I’ve worked on Tower of Tickets for years. The platform version was at one time an upgrade kit you could buy for your unit that dispenses the ticket rolls. I was happy to upgrade as people would often take the ticket rolls home with them.
The ticket rolls I have have RFID chips in the bottom of them, adhered to the black plastic puck the tickets are on. Super handy.
Other of my companies locations have the Trolls one too. It is exactly the same, but the long hair on the newer style ticket pucks is pretty cool. Thought about buying them and putting them in the older version I have. That would be fun.
It’s easy to work on too, though sometimes the secondary arm connected to the one that pushes the pucks comes loose. When this happens, the second arm can break sensors. That sucks.
It is fun to see that you like this game so much. Most of my techs much prefer the gameplay of Zombie Snatcher.
That was a lot of rambling from me, but I like fixing arcade games and it is fun to see other people enjoy them too.

I literally want to hear your opinions on every game haha! I have been avidly playing Dance dance revolution A for about 6 years in dave and busters (top 8 in Arizona before i moved, number 3 in Indiana now) so When im between sets or have a wait before I'm up when the machine gets crowded, I always hop on zombie snatcher or some other games to nab some tickets and get myself a laffy taffy or nerds rope.
Hearing about what machines are fun to work on and what ones arent is a frequent convo piece for me and regular DNB employees so its always fun to hear

@UnprofessionalFlip Hello! Thank you for sharing your story, I'd just like to ask something as you've said you've worked on ToT for years.
You see, we have this local arcade chain in our country. The tower of tickets used to be easy and as a result people were taking advantage of the machine for hours on end, and that includes me. But recently, they've made the metal plate pushing the pucks to the center very bent and they increased the price per play so it made it harder, almost impossible to consistently time the pucks to go into the win zone. Also we've noticed that the platform tends to move at different speeds, sometimes it's slow and sometimes it's very fast.
So may I ask if there's anything in this game other than the metal plate being bent further inside to "rig" this game? Is the platform moving at different speeds as a result of wear and tear, or can it be programmed/set in the machine? And lastly, can the machine detect that if you time the puck correctly, it'll slow down / speed up the arm so it'll miss?
Your insight and reply will be very much valued by a large community of tot players here in my country :) We just wanna know if they're doing something else fishy

My most consistent machine, once you get a feel for how fast the pushers are, it's pretty easy. It also feels as though the larger ones feel easier to knock in weirdly enough. You'd assume the smaller ones would be harder to push in?

I'd love to see a video about Monster Drop, or similar ball dropping games.
When I was a kid, my local arcade had one of these that had a faulty sensor, so it detected a jackpot if you made it in the hole next to the actual jackpot hole (which was relatively easy and consistent to do). I was able to get a bunch of goodies well below MSRP thanks to this so the memory is special to me haha

It's lovely to see an arcade focused channel that isn't screaming to children about jackpots or loading prizes into your own machine just to win them because you can just un-rig it for yourself.
I'd like to see a video for Monster Drop, I used to play the hell out of that when Planet X was still around- that arcade had actual tokens and tickets rather than cards. That was fun! Now they've got the huge monster drop machines instead and it's $1.50 per ball rather than a single token.
Another one I'd like to see is Pixel Chase. There's another arcade around here now that has it and it's FUN. It's one where you have to throw balls into the highlighted targets

There was a stretch of a couple of years where I'd visit an out of state friend, and we'd hit up a nearby Dave and Buster's and just blow through several hundred credits during their half price play days. Those were awesome times. I'm eagerly waiting to see if you'll do Tower of Power or Strike it Rich. The story behind baytek's name on tower of tickets is supposedly due to Elaut having difficulties manufacturing it out of Belgium so they asked Baytek to help out. They took it a step further and designed the reload system which is the one baytek advertises on their website, the version on Elaut's retired page is the non reload where it goes out of play.

An arcade I went to had both zombie snatcher (with the zombie mega bonus) and a tower of tickets (RFID win slot). I was definitely spending more time on tower of tickets getting the 1k roll, but I would only occasionally check zombie snatcher to see if there was any letters or high value pucks close by. Both are really good but being able to keep going for 1ks on tower of tickets is much better for farming. You should note that after winning on tower, the arm will have a little bit of lag next time around.

