“Shine On You Crazy Diamond!”
Yes please!! My favorite one
oh yes, that's gonna flip you forever. they don't make music like that any more
Comfortably Numb live at Pulse is crazy amazing too
Shine On (all parts) is pure bliss in headphones. One of my favorites for sure.
The FULL version!
The song is about death. That is the only help that David Gilmour told Clair Torry before she started to improvise the entire vocal.
And the first take is what they kept.
@@bedlamite42 ...
Nope... The first take was all doo's and yeah's. Gilmore didn't like it. They kept the second take.
@@paspax They wanted to do a third take and she said No...the 2nd has it all. So they did. See her interview.
She came out of the studio and thought she blew it and apologized. Roger Waters and David Gilmour were blown away. They thought it was brilliant.
Richard Wright guided her this is Rick's song
Released Mar 1973
937 weeks on Billboard
A timeless classic.
And in 1993 it went back to number one.
Fuck me in half that’s 18 years
Isn't that simply incredible?
That's Pink Floyd for you.
Simply untouchable.
Claire Torry is singing about the stages of death. Denial, rage and acceptance. A true masterpiece.
Pink Floyd is an experience.
AsylumSaint lol
AsylumSaint I have that’s why I’m laughing your comment was f ing hilarious bro!
I'm 63 yrs. old. I have a niece. We are the last of my blood family. She is still young. My wife passed last January. I'll listen to this at my end. It's true, "I'm not frightened of dying, anytime will do..."
AsylumSaint Lol! ,
Rondo Hunter I hope you're around for your niece as long as is possible. Tomorrow is guaranteed for no one. Peace my Brother. Enjoy the music and the ride of life!
“Never been yelled at so beautifully” 😹
This dude comes out with some lit quotes. Best reactor in the game?
😎😂
An excellent way to describe this song
@samplexample
In this case it is.
"Never said a word but said so much!"
Dark side of the moon is a 42 minute long song really. Listen to it straight through sometime
Could you really listen to him interrupt the whole album? That would be sacrilege.
@@catweasle5737 he doesnt need to make a video to listen to the whole album. He could just put it on at some point in his life and check it out
I would say the same thing about Meddle, The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Pulse Tour CD/DVD
While watching Wizard of Oz.
@@kerrysmith1899 hmmm. where to cue the music? several different opinions on that. there's a version (or more) on youtube. seems NOT to work more than it works...
Shaq : *“you not gon start off yelling at me...”*
Pink Floyd : *proceeds to yell at shaq through the entire song*
😂😂😂😂
Nemo Hos Hahaha!! 😅
My favorite song god damn
Yelled at Shaq, but in the most beautiful way possible. Shine on. :)
haha so funny
The vocals are raw emotion. No words are necessary
The fact that they were basically improvised is mind boggling
yup, first take, on the record... no need to try a second time ;)
The words are at the beginning. Claire is incredible. Never fails at it's goal .💗
@@thistle14091
Clare!
@@oscarwilde6649 ,my apologies, Clare.💗
@@krustbag1039 What ended up on the record was actually a several takes, chopped up and put together. It was improv though. The only person I've seen come close live is Bianca Antoinette.
Clare Torry's screams of death refusal and eventual acceptance. Legendary
Wait until he finds out shes white!😅✌
@@chriskenner600 And Its mostly 1 take in the studio :)
Superb vocals.
@@xtraSquadie after they got her to stop singing "ooh baby, yeah"
@@xtraSquadie no it wasn't.
David Gilmour:
"Clare Torry didn't really look the part. She was Alan Parsons' idea. We wanted to put a girl on there, screaming orgasmically. Alan had worked with her previously, so we gave her try. And she was fantastic. We had to encourage her a little bit. We gave her some dynamic hints: "Maybe you'd like to do this piece quietly, and this piece louder." She did maybe half a dozen takes, and then afterwards we compiled the final performance out of all the bits. It wasn't done in one single take."
She ain’t yelling baby she’s SINGING HER HEART OUT!
🎶 🎶 💪
Soul sista ain't yelling at you..she's putting her heart in it. BTW, Clare Torry is a white girl..but you'd never know it.
DAMN! I didn't know she was white!
You don't just listen to Pink Floyd. It's an experience.❣
Nothing has ever been more true. You CAN'T just listen to them, they force you to experience something magical.
I salute you
Oh yeah it's a journey through the madness it's fantastic.
