Jim Palmer getting emotional is a rare moment. But when it is about Brooks Robinson it is highly appropriate.

Born and raised in The Bronx. Lifetime Yankees fan. I got to see Brooks play in the early 70's when the Orioles came into Yankee Stadium. Brooks Robinson was the only non-Yankee player I ever idolized. Every kid I knew wanted to be Brooks Robinson. We love you Brooks, R.I.P.

I started watching the Orioles in 1964 when I was 6 yo. Brooks was my favorite ever since. I was at 33rd Street in April of 1977 when Brooks hit a pinch hit 3 run homer to win the game. Still have the ticket Stub. As great as he was on the field, and he surely was, he was an even greater human being. It's been said that the only reason someone doesn't have a Brooks autograph is because they didn't ask, meaning Brooks would never turn anyone down. I sure Brooks will be turning two with the other greats who've gone before. Rest in Peace Brooksie.

When I was a kid our little league team won the championship. Brooks and 3 other Orioles were at the banquet. He signed our certificates and our gloves. As an 11 year old kid....I was starstruck. I still have both the glove and the certificate. I'm now 58.
    Rest easy, Mr Robinson.

I just missed Brooks playing everyday, because I became an everyday fan in 1979. Brooks is the greatest Orioles player and Mr. Oriole.
I was lucky to see Robinson on tv earlier this year, and he still looked alert and very aware! Brooks was a regular guy, and he was a man who shared with those who seeked his opinion and guidance! Brooks was very interesting to listen to on TV as an announcer too!
RIP- Brooks old boy” , I Loved calling you a Baltimore ORIOLE” (the Best Orioles player ever): ❤❤❤❤⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

    18 Gold Gloves. 16 in a row.
    That’s insane.
We had a pretty good one here in Philly named Michael Jack Schmidt.
Who’s the second best third baseman ever.
But Brooks was simply the best.

Wasn't old enough to remember him play but I remember when Brooks would broadcast with Chuck Thompson on WMAR. An ambassador of the game of baseball! IMO the best to ever play 3rd base! RIP Brooks and thank you for all of the great memories and being a great of the Orioles organization as well as a Baltimore sports legend!

How lucky we were to grow up when hometown baseball - with giants of the game - was on the tube for everyone, regardless of means, almost every night! I often wonder how many potential fans of the game (and potential future players) never come to be as a result of the monetization of restricted access. Another invisible divider into something that for many cities served as a uniter.

as a kid I learned to play infield by watching Brooks on TV. My mom would get mad because I'd tear out the knees of my pants and ruin my shirt diving for ground balls. My dad was the one hitting me balls so evidently he didn't mind. God speed Mr. Robinson.
