8 months off Achilles is damn scary, his explosiveness, his ability to shift quickly off his feet, they gave him the bag to risk coming back early wish he was at 100% for this fight. Kobe had a fully recovery time and rehab, & never came back the same.
Nah he's within the range for average time to return to normal activity after a Achilles rupture surgery. Its usually 6 to 12 months so 8 months is good. I'm sure he'll be fine
This is basically what I am thinking so I’m wondering why so many people think Jamahal is going to be coming back 100% so quick. It’s possible he can win this not at 100%, and he might. But he risks hurting himself in this performance too. Even making it out of the fight without doing any negative or worse damage to the rehabbed heel could be tricky.

Both seems to have most power in there lead hands, left hook vs right hook. I think Alexes chin will hold up well at light heavy weight. We saw him eat good shots against Yan and yiri. Jamals head kick vs Alexes leg kick. Wonder if he will target inside leg kick instead of switch kick since jamal south paw. This is a big jump for jamal who hasn't really fought some as big and skilled as Alex is as a striker.

We cannot know how bad his achiles was.... 12 months or 6 months till healed. I would not bet against his achiles
@@busymountain usually after a month or so you can go back to weight bearing. Fighting in the UFC? Idk. Sounds pretty dangerous, but 8 months of recovery seems pretty fine to me. If he got proper treatment, and trained that leg to regain that strength, he could be fine. But I'm not a doctor.

pereira is the better striker, hill is fundamentally good with basic striking which will help him with his defense but i just see pereira piecing him up the way o malley did to chito the whole fight. i don't think hill is going to get tko'd though
Pereira doesn't move or feint nearly as good as O'malley. Pereira is smart and has better tactics than Hill but Hill is really good about distance and not over extending his punches. Hill is a lot slicker than Pereira's previous opponents.

@Henry - you didn’t mention that Jamahal’s been fighting in a smaller octagon at the apex for like 4 of the last five fights. When he gets back out there might also be tricky to find the distance if Alex moves around the cage. But probably not going to make much difference if they stand and meet in the middle. He def benefits from the smaller cage in those fights where he could pressure and cut off the other guy

Hill is a good matchup. I might bet on Alex. Hill can get in n out before Alex can react. Alex can overpower Hill n hammer fist, elbow, knee, liver jab shot by the cage. We’ll see.
I actually think alot of people don't give Jamal enough credit, and they certainly overlook how good he is. I notice he has a high fight IQ. He moves quite well, knows how to use his power, and can adjust well depending on what his opponent is doing. That's a tough matchup for Alex. Alot of people have Alex cakewalking Jamal, but I do not. If Jamal's achilles is fully healed and strong, and Alex will surely test that out, it's either going to be a long night for someone, or someone is going to sleep. I do not have Alex washing Jamal as I see some do.
Jamahal head hunts way too much. The way he knocks out guys is by stocking them. Over 60% of his strikes is to the head, hes not dynamic enough for me to pick him. Izzy gave Alex problems because Izzy is dynamic, he distributes his attacks over the whole body, Jamahal is too one dimensional on the stand up (and that says a lot about the current state of LHW). If Jamahal is going to win its certainly not going to on the feet, he better bring out the Dagestani in him to win this fight.
@fimmyk All that to basically assert the exact same line I see everywhere which is this is going to be a blowout by Alex and Hill will be outclassed. I do not buy that at all. This "headhunting" you bring up is how he won the championship. Hill has never lost on the feet to this day. Alex has. Izzy's "dynamism" as you claim were only his strikes when Alex cornered him and Izzy exposed his chin in that last fight. Jiri is "dynamic" as well(which he's exhibited his entire career), but suddenly, that doesn't matter or is brought up when Alex beats him.
I like Alex. I like Hill. I don't have this being an easy fight for Alex, nor do I for Hill. This being a wash for either fighter is nonsense.

All the things I said about Hill headhunting etc are actual facts, all his fights he never really uses kicks or target the body that much. He always target the heads. This ain’t me hating, it’s just me pointing out statistical facts. Just because I’m picking Alex to win doesn’t mean that I’m hating or Hill or underestimating him. In my opinion (humbly) on the feet I don’t see a path to victory for Hill. He has to take Alex down.
@fimmyk First, just to get this out of the way, you can't say Hill has no way to win at all at the end, outside of becoming a wrestler(which is a complete departure from his game while assuming that's his only tool that's useful), but then state you don't have this being a walk in the park. These two cannot be reconciled, which is literally what is being stated by everyone picking by Alex. I'm not buying the entirety of that dynamic.
Also, stop quibbling about the "headhunting" comment as if I did not affirm that all his wins are on the feet. Again, Hill has never lost on the feet. Alex has lost on the feet, and was put to sleep. Hill is not sloppy on the feet either, as you seem to indicate.
Further, I never said you were hating at all. I simply disagree with your assessment that Hill has no options outside of a takedown. I think that, as I said before, this is nonsense.
Hill targets the head because they go to sleep, and he can do it anywhere in the cage. He has no reason to deviate from what won him a championship that he never lost. Alex doesn't have much movement and fights straightforward, muay thai style. Hill, from my observation, has better movement than Alex. I'm simply saying it won't be easy for either fighter, but I do believe Hill can knock him out and it won't go five rounds like Taxeira. Alex can also knock out Hill, or even dismantle his legs with those kicks which will be used in combination on Hill that he must be prepared for, which I believe he will be because he's a smart fighter. I don't even buy that the way to beat Alex is on the ground solely-and I do believe Hill has a ground game(especially after the mistake he made in the Craig fight), just to be clear, and can kick as well-because he works with Glover.
This is far more of a complex fight than it's being made out to be.
