  • This video looks at the basic history of the city of Buenos Aires. It begins with its double foundation in 1536 and 1580. Follows its status as a backwater within the Spanish Empire, its development as a center of contraband and continues on to its role as a main instigator of independence from the Spanish. It then looks at its conflict with the interior provinces, its emergence as a modern prosperous city at the turn of the 20th century, the arrival o hundreds of thousands of immigrants and then looks at how Peronism, and the long struggle for democracy in the 20th century changed it. It ends with Alberto Fernández.

Do one on Lima and its 500 years of centralism and aristocracy.

    •  Před 2 lety

Lima is on the queue, but it's going to take a while. First, there's another one on Argentina and one on the history of rock in Latin America that people asked for.

Thom Hartmann is so dishonest. He once cited Argentina as a country that cut spending during a recession as an example of it being the “last thing to do” during a recession, but failed to mention how taxes were also hiked, which really is the last thing you should do in them.
