bbbarfly is almost a legendary bali company in my eyes, theyve been around since ive been flipping in the mid 2000s and while they always make chonkers, theyre good and variety is their bag
Not to mention the fact that they can provide flippers in countries like Austrlia, who have a hard time getting balisongs cus of laws, sinc ethey identify as bottle openers

A few things I wanted to note about the new score system:
These scores are based on Will and I's own experiences, and our own opinions. Will and I of course aren't all knowing when it comes to balisongs, and of course different people will have varying experiences with various balisongs and the companies that make them, so we can't speak for everyone. Our goal is to create an "at a glance" system that can give people a general way to compare, contrast, and discover new balisongs. If you disagree with our opinions, feel free to share them! Check out the description to see a breakdown of the criteria for each score! We will continue to fine tune this system so that it can be fair and balanced!

Interested how you got the idea for the scoring system where you break it out into multiple scores out of ten and add them all up for a "Total Score" . And the "flipability" score too

I really love the video, but i think that valuing the categories of opening a box the same as how well it flips, is a flaw in the valuing system, perhaps overwork the thing with like weights, so that you give each category a weight from 1-5 or smth, with wich you multiply the points. So that you weigh unboxing as 2, and flipping as 5, wich would make a perfect unboxing experience equal to 4 points of flipping, wich i think is much more accurate.

Yeah the other thing is that boxing experience is cool, but I literally can't buy new balis in my state from like 80% of retailers so I only buy used

This is a really good review format, I even thought that this is better than the regular review video. Don't get me wrong, the effort you put into the regular video is really great for making it more cinematic, but sometimes what I want in a review video is an actual review, just straightforward
I love the HS blade model the most, but the blade tip should be inverted. Trust me, it would look epic!

Hey really nice review! That News score system you guys thought of is really helpful. Especially that list of balisongs you already reviewed gives a nice Overview. I was Just wondering If you could add another column for the type of blade (live blade/trainer). That would make things a bit clearer. But other than that nicely done!

I love bbbarfly and had the Firefly as a daliy flipper for a long time. And I think it flips great! The Talon Z.X-1 is on another level :D it got jimping zen pins and everything else u would want :)

I really like the format. not because its shorter or anything, but because its more organized. You are probably saying everything you would in a normal video, but each aspect feels more compact to a section which is great.

A category that's missing is experience. I define it as the sound the knife make, the texture of it and in general how much the knife feels premium and well made.
We actually talked about having a score for that, but we felt that was all to subjective of an experience to properly give a score, since, for example, Will and I have very different tastes in terms of what we think feels good in the hand, the sounds we like, and the weight that we like. So, in the name of being as objective as we could, we felt that things like "Durability", "Flipability" and "Value" would cover the bases of talking about the things you mentioned in your comment

Love the video! I have and use this balisong all the time. I went red and silver. I like to practice on this thing because it feels indestructible. Also stays tuned and flips well. I have others I flip but I feel more like I'm "putting miles" on the others. The bbbarfly and bbfirefly feel like they are made to take a beating.

1st, and foremost, funny as hell, Brando! Keep it up! Now, onto the subject at hand.
I had a V2 Pro, but the handles are just crazy thick. Also, the same thing happened to me w/tuning, as they used Red Loctite, even though I requested NO Loctite. Then, it took a month for the delivery. I put it up on the market and it sold in a day. Guess what? The buyer only had to wait 4 days for the delivery.
No clue on how the company works now, but maaaaaybe they have their shit in order for delivery times now.
The clink sounded good. The weighting was off. The handles were too thick. Anyhoo, I wish them well, but I will never buy a product from them again, unless they can prove me incorrect.

The thing that really aggravates me, is that BBBarfly doesn't give you extra hardware, but also because it took them 2 MONTHS for them to ship the replacement hardware to my friend. I tightened it may be a little too hard to reduce the tap, and it snapped! Great trainer, but 2 months for hardware to get here from Canada to Utah?
Edit: I guess you are not supposed to tune it? Because you said that it keeps its tuning very well, and I was stupid and took it apart to just clean it for my friend I still think you should be able to take it apart without having problems like no matter how much you tighten the screws they don't keep its tuning.
They put a lot of locking material, so if they properly tuned it on their end, then I wouldn't recommend messing with it. When I went to adjust mine I was afraid of stripping the screws ( a good quality screw bit goes a LONG way), thankfully I didn't. That's a very long wait for new hardware though and I'm sorry that happened

Honestly, the thickness benifits imo
I got a firefly it’s really great! Only a couple things, I tried tuning it and I broke one of the screws off inside the handle and also the tang pins pinch my finger sometimes but it’s really not that bad. Worth the money for sure.
I actually bought one last year… it only reached a couple weeks ago…
They might have forgot shipping it but i reached them out and they sent it. It took about 3 weeks to reach here, on Europe.

You guys might want to use a spider graph in place of the fractions at the end to help visualize the strengths and weaknessess of the balisong and make comparison easier

I got a bbbarfly pro v3 when they first dropped, and it's been my main trainer since (only other one is a squiddy) and I know I should get something more standard for better practice with flipping, but the new bbbarfly products are so cool I kind of want to get another one. The firefly z.x-1 seems really cool. For some reason they don't have black as a handle colour it seems though, I wish I could get the red and black like brandon lmao

if you can afford it, i would definitely recommend supporting BBBarfly. they're a bit of a unique flipping experience and worth having in the collection. the ability to not only just order one and go into a queue and get the product but to be able to customize and get exactly what you want is wild. i wish more companies did this. colour scarcity on top of the drop format for what seems like the sake of driving up value (to the uneducated) is quite frustrating.
i do hope in the future they experiment with something with a more 'traditional' flippy shape, because so far the quality, tuning out of the box and craftsmanship seem unmatched. my only complaint is, on Etsy, they don't seem to answer messages. (and also if they see this please bring back orange as a customization option 😭)

Would you agree that people use your score list for the dark side of the balisong community?
My barfly pro is over a year old. Has never been tuned and is still at the same tolerances as it was out of box day one. No play, no tap. Idk how they do it but...God dang
What’s the weight bias and is that different with the various blade styles or the same on all of them?
Also, what exactly makes it 6? Chunky handles, not smooth?
Each model is slightly handle heavy in my experience. It's a 6 due to the heavy weight (4.7 oz), large handles, relatively smooth finish and no jimping on the sides of the handles
What do you think is a more fun bottle opener to flip, Mako 4 or BBFirefly. I have the mako and think it’s fun, but the firefly looks exciting and the customization on it is awesome
It's a hard choice due to the price difference. With the BBFirefly being near twice the price of the of the Mako V4 (depending on the colors you get for both products), I wouldn't say the BBFirefly is "twice" as good as the Mako V4, which I like a lot. The Mako V4 is slightly undersized, and the BBFirefly is oversized. I think the BBFirefly is the more unique at the end of the day though, and the bushings help a lot with the durability of it. Plus you can't beat the customization

They are both very different, perhaps not even really comparable. The Squiddy is very, very light, and relatively cheap, where's the BBfirefly is heavy and large
