You have to be the hardest working person in the YT photo business. And the most efficient. As always good content, well laid out and well presented. Thanks.
Thanks Sandy, I sure many others work just as hard!
Hello, Matt. I always enjoy watching your videos. I still have a like new Fujifilm instant holder PA-45 which easily fits into the back of my 4x5 camera in place of a film holder. I used it with Fujifilm FP-100c 4x5 professional instant film. It was very easy to use, no spacers necessary. The film had to be manually pulled out of the holder to start development. Of course this was during the years when the original instant Poloroid film was still available. It seems the wheel is always being re-invented.
Thanks and great stuff. Yes you’ll
See me using that film in a video to come. So sad they discontinued FP films.
I had no idea this kind of kit even existed! Thanks once again for broadening my photography horizons!
Great! Then the video was a success for me. Thanks!
Nice video! Ethan at Cameradactyl has made a 3D printed spacer for the Lomograflok back that has a built in focusing screen, so you can leave your delicate and expensive glass view screen in the bag and use the spacer for composing and focus, then quickly swap it for the Instax back using the Graflok back flange.
Ah awesome, yes I think I did see that in a video when I was researching before I bought it. Ethan is a clever dude!
I'm definitely going to have to try this!
@Matt its worth getting the BFC (Brooklyn Film Camera) Adapter. It was so worth it. Pricey at $85.
Thanks! I've never even heard of it so I'll get on Google. Many thanks!
Servus Matt✌✌
Ich sag dazu nur cooles Video und Top Bilder.
Lg Anderl
Thanks!
Matt one quick thought you're working with a view camera. Use your shift, and rise and fall to move the sharp centerpoint of the lens to the mask area.
Nice idea! I don't think it will be entirely possible but yes you're correct it could definitely improve it. Thanks!
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom Depending on the lens board and lens combination. You can do an off-center lens board also to move the lens to the edge.
lot of fun content. I think I would just use the Insta wide printer, shoot a digital image and send to printer. Not the same, but easier, faster.
Thanks Laura, yes that's for sure an easier option but if you're going that route there are better options too. I'll try to get the next video out soonish!
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom look forward to it.
How to completely overengineer a cheap, portable instax setup 🤣 was totally worth it though, amazing experience and weekend 🙏
Thanks Thomas! Great having you and yes haha it was far from instant but a lot of fun :)
That was fun. I'm on the look out for a 4x5. But now tempted to add this item to my wish list as well (GAS).
Yes the guys had so much fun in London. 3 of 5 wanted to or got 4x5 cameras after the day!!
That's really cool, I keep thinking about picking up an instant camera (considered the Leica Sofort 2 as well) as they are so fun but the costs of the film etc add up and I didn't get to the point of deciding which one. Also considered those bluetooth instant printers to send your photos which it then prints instantly so can be used with a digital Leica etc. Think I'll do some browsing. :D
Yes 100% re. other options too. That video is coming but I might need to do a few lens reviews first!
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom I grabbed the Instax last night as apparently the film is available worldwide (not always true for the others), so easier for travel and has the border for writing on.
A great review of the Lomography back Matt, I had thought about getting one to use with my MPP and your video is the best review I've seen to date. It looks very messy, did you find this a hinderance when shooting portraits with it? The beach and photos of the camera all look great so. I may have to rethink getting one.
Thanks Jim! Yes I tried to use it for a few months so to have plenty of example photos (and learn the good and the bad!) For the money it's excellent. I just point out the facts and hope they make an improved v2 in the future! Once you get used it to it's fine and especially if you are shooting at a casual pace. I don't feel i've mastered Fuji Instax film yet so I will keep using it now I know the limitations. (We didn't have a single fail on the day in London so it works well).
For anyone wanting to try this with flash, I would suggest rating at EI 1000. EI 800 always ends up with blown out highlights for me.
Thanks great tip, I must admit i've not tried with flash yet (well not in recent years)
WOW, that guy said hold my $550 camera while I grab this $2 print. lol
Haha all friends here! We frequently swap cameras
Is that a Linhoff badge on that camera?
It's fun to watch the guys learn to use the 4x5. I feel their pain.
Forgetting to remove the dark slide was one of my faults. I ended up writing on the back the admonition Dark Slide Stupid!
The polaroid back was much simpler. I miss it!
Thanks, Matt!
Thanks Michael! Well spotted! It's a Linhof lens board but not a Linhof camera (You'll see my Linhof camera in other videos!) Yes it was great fun and agree I wish there was a Polaroid 600 back
Fun vid, ok now, BIGGER clearly, SHARPER than the plastic cap of the Sofort easy, CHEAPER ?? R'U sure ? I personally doubt. This being said the clever use of a Sofort is printing your Leica SL/M photo with the Foto app, but of course you know that :)
Thanks Damien! Sharper and bigger is easy yes, and price for shots are similar and if you only include the back (assuming you have a 4x5 camera) it is cheaper vs the price of the Sofort BUT as you say the Leica offers a few other nice benefits too!
The off centre issue is the strangest. Didn’t they have any beta testers with vintage lenses…?
Yes but if you think in reverse. They are using existing technology and trying to reverse mod it to a 4x5. It's off centre normally due to how the film fits. Funnily I was a beta tester around 2-3 yrs ago but at the time my SpeedGraphic shutter jammed and another wasn't working so I never made a video. I reached out to them this year and said I want one anyway to use so i'd make them a video to show others. Hopefully they'll make an improved v2!
Can I connect my Leica CL to a smartphone that is connected to a instead printer?
You can try. I don't use the Leica app but yes Instax printers let you print digital files. There are better options. I'll try to get my next video out soon so wait for now I would.
Do you ever wonder how much of other peoples money you are responsible for spending ? 😁 recently bought a summitar f2 50mm and Elmar 90mm f/4 collapsibles after watching your channel !! thankyou for those convincing reviews 😉 ... but have found a hole in your review portfolio😎 .. as a need a cheaper 35mm lens . Identified the 35m f2.8 Summaron as a possible , imagine my shock and horror to find my go to guy has no review for that one , what's up with that ??? 😉, might also look at the summarit f.2.5 35mm but the Summaron is my preference , failing that the LLL 35mm could be an option .. but would prefer the geninue more vintage option .
Ha thanks! I reviewed the 35mm f3.5 Summaron as I bought that one instead. I've never owned the 2.8 but I hear it's nice. I skipped it and went to f2 with the LLL 35mm f2 8E and others.