I think with your reply , I now know the answer to life. Pretty profound
Fruit Cake I agree!!!!
"I've Never got yelled at so beautifully.. if that's a word" 😂 😂 😂 😂
What people don't understand is even though 'dark side of the moon' is Pink Floyd's quintessential album it's literally only 5 long songs divied-up into pieces thus creating an entire album. Ingenius really.
it’s 2 songs but ok
@@maxfuerholzer959 side a and side b
I get chills every time I hear it. But, you gotta listen to it all together. It's kind of an interlude between songs on an album that is a masterpiece as a whole.
The words are in the beginning.
I am not afraid of dying. Why should I be afraid of dying? There's no reason for it, we all gotta go sometime...
Frightened, not afraid.
Is just matter of time
Did you ever learn the story behind all the voices used in this album? The band went around the studio asking the crew members, studio employees, even the janitor a series of questions; "are you afraid of dying?, when was the last time you were violent? (follow-up) where you in right?" things like that. This particular answer came from an old Irishman named Mickey who worked in the studio and that was his response when asked.
Need to react to pink floyd, wish you were here coach
This. 👆
I second that
And welcome to the machine, another brick in the wall
And comfortably numb
this this and more this
There's a moment at the 2:35 mark where you just stop in your tracks, so completely captivated by what you are hearing. And so you should be - this is probably the most iconic female vocal solo ever recorded. Sure, you made out she was shouting at you, but it was a shout out to the world at large. Just cannot get enough of this track, and am enjoying watching all the Pink Floyd newbies discovering it for the first time.
Clearly, you were not prepared for this one. And that’s the best way to experience the first listen.
Welcome to Pink Floyd 😅
led Zeppelin " since ive been loving you " EPIC song coach.
Zeppelin is my favorite band but they dont play around with copyright stuff. It's hard to post their shit on YT without it getting copy striked
@@Th3Downz I've been noticing that more Led Zeppelin reactions are getting uploaded. CZcams might have relaxed some of it's bs.
@@chaost4544 Well then fuck yeah! I'd love some more reactions
When the levee breaks
Awesome song. Bring on more Floyd!!! Another brick in the wall. Welcome to the machine
Welcome the machine!!!!@
Nothing like the first time you hear the voice of a goddess.
Clair Torri has more soul than most of the soul singers. She broke the mold...
P.s. she did it in 1 take.
They told her the song was about death and to use her voice as an instrument.
She was a good friend of the producer. None other than the legendary Alan Parsons.
She actually didn't do it in one take, she initially had improvised "yeah" and "baby" into it but Waters had to stop her and tell her no words.
@KefkaTheDemiGod 🤓
You're right dude. As soon as I saw the title I had to watch.
DJoe L yup
Yeah, he did it finally
The Moody Blues: Nights in White Satin. The full version
Epic
Listen to shine on your crazy Diamond
It’s an experience
Amen!
When my dad got his cassette recorder for his home stereo he dubbed it from vinyl to cassette piecing each “part” into one song... it was initially split and placed all over the album.
David, Roger, Nick and Rick behind the booth: Alright, The Great Gig In The Sky, take 1.
*5 mins later*
Clare: Alright guys, how was that?
David, Roger, Nick and Rick: dead
As a matter of fact it was done in a single take. According to keyboardist Richard Wright, she was embarrassed and wanted to do it again. They actually had to convince her the first take was perfect.
@@vellaropedart9190 Well it certainly was
@@vellaropedart9190, it wasn't done in one take. It was done in two and a half - and no less genius for it.
More floyd!!!!!!!
"I am not frightened of dying
Any time will do, I don't mind
Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime"
That, sir, is indeed tough
"I never said I was afraid of dying"
I believe that was the studio doorman. Waters recorded a bunch of people - at one point Paul McCartney agreed to be recorded - and the doorman along with a couple of other people (the "He was cruisin' for a bruisin" lady, etc) made it to the album. Floyd is music for the soul...
That, sir, is indeed life!
I been listening to this song for over 40 years, it STILL gives me goosebumps.
I’m just happy 😊 I lived long enough to meet u listening to Pink Floyd !! 🎼❤️ Much Love 🙏🏼😘
You need to do the whole dark side of the moon at one time
jarhead4ever1 mos def.
