob5k, ну смирение скорее всего. Он ассоциирует себя с гниющим увядающем овощем или фруктом, плюс все происходит в закрытом пространстве, как у Кафки во многих произведениях. Это означает предопределенность, тюрьму, какие- то рамки, из - за которых не выбраться. В клипе тоже все сводится к закрытому пространству в итоге. Герой уже загнал себя в эти рамки свои образом жизни. И теперь осознал это. И смирился. И затем уже герой смиряется с тем,что случилось и продолжает жить с этим, общаясь с миров в этой новой для себя оболочке. Попытка взаимодействовать. Смирение. Смерть в конце концов. Of course junk was in big circulation in music circles those days. No surprise that he slipped into it. So did David. It all came back with the soldiers of WW II and then later the "Nam. Watch the movie "Hatful of Rain".

Soldier was my pick because of the album cover, as I'd never heard him before. Heard the album and loved Iggy ever since. Cuz I'm a Conservative! I'm a Conservative! Love you Iggy!

After a long time I've gotten back into Iggy. I recently bought two albums of my lost late 80's youth at my local record shop: Instinct and Blah Blah Blah. I've read that Iggy didn't care much for Blah Blah Blah but man, what a time warp for me. And Isolation was the song and video that did it for me. I'm glad he's still fresh and vital today.
