Gist : The fifteenth pathigam portrays how unwavering devotion to the Lord can lead us to attain the ultimate goal of spirituality - eternal bliss. The song describes a devotee, immersed in the love of Lord Shiva, and tells us how we can also progress in our journey by taking her as an example of dedication and devotion.

Thiruvempavai’ are a set of twenty songs that are sung in Shiva temples in the month of Margazhi. The songs are sung early in the morning, one on every day, followed by ten songs of the ‘Thirupalliyeluchi’.
The paavai songs are part of an ancient tradition amongst unmarried young girls, where they would light lamps in the early mornings of Margazhi, and sing songs in praise of Lord Shiva. It was believed that such rituals would bring prosperity and a suitable husband.
The ‘Thiruvempavai’ songs, along with the ‘Thiruppavai’ songs composed in honour of Lord Vishnu, resound in temples across Tamil Nadu during the cold days of December and January. The songs are even sung during the coronation of the King of Thailand!
The twenty songs of the ‘Thiruvempavai’ form a part of the ‘Thiruvasakam’, a set of ancient Tamil hymns that date back to the 9 CE, and were composed in Annamalaiyar temple by the poet-saint Manickavasagar. Each song in the ‘Thiruvempavai’ is a fervent expression of the poet's deep devotion and surrender to the divine, and quest for spiritual enlightenment.
The songs are written as conversations between a sleeping maiden, reluctant to wake up early, and her friends who try to persuade her to accompany them to the temple.

Everyday , I wait for the new posting of the day’s Thiruvembhavai edition. For the beauty of tge Tamizh verse, its meaning. raga , and the pure devotion.,with which it was sung. It is a rarity to hear. One wonders why Marghazhi should not be there the whole year!

Thiruvembavai fifteen - rendered with the energy of a teen
Ragam Huseini - Madhu (translates to honey in hindi), thaen kural kondavall Nee :-)
The divinity that exuded was the key....
Listening to this, set the mind light and free...
You are someone who is as active as a bee...
No wonder u have many fans like me.
    Happy new year from me
You are in line for accolades very many.

People might wonder, why most of us listeners here keep praising the singer rather than the Lord on whom the song is sung. It's just because there are very few singers like you who sing in contemporary style such devotionals at the same time retaining the aesthetics of such classics. Your idea of singing it with pure shruthi enhances the feel and keeps it simple and adorable Sis !! God also needs messengers to spread divinity !! Thanks Sis !!

I agree with you perfectly. Madhu Iyer is a singer academically and professionally trained in Carnatic, Western and Hindustani music and singing, and singing for movies. But she chose to sing these sacred devotional songs with contemporary video scenes and in a style so that others could read the lyrics, understand the meaning and learn to sing. This is a remarkable contribution indeed. We praise those who did the same a century ago as saints.

Very nicely put...that' s because the human brain can appreciate and praise only things that it can see, hear, feel and smell :-)
eg: cute kid, melodious music, gentle breeze, nice aroma or flavor
There is a very popular saying in cricket...you can hit the ball only if u are able to see it :-)

Thank you . I try to bring out the bhakti with which the lyrics are written in the best way I can. If it is communicated well then the purpose is served.. even after so many centuries these hymns still hold great value. If I can revive this with whatever I can contribute to it then I am happy 😊

Hello Madhu, are you a descendant of Jewish lineage?
There were Jewish people as well their lineage in Kerala and Karnataka.
You look like one of them.
But it was just curiosity question.
Regardless, now I'm a fan of your songs.

This is how the entire Indian female population look, particularly the Southern States women. And the South India itself has a population of approximately 25% plus of India - that will be at least a total of 350 million out of 1400 millions - taking 50% of that as female, it would be 175 million South Indian females.

I don't understand. Are you saying that the south Indians women look like this women? So you're saying that female population of the south is from another country or race than the male population of south India?