Spot on!
listen while watching the Wizard of Oz. Start album right as the black and white original MGM lion growls the third time. Start on third growl of black and white lion. ENJOY lots of the music matches the movie. Did Floyd match the song to the movie??????
saltytsp the movie in my head
Pink Floyd - Hey You coach !!
Christopher Julian guitar solo is amazing and how it represents Pink’s transition to the “dark side”
That’s right brother... ALL heart and soul!
Goosebumps, you get it.
Pink Floyd- Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Led Zepplin- Over The Hills And Far Away
Moody Blues- Tuesday Afternoon and Nights In White Satin
The Who- Baba O' Riley
Yes- I've Seen All Good People
This is a playlist thats super tough.
What about it is tough?
Proof that you can have a 'meaningful' song without lyrics....
Check out polyphia
Yes that is exactly
You react to anything by Pink Floyd, you're getting a "like" from me.
Yessssssss
Yup.
Enjoy fellas.
Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter" . I would love to see your reaction to the amazing "backup" singer. Please do it.
Merry Clayton did the oringal studio vocals. On recent tours it's been Sasha Allen.
@@johnmills2678 to me, the best live backup was Lisa Fischer...'89-'98....
I love "backup" because it really is true that she steals the show.
There is nothing more soul moving than a woman singing in full voice with raw emotion.
I paused my movie to view this when I saw it was uploaded minutes ago.
😂😂😂
This song is just pure, raw emotion set to music. One of Pink Floyd's greatest, and that's saying a fucking lot.
Thanks for doin this one shaq, I loved your reaction to one of my favorite songs.
Her voice is straight up emotion! She is painting a picture of sadness, rage, being heartbroken; all these emotions that we feel, with her voice. Pink Floyd break their songs into tracks because that is how you make a record, but the fact is Pink Floyd albums are just 1 track. That song was just a piece of the puzzle. Pink Floyd are masters of their art.
Pink Floyd - Welcome to the Machine next my guy
Def one with some good meaning behind it
Yes
@Spencer Seymour. Good one! What about" comfortably numb"...too please.
YES WELCOME TO THE MACHINE
I just commented that thinking no one said it lol
You GOT to do Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. It's their most beautiful song I believe. With this one a close second.
fully agree but he has to do the whole 29 minute song both parts
This is the BEST SONG.... MY ABSOLUTE FAVORIte I’ve been asking ya to watch it! Thank ya thank ya thank ya!!!!🤙🏼
Instant thumbs up! Keep em coming Shaq!
Yes my guy, you have just experienced one of the greatest pieces of music of all time.
If that isn't the greatest vocal of all time...tell me what is.
Great reaction video! This song is so beautiful. The vocal chords on this lady is so powerful. Pink Floyd = goosebumps 😃
"never been yelled at so beautifully" classic, brilliant! only this fella could come out with something like that!!!
Yeaaaaaaas! Been waiting for this!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!

Second this, Dogs is also my favorite PF song (Sorry Echoes and Shine on you Crazy Diamond!)
Animals all the way
Wow I had to stop and see this. Claire Torre is a legend!!!
Torre, That's it. I could not pull the name and I didn't want to look it up.
I'm so glad you did this song!
Bro.... It's awesome that you are opening up to new music.. New to you. Hell yeah bro
If I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life it would be Dark Side of the Moon.

Animalssssss! 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣‼️
I rushed to this video.. epic.
Also you might want to check out Pink Floyd - "Echoes" - Live at Pompeii (part 1).
Kompton Terry these comments on here are so but you sir are a true Floydian kudos to you
@Pedro Takahashi Gunderson yeah you're probably right on that one. The only problem is the video is 20 minutes long so I didn't want to scare him off
Thank you so much for reacting to all these great rock tunes. You are the real deal Shaq !!!
loved ur reaction man , you also made me laugh my ass off , thanks for that , I needed it!
"It didn't say one word but it said so much." Exactly my feeling when I first heard this many moons ago.
Pink Floyd Coming Back to Life, my man. Nobody has ever done it, and it's magnificent
wheresatari Hell yes. The Division Bell never gets enough love.
Cassitastrophe you’re so right. That album is a masterpiece!
While he's at it, he should listen to High Hopes.
@@halblow448 Heck yeah! 2 of my faves by them😃
For real, I love The Division Bell. Such an underrated album.

Clicked so fast! Love some Floyd!!!
My all time favourite floyd song this hits so deep in my soul claire tory has the voice of an angel
pink floyd often leaves people scratching their heads in amazement.clearly masters of their art.