  • @maxmouse713
    @maxmouse713 Před 4 měsíci

Maaaan, I want to give a suggestion for one, but I haven't seen it in so long I forgot the name of it. Alls I can tell ya is that it has a rubber ball you use skill to try to get to go in the right slots at the end of a (plexiglass protected but still not skinny kid arm proof) downward ramp and that (I think) made a Wheel o Fortune-style wheel turn. Thing is, is that if I remember right the wheel was really easy to strategize to get big payouts and even jackpots. One time I actually emptied the machine during a jackpot and they had to write a note with how many tickets I won. I'll keep looking on the interwebs to see if I can pull the name out of the void. Tho, I guess if you can't find it to test it then it'd be pretty moot.
Edit: Found it! It's the impossibly unsearchable "Spin To Win" (sometimes called "Spin-to-Win") released in 1985 by Lazer Tron (or at least that's what arcade-museum says). It definitely looks like a totally skill and strategy based game, but I bet it's deeper than kid-me ever figured out. Sadly it looks like this oldie is rather rare in the wild. I only found two videos of it in action, and one of them was a demonstration of how to win at it and games similar to it. But that video was from 13 years ago, so ticket inflation might be an issue. If you find it I'd love to hear your thoughts on it or even games similar to it.

I could recommend pac-man ticket mania, while I did see there's an option for payout rate that would brake all the rules to make sure you will have 0 chances to win, the default options have a super consistent jackpot, and it's just pac-man at the end of the day so learning it consist of playing it safe.

I gotta hear your thoughts on Angry Birds Arcade: it's always been my go-to due to the generous payout

How does the platform version read what the value of the tickets landed are?

I operate this machine. It’s really consistent. I test played 10 times and won 4? It is really consistent once you learn the strategy

are there arcade sharks like in casionos where you get kicked out if they find out you're too good/rigging it?

Oh hell yeah, another Arcade Explai--er, I mean Capybarski video! And on an S-Tier game! Lot to say on this one and I agree with pretty much everything you said, just some things to add.
I would rank these versions in the following order, from best to worst: Tower of Tickets (platform) - Zombie Snatcher (puck-dispensing tubes) - Zombie Snatcher (elevator) - Tower of Tickets (scoring hole ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ). Reason being Platform Tower is a true infinite; Zombie Snatcher with the tubes will always have the highest base scoring puck on the board but you have to have techs refill them, Zombie with the elevator will only have 1 (or at most 2 at most places) of the highest scoring puck and you need to sink 6 pucks to get it to recycle, so you're rarely playing for the high value...and scoring hole Tower is a one-and-done for the day as you said.
    Also of note:
Tower of Tickets has a slight input delay/lag on any given arm for one play after any prize was won. This will throw you off unless you compensate for it.
There are also two versions of the "nubs" that are at the end of the prize arm you use to move the towers - one looks like a spring and one is more solid. The springy one has far more give and margin for error when going for those 1,000 towers.
Being a true infinite with zero interaction with the arcade staff until redeeming tickets, you also have considerations on how much, if at all, you would need to be "hiding" your wins from the arcade, if you're winning the 1,000 every time or better than I would say at least 60%. At whatever point they check payout, whether it be from running game audits or checking card history when redeeming a large prize, less fair arcades will take out the high value pucks with the quickness if they feel they're being beaten too badly. (Yes, I'm calling you out, Greg the technician at Zone 28, for taking the 1,000 and 750 puck out of Tower of Tickets on the day I rang up enough tickets to get your Switch bundle, before I was even off the property - out of the 100,000 tickets I won that day, less than 10,000 of them were on Tower and THAT'S the change you decided to make?) Having multiple cards, one dedicated to Tower specifically, and then merging cards together or obfuscating where the bulk of the tickets came from, may be necessary to prevent them from making such moves.
If you're looking at any version of Tower with a 1,000 puck, a fair price per play, using the platform...I'd put this above Pop the Lock if it's the 250 + 100 payout version D&B uses, but below Pop the Lock if we're referring to any arcade where it's 500 tickets + tickets earned during play, on a version that's medium or easier, without difficulty adjustment based on player winnings. Given what I have access to, I would say Tower is the top game you've reviewed so far.
(And yes, I read your descriptions - Persona isn't my bag but awesome that you're having fun with it!)
(...still want to make a Gridiron video with you someday.)

for an april fools video maybe you could review a non-redemption game like the Mario Kart arcade games or Metal Slug or w/e as if you're constantly trying to figure out how to make tickets come out or something.

emulate the Marble Madness prototype and review it as if it's a redemption game (and winning gives you the jackpot)
