The US is the overwhelming favorite to win team gold, no matter who makes the team.
They will be slight favorites to win team gold without Simone but they are definitely OVERWHELMING favorite once she is part of it.
@@aliciamcdonald7105They’d still be the favorite without Simone since Russia won’t be competing. That’s usually our biggest competition.

@@fayeslover Did you read my comment? I said they would be SLIGHT favorites WITHOUT Simone but overwhelming favorites WITH her and that is a FACTUAL statement. Every other team will fancy their chances against a US team without Simone but will feel they are only competing for silver or bronze with her in the team.
The easy 3 for me are: Simone, Suni, and Shylese. Laurie is so gorgeous!

Not this season, unfortunately. She used to be able to get by on her sky-high D scores, but her fire isn't there at the moment; I honestly think she's tired. NCAA plus elite is a LOT, and I totally respect and admire her for it, but it's understandable that she's a bit spent!
I really was hoping for her sake that she'd get her team medal, but I'm just not seeing it at the moment unless Skye can't sustain the Cheng.
@@SweetSirenia No she never does full difficulty until Olympic trials, it was the same in 2021 (although she already secured her Olympic spot via the specialist route). Her coach/dad said she can easily add one more full twist to every pass on FX...
@@Taureanfitness What we don't need is Chiles. She'll bomb during team events in Paris just as she did in Tokyo and Liverpool. She's a liability.

I think the team will be Simone, Shi, Suni, Jade and either Skye or Jordan whoever does better at trials for that last spot. Jade is about to upgrade her vault and floor routines for trials, she has been holding back. She also scores better with international judges than she does domestic judges.
Floor: Simone, Shi, Jade
Vault: Simone, Shi and Jade or Skye
Bars: Simone, Shi, Suni
Beam: Simone, Shi, Suni
Alternates will be Jordan and Kayla I think

I'm looking forward to the day when Laurie Hernandez will be the main commentator for NBC gymnastics and if she can be paired with some younger, enthusiastic co-host who was a former, decent male gymnast we could have our own Tara-Johnny combo for gymnastics like they do for figure skating! Honestly, I'd love for them to bring over Dominique Dawes though. She's the most professional speaker gymnastics has ever produced.

I would pick Simone, Shilese, Jade, suni (i guess), and probably Jordan. If Skye can not be inconsistent and go 8/8 at trials, i would take her over Jordan.
Yeah Skye has to prove it that it wasn’t luck and that she’s actually consistent. Also she isn’t even consistent with her Cheng because Carey score better day 2. Jade has the consistency to back her up where Skye doesn’t.
@@cypherfoxe470 that's exactly my reasoning. Jade is also upgrading her dty to an amanar, which will inherently score higher. And I KNOW she wants redemption for her vault error in Tokyo and I really hope she gets that chance.
@@cypherfoxe470 I want very badly for Jade to get her fire back for Trials because I agree that she's a safer bet than Skye. I also want her to get a team medal!
At the same time...I keep thinking about the individual events during the team competition and feel like the team is already too heavily skewed towards FX and VT, especially since Simone and Shi are expected to be on all four events. If you take Simone, Shi, Jade, and Suni, and then pick between Jordan and Kayla...I dunno. Skye would help with BB but Kayla, Jade, or Jordan really wouldn't.
@@SweetSirenia my thing is that Skye could do what she did at the other big competitions she has gone too and fall, which would then make her bb score not even worth it.
@@cypherfoxe470 I agree. I am not sold on her for VT the way others are. It was really smart strategy on her part to get into the mix, but it gives me an uneasy feeling. It's the kind of thing where I'd be comfortable using her on BB in a team final but not VT...and if that's the case, is she really needed? Not if Jade improves and Suni is definitely healthy.
Sad for Jade but she should have worked on her dance etc

@@Taureanfitnessit’s part of their plan for Jade all of her upgrades are being brought to trial so as to pace her and have her be at her peak right when trials occur

@@daniellageorge6068i believe it’s because they cannot compete as a team from what I understand they can send individual athletes but they cannot be an actual team furthermore they cannot compete under their country’s flag or name so that’s likely the reason why ROC will not be competing at the games though it’ll make it interesting to see who will go to the podium besides USA since traditionally Russia has almost always been on the podium so to see another country there might be nice
For WAG, the teams are: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Romania, South Korea, UK, U.S.
No individual Russian or Belarusian athletes unless they are under another citizenship. Looking at the list, no names jump out at me.
