Spinach is a great cool season crop, perfect for the upcoming growing season! I will show you how to grow it from seed to harvest. I hope you can try it soon! The seed is available at Walmart and Lowe's, however, it is a seasonal item so it might be hard to find in the winter.

That's the most typical southern accent I've ever heard. So lovely!
You're lovely. Cute, hot guy. ;)
I don’t know what’s better, the heaps of knowledge or your voice. I can’t wait to grow my spinach! Thank you!
thank you, this is my first time growing, always wanted to!
Thank you so much for this great info. I LOVE LOVE LOOOVE spinach. I tried growing spinach in the shade but it's still not liking this hot summer weather. I'll try again when the right weather is in. Happy growing!

What a delightful lady... I'm an old guy getting into gardening. You are very helpful :-)
"okaaay?" :) Cutest.
I Love your garden!!! So beautiful!!!
I live in the desert and yes it can germinate in high temp. Spinach taste better when you grow it in the winter. The cold makes it taste better!
No success with spinach here in two years... Your garden is lovely!! I love the sunflowers spot!
+artistik1979 Do you think it may help to try Teton and slug bait? :)
You can get starter plants ?
You can use Spinach for many dishes. I like spinach with fried egg for breakfast.
Thanks Donna for showing us your way of growing spinach.. Be well Patrick
+Patrick Meehan Yum, eggs and spinach.
My favorite is raw in a salad but it also is quite popular in artichoke dip in my family
LOL and I thought I was the only one who did this.
I like it best as a side dish for dinner.
Garlic, a few tomatos and spinach in a pan and just heat it until it falls together.
glad I seen this I want to start growing my own spinach
Lots of great tips in this video. Thank you. I felt the same about kale. It's easy to grow but we didn't like it as much as spinach. We found if we chopped it up smaller and mixed it into different recipes that we liked it much better. We also found recipes for cooking it down into hot salads and we liked that also. Pinterest has great recipe ideas
thanks for the tips on germination temperature
I am so excited to garden this year. Thank you for this video! I also love your accent! It's like being home again. :) I am from the south but transplanted to the PNW.
+Emmy Emmy Thank you so much!

I love spinach too! I think I will try to succession sow more next year. I usually just do an early Spring and late Summer sowing but you have inspired me to try this! Thanks for sharing this.

Greetings Canada 🇨🇦
I bought 1 pound of spinich seed in 2009. Just found them this year. I expected them to fail this year so I planted them thick. I swear every one came up. I'll be using the rest this fall.
using the skewers is such a great idea! I used twine this year for my grid and it snapped after my 2nd planting. I'm looking forward to greens again, thanks for the tips :)
+Elizabeth Jones Great! I hope you can give it a try.

I love your different colour sunflowers at the middle.
Me too! And zinnias!
Have you ever tried going spinach in your home hydroponic beds? Your hydroponic beds were sheer genius BTW!!! Bravo!!!
Yes. I hope to do a video on it too in the coming year. It requires a stronger nutrient solution so I am researching cups to block the light (preventing algae growth). Thank you.
love how u make planting easy
+Jessy Vasquez Thank you so much! :)
Ur welcome :-)
v informative video.what have u used for slugs? i have so many snails in my garden.
+Faiza Nawaz I prefer Sluggo. It works great! I used my back up "slug bait" in this video because I ran out of Sluggo. Thanks for watching. :)
This was really useful. Thanks for showing the progress from seed to harvest. I also appreciated the slug repellent tips. I tried growing spinach once, but the seedlings all disappeared. It was probably slugs.
What zone do you grow in? Thanks for the info. Spinach is awesome :)
I love your garden!
+Jennifer Arcovio Than you so much! :)
Great information. Planted spinach in cells. Seeing some sprouts coming up. I’m in done 9. Thank you.
In your zone, I would think spinach does best in January or February? How's it doing so far?
@@RainbowGardens The squirrels ate it. 😟 It was doing well. Bought some cages to cover crops. I’ll try again in February. Thanks for the reply.
Beautiful garden, Hon. Where do you live? I live in SW FL and I've grown a lot of plants but will be trying spinach soon. I wasn't sure yet if I was going to grow it indoors or out. You think I could spout em indoors and finish the process outside?
Spinach grows best for me when I direct seed it into the soil where i plan to grow it. Your climate is probably very warm and I imagine you have only a few months where spinach so I would definitely try to start it indoors, then move it out. When you move it out, throw a few more seeds into the soil so you can test to see how it does for you.
I planted mine on 16 feb I have good looking seedlings
Just found your channel great presentations and information.
Wonderful. I hope you can check out my other growing videos on my channel too. Happy Gardening!
thank you so much and God bless you
Thank you!
Nice growing tips!
California Gardening h
Great tips! Thanks!
What kind of slug/snail pellets did you use? Are they organic? The ones I’ve seen I wouldn’t want to use on something we are going to eat. What do you recommend?
Wonderful video!
Thank you for video.. I am learning quite a lot from you. Can I get you to suggest how often to water my indoor seedlings that are under grow light. Also how much and when do I feed them? I have not had so much luck with Spinach yet, and I love feeding it to my family. Thanks
I start only a few plants indoors. Check out this video on which one's I start inside. czcams.com/video/xcAYbYRZBhw/video.html Most plants, I put the seed directly into the soil. If you start seeds indoors, make sure you use a seed starting mix and don't reuse potting soil, top soil, or anything like that. Only use seed starting mix. Don't water too often, keep the small seeds misted with a spray bottle, and water the larger seed with a small watering can.
How would you know if seeds are hybrid? Thx
Girl. Thank u.
Is it Donna? Could you please share how you manage your planting schedules with your different gardens?
+typhoidmary34 Hi there! Why yes, it is me! :) Do you have the Square Foot Garden book? If so, check out the back charts for planting schedules. I love the charts and they are so helpful. I also touched on this subject earlier this year, in the spring. Here is the video on how I plan my garden: czcams.com/video/MJZiGqTBvLY/video.html
Please let me know if you have any specific questions. I will be happy to help you. :)
Hi Donna , you always mention you direct sow seeds after seeing your forecast and let rain do the watering for you . Has the rain caused seedling damage or death and you need to sow more seeds than you require to account for the seedling loss ? I have no experience with rain in my garden as our monsoons is my off season with almost zero sun . I do not have any rains in my growing season.
Hi There!
Rain and the Square Foot Garden soil mix is perfect! The vermiculite helps so much, keeping the seeds moist until they sprout. Old seed is harder to sprout.
I recall one time I had carrots up and growing and the weather was dry for a couple of weeks (I depend on rain), so the seedlings died. :( I really have not had a hard time with seedling damage/death as long as we get rain..
In many parts of the world the rainy season is winter which means too little sun light to raise crops and the dry season obviously means little to no rain.
I'd recommend using soaker hoses to saturate your plot morning and or night. No soil splashing on your plants will minimize risk of disease and using it morning and night means more water is absorbed rather than evaporated.
Very nice video and also a very nice garden!
Is this tutorial the same for baby spinach?
Which kind of slug bait do you recommend?
Love her voice
Nice farming,,
Plz answer my question plz, potting mix or compost?? What to use?
I have a noob question . I love baby spinach but don't know if it is actually young spinach or its nust another variety of spinach ? If it is juvenile spinach when is the best time to harvest ?
omg im in florida it hardly even is 80 here...
