    From Wikipedia:
Panama City is a city in and the county seat of Bay County, Florida, United States. Located along U.S. Route 98, it is the largest city between Tallahassee and Pensacola. It is the more populated of two principal cities of the Panama City-Lynn Haven, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 36,484. Panama City was catastrophically damaged when Hurricane Michael made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane on October 10, 2018. When Panama City was incorporated in 1909, its original city limits were 15th Street (Hwy 98) on the north, Balboa Avenue on the west and Bay Avenue on the east.
The development in this once unincorporated part of Northwest Florida had previous names such as Floriopolis, Park Resort, and Harrison. In 1906, the development was named Panama City and it was first incorporated as Panama City in 1909. When Panama City was incorporated in 1909, its original city limits were 15th Street (Hwy 98) on the north, Balboa Avenue on the west and Bay Avenue on the east. According to the Panama City Public Library's A History of Panama City, George Mortimer West hoped to spur real estate development in Bay County during a period of intense popular interest in the construction of the Panama Canal by changing the town's name from Harrison to Panama City, because a straight line between Chicago and Trujillo Honduras the Central American country that's longitudinal line that intersected the Florida town. It is also the town of where filibuster General Walker is buried after being assassinated by Honduran Mercenaries funded by the Shipping Tycoon Vanderbilt .Additionally, since required meanders around land formations in a seaborne route to the canal added distance when starting at other ports, Panama City was the closest developed port in the US mainland to the Caribbean entrance of the Panama Canal.

I lived in Panama City from 2004 to 2018 (ironically, I left the week before Hurricane Michael). As of 2023, it has come back tremendously, but the signs of the storm such as the bent-over trees are still there.

There used to be a lot more trees before Hurricane Michael came through. The city is definitely coming back though.

You didn't notice the missing trees and landmarks? The fact that the City Marina was closed?
It's true, this video only covered Panama City and westward, while the most substantial damage was to the east. Too bad Mike didn't travel east instead.
High quality driving video, Mike. I wish you'd done the eastern burgs, Springfield, Callaway, Parker, Millville.

Even Panama City proper will take decades to return to normal. So many ancient trees were destroyed. Panama City has far fewer trees than it did, and that was one of the nicest things about it. Have you ever been to The Cove? Barely recognizable.

Panama city was a really beautiful city with some of the prettiest trees you've ever seen. Not so now it has been estimated that we lost 80% of our tree canopy. Last couple summers have been hotter than I can remember and I have lived here all my life. It's surely not the and still looks depressing... You were on beach drive BTW that road took you to Beck ave in St. Andrews...

Panama City is spread out .There is a lot of little area s of cities like Callaway and Springfield and Lynn Haven and st. Andrews and Parker in Panama city.most of these videos go through the same areas again and again. They never go down 23 rd street never go 77 never go 15 the st or 11th st.We find most people do these try and show the bad areas like they just want to show us in a bad light. We have a real nice town really spread out over a large area

@@adamjames936 Recently moved up north to Tennessee. Needed more acess to nature/outdoors and the cooler falls/winters.
Recommend moving down there from Oregon, if you don't mind high humidity and almost a never ending summer.
I'd recommend the cove neighborhood area in pc, or move farther west along the coast to Santa Rosa area, panama city beach is very very tourist filled and kids partying alot. go across the bridge to panama city and it's where the locals/everyday working people mostly live now, not touristy over there. I lived in the cove area, which was nice area, low crime, clean and walkable area and close to some not very busy beach/swim spots nearby along (West Beach Drive aka hwy 98)
overall panama city beach (beach side) is expensive and tourist filled except during winter, across the bridge (city side) where alot of the jobs are, also just locals, less money, and more run down in a lot a places, some section of city are gang areas and alot of the city/neighborhoods are still run down from the last hurricane years ago.
and farther west you go of panama city beach,
Starting at city of Rosemary beach everything gets gets nice, cleaner, less crime and less crowded beaches and couple state parks/forests like Point Washington State forest. Santa Rosa beach, rosemary beach, seacrest, seaside are nice areas to live.
Stay out of Springfield, Parker, Calloway,
areas lots of crime, drugs, gangs, and very trashy areas ( where I worked everyday for my job), the cove and downtown panama city areas are the beast places to live if you are thinking about being on panama city side.
Coming from Oregon everything will seem much cheaper, which is nice.
      cheers

This is bull. My home town and you and drive though red lights. Breeze right by the oldest drive-in in town (Talley-Ho) (my Momma worked there in the 50s). Don't even look at the oldest high school in town (Bay High). Miss the most beautiful part of town (Beach Dr). I quit watching. Do a better video of the REAL city. What is the point of your video? Its certainly not showing Panama City. 😡
