I feel like Shelton's defense is not talked about enough. There aren't many players who can consistently get to these wide angle balls and then his placement for them is nothing short of perfection. I get prime Murray flashbacks watching some of these point conversions by Shelton.

Between the insane time difference, the stacked draws of Beijing & Shanghai in particular, & high level of play all around, watching the Asian swing was exhausting, but so rewarding! Congrats to Shelton who battled through so many 3 setters across Shanghai & Tokyo to not just go deep, but also claim his first ATP title. Shelton's going to win a Slam before the other US players. Tiafoe, meanwhile, STILL doesn't have a 500. Three black men made it to finals this week with two of them winning: Shelton & Monfils. Historic. Let's go!

Jury still out on top 10 position but no one has improved in 10 months like Shelton. We’ll see next year.
I can’t believe the improvement on the backhand and return in such a short time. Lots of new players coming out from all over the world. After the Joker, I don’t see the dominance.
Honestly I'll be haply for that. Once Rafa and Roger stopped being able to contest Nole consistently the games been pretty boring. Nole is literally a once in a lifetime. And though he's helped push players and the game forward, at a certain point him (and the other big 3 to an extent) are also hurting the game. I don't want him to retire, he is my fav player, but I'm mature enough to see the good and the bad with him
@@ivanhall6482 En fait si le jeu de Djokovic semble ennuyeux - mais il ne l'est pas ! - c'est parce qu'il joue d'une manière totalement différente de tous les autres joueurs qui, eux, sont surtout dans la "performance" physique (cf Alcaraz, Shelton, Medvedev, Sinner etc...).
Je ne sais pas si vous l'avez remarqué sa FORCE réside dans l'Unité qu'il y a chez lui entre son physique, son psychisme, son émotionnel et son mental nettement plus calme et équilibré que celui des autres joueurs, ce qui fait que son énergie fait une espèce de "bloc" sans faille qui perturbe énormément tous les autres joueurs qui ne savent plus comment jouer face à lui !
En arts martiaux on pourrait dire que son Ki est plus puissant que celui des autres joueurs et il gagne systématiquement le match, peu importe le joueur qui se présente face à lui (à part Wawrinka lorsqu'il était en forme). Il est rare que ce ne soit pas le cas. Mais si ça lui arrive alors il perd également presque systématiquement le match.
N'oublions pas qu'il médite beaucoup et fait du yoga, et pratique le tennis comme une méditation, ce qui déroute tous ses adversaires !
Ça se "sent" immédiatement sur lui dans quel état est son Ki.
Il me fait beaucoup penser à Borg mais en plus solide encore mentalement.
Même Federer ne savait plus comment jouer face à Djokovic car celui-ci avait l'ascendant psychologique sur lui et plus de "présence" sur le cour. Plus de Ki que Federer.
Le seul joueur à avoir été capable de gagner face à lui alors qu'il était en pleine forme ça a été Wawrinka, mais c'était surtout grâce à la puissance physique et à ses longueurs de balles de ce dernier qui gênaient beaucoup Djokovic.
Tennis needs this kind of player now that kyrgios is not there 😊

He's not really like kyrgios though. He wants to win, and competes even when he's not playing well. He has fire and motivation to succeed. And the desire to win and improve is consistent.