If you do a full album reaction, Dark side of the Moon is a must
He would come out of that a completely different person lmfao.
Front to back, and in order. The album tells so much story thru the lyrics as well as the interconnection of the musicality. An absolute masterpiece
@@rayjennings3637 great album. It was for a time my favorite Floyd album.
@@rayjennings3637 that's a great story, thank you for sharing. The soundscapes Floyd paints are amazing. I can close my eyes, put on an album and be taken away to another world. That's what makes them so special and one of my favorite bands.
To have such a powerful song reacting to the process of death, is epic. Pink Floyd is on another dimension with their music, it simply a timeless experience. Glad my Dad exposed me to them and other great artists. LOVE watching your reactions!! =) Keep it up!
"Now there's a look in your eyes like black holes in the sky," comes from a song called Shine On You Crazy Diamond. The full version is pretty long, but absolutely beautiful and worth a listen.
🎶 🎶
YASSS!!! I wa hoping you would cover this amazing song!
Hell ya' ive been WAITING FOR THIS ONE ...YEEEESSSSS.thanks.
"The great gig in the sky" is very much about death... and passing onto the next world or life. The screaming becomes stronger as the singer is dying. It becomes much more calm once she "accepts" it. This song is a piece of the story telling of Pink Floyd's masterpiece "The Dark Side of The Moon".
You said it Oh God !!! Goose bumps....I love it
One of my favorite bands & songs of all time. Very happy you enjoyed it.
I would love for him to react to shine on you crazy diamond but the video would be 75m long!!!
I desperately need you to react to The Wall. The entire movie... It's mind blowing!
That's what I just said! :D I don't know that he could do that on here? But he needs to watch it, for sure!
@@hoopofspiders6183 maybe live?
@@noth1ng5id ooo, like if he were to live stream it?! hell yeah, that would be awesome!!!
Especially “what shall we do now” as it is different from the album
Loving your videos man ,love from U K England 😃
You're one of my absolute favorite people to watch doing reactions!!!
That aint yelling Bro. That is Comanchee wailing. Talks about the pain of the trail of tears. Thw loss of their land, the loss of their culture, the loss of their identity. That aint yelling. It is a lamentation.
Uh sorry for your miseducation, but the comanche weren't even part of the trail of tears
On August 26, 1987, during Roger Waters (A founding member of Pink Floyd) Radio KAOS Tour, flew Claire Torry in from London, to do this song live. It was in Madison Square Garden, and I was there. It was just amazing, as you would imagine.
Bro i just found out your channel wanna let you know i have no words for it.. just can say that i enjoy wathcing the reaction and hope you uploaded more
That's what heaven sounds like my brother.
On acid you might just believe that this music came right out of Heaven.
Pink Floyd- Welcome to the Machine
Pink Floyd my all time fav!! Tread lightly my guy. Lol
Brian Flatt stfu
John Smith what the fuck is your problem?
Man love this reaction I always get goosebumps listening to this phenomenal piece of genius music xxx
Love your content man. Love that you are expanding your horizon, love your reactions to these classic 60s-70s songs. BUT being so shocked that a song does not have any lyrics made me incredibly sad!
Shaq, PLEASE show our ladies of Rock some love!! Heart, Pat Benatar and Joan Jett.
No
Gotta do the whole dark side of the moon album!
legitchucknorris, dude I would to spend 2hrs watching Coach react to that shit!!!!!!!
On Acid.
Bro for real for real. I love your hip hop/rap stuff cause I love that shit. But love the appreciation for other culture, styles and genres. Mad love
LOVE YOU 😘 BRO KEEP DOING UR WORK
That line is from shine on you Crazy Diamond
Now there a look in your eye like a ............
Shine on you Crazy Diamond ❤
You should react to Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" by Pulse, that guitar solo will blow your head
Durga McBroom and Lorelei McBroom on Pulse and Division Bell, also Live in Venice. Check them out. Very good friends.
Hands fucking down, the best solo I've seen. I know there's people who shred out there twice as technical. But that one right there, gives me chills endlessly. It's a feeling. An experience
I am so glad you chose this song to go into. soul and heart
So glad you heard this my favorite! Goosebumps! Yeah, this is about going through all the emotions of the death of a loved one...to relay something in music without saying it, to me, is the greatest talent a singer can have!
