▶It was the largest mall in St John's before Avalon Mall was built.
▶Now sadly, it seems that it is a dying mall because when I visited the last not this many stores were closed

#TheVillageMalll,#StJohns#NL#CANADA,
I have great memories of going to this mall when I was a child/teenager, and even meeting up with my girlfriend there in my late 20s. This place used to be such a center of activity, and a great alternative to those who didn't like the Avalon Mall or found that harder to get to. It really is sad to see it in this condition, and I believe some of the stores that were there in '21 are gone now as well - Crescent jewellers, for one.
I don't know if it was Walmart and Sears pulling out or maybe something else occurred (lease was too expensive?) or a combination of a bunch of things, but the smaller stores aren't going to keep this afloat indefinitely. I can see it turning into what the Mount Pearl Square (it'll always be Sobeys Square to me!) location has - office space.
Thank you for doing this. I wish someone had had the foresight to do a walk-thru back in the late '80s or early '90s when it was still a busy place.
Although I have not lived in St John's for a long time, I heard something like you said from my friends about this mall.
No problem. Glad you liked this video.
I remember where Dollarama was it was Woolco, 2 floors, where AR Rosy is used to be Sears, also for those that don’t know or remember the top floor of Sears collapsed one winter
It is sad. That mall changes a lot in a bad way.
wow this is really a vilage, massive!!
So sad
I remember this mall in the early 80s as a child. The food court had penny tiled floor and orange plastic benches to sit on. The old village logo sign you could see from Bowering Park. Memories. I no longer live in NL. Haven’t been there since 2005.
I did not know that the mall has been that long. There must have been big changes
@@walkersup Yea it’s been there since at least the late 70s. Saw a picture of Village mall on Facebook vintage St John’s page. Avalon mall opened in 1967.
Back when it was an interesting place and had the fountain.
I have great memories of being the Marketing Director there with Terry Harvie as GM in the 90's. What a great team back in the day. I would relocate in a heartbeat to work on leasing this mall back to 100% full. What a challenge!
I know it is sad there are many empty stores.
I got stopped by security for recording in the Village. But my Video was finished anyway.
This mall seems the same when I was last there in 2009, not much has changed...still more livelier than Sobeys Square (if it is still there). Great video as always! 👍👍👍
Thank you for watching, I don't see the change either compared to when I visited for the first time.
*UPDATE* Bed Bath and Beyond is having a closing sale in the Village Mall as the Bed Bath & Beyond corporation will be closing 54 out of it’s 65 Canadian operations, 11 of which that are gonna remain are all in Ontario.
Everything is closing...
that GoodLife Fitness is now called something else.... Fit For Life maybe. March 2023
Looks like businesses are going down... not too many people
It is sadly, dying mall
No body goes to the Village Mall anymore because there is nothing there. Bring back the fountain ⛲️. And maybe people will return.
Lovely place.i wish to visit it.
Try to avoid winter if you come to travel lol
@@walkersup dear freind do you live there, or you are a student there ?i want to know more
@@fazilet_calender Yeah I live here.
Thanks for the video Bando, I'm pleased to know that there is another shopping center similar to the Avalon Mall. How far is this Mall from Mun?
Unfortunately, Avalon Mall and this mall are all malls in St John's 😅. To Avalon mall from mun, it takes around 20 minutes by walk. From mun to this mall, I recommend taking a bus. It will take longer than 30 minutes to walk.
@@sidbeb Good luck on that. Safe Trip~
@@walkersup Thank you Bando, your videos have really helped me to visualise what my new journey will be like.
@@walkersupl cc
@@sidbeb How are you finding St Johns
Where is the Walmart and staples ?
Walmart is next to this mall but for staples you need to go other areas.
@@walkersup Walmart next to village closed down a few weeks ago unfortunately
@@meaghan4696 Really? wow... it was there when I visited the Village mall
@@walkersup yeah it closed June 3 or 4th I believe!
That will mean you will have to go to Kelsey Drive now to go to both Walmart and Staples
Make a video on tennies club
I don't think they would let me in just for a video. But I would if I joined the club.
But.i want to see riverdale club. And greenbelt tennies club
@@malikhammad7202 It is out of my hands I am afriad to say. Sorry. You can use other resources if you are urgent I think.
