I was also curious about the airport, and apparently the airport in Windsor Locks is basically the airport for Hartford (and also probably for Springfield, Massachusetts) and is the only international airport in Connecticut?
indeed, Bradley airport is the airport for Hartford, Springfield, and also at least used to have aer lingus service to Dublin. I know Norwegian also wanted to run out of there, but never ended up doing it. It’s a very weird airport!
@@honajtransit From the Wikipedia article, four of the destination airports (Orlando, Charlotte, Tampa and San Juan) seem to be resort/tourist airports, so I would guess this is an airport for leisure travel? Especially because Connecticut has a lot of wealthy people who might like going somewhere warmer!
CT is weird cause it's close enough to Boston and NYC that people go there instead for flights. My friend who lives in Hartford has NEVER used their airport and has always instead went to NYC for flying. So as a result CT feels like one big suburb.
Windsor Locks had a fine railroad station (Much like Windsor's) just about a mile north of this one. It became a victim of small-town politics. Or so I was told many times by wife, who grew up there.
As a 12 year old Philadelphian, i would love to see more Philly content!! Love all your videos, it feels so cool seeing a younger railfain doing all these trips on his own. Take advantage of that freedom most kids like me in the suburbs dont get it!

I’m a CT resident, and can answer the leaf blowing thing! In the spring, our grass grows like crazy, and weeds can pop out of nowhere! They are probably mowing, weed whacking, and “leaf” blowing the clippings to be taken away from the walkways/parking lot/station area.
no, this is using CTrail ridership - for some reason Wallingford actually is the least used Amtrak station, or at least last I checked it was! different data begets different stations!
I'm surprised low ridership like that continues and they dont discontinue it! What else I find weird is, that Hartford station being so big with nothing in it! There should be a lot more inside that building! But, enjoying your travels!
Funny! I've seen some bad Amtrak stations out west (I'm looking at you, Palm Springs), but this has got to be one of the weakest stations I've seen on the northeastern seaboard. They need to move this thing across the highway!

They should run a shuttle service from the airport to the station that will definitely increase its rider ship
the 24 bus kinda is that, but since a) it also goes to windsor and b) the 30X is faster and goes to hartford, windsor locks is low-used
