Hear, hear.Well said Stephen. Like you, I have been a fan and follower since the early Icicle Works days. I have seen Ian live more than any other musician (we are talking dozens of times) and I never miss a chance to see him again.
Completely agree Ian is a musical genius! I know you focus on CDs but all the newer releases have also been released on vinyl, which is my preferred format ... looking forward to getting my hands on the vinyl for NBR (Vinyl always takes longer ... been pre-ordered a while though) I have met Ian at a number of gigs, both as support act and as the headliner ... you never know what you're going to get on the setlist, which is a great thing .. he has such a wealth of great tunes it must be hard for him to strike a balance between the classics and the new stuff. Birds Fly, my gateway into Icicle Works too ....
A genius for sure. A great musician a songwriter who can deliver in many different, but complementary styles. A clever, witty and erudite lyricist and an engaging and entertaining live act. Nuff said.
Stephen. You are 'a man after my own heart'. I have been following Ian's music since 1983, and can honestly say that he must be one of the most underrated singer/songwriters that have come out of England in the past 40 years.
@@StephenSchnee. You're not wrong Stephen. It's a shame you haven't got to see the great man play live. Not only have I seen him play (both with The Icicle Works & solo) what must be approaching 100 times, but he also came and played to 75 or so, lucky, lucky people in my back garden for my 60th birthday. Also a lovely man, to boot.
YES !
I love his album with THE CRAZY HORSE contribution
Head Like A Rock is probably the one you're thinking of but Merseybeast has a few with Crazy Horse as well (at least I think so)

Hopefully, he heads to the US in 2024! And thank you for watching and commenting!

Fantastic! I've spoken with Ian several times and he's ace!
Hey Stephen, it's great when musicians aren't lazy and do something beside relying on their past glories. Good stuff! Take care...
He could easily stop and just tour Icicle Works until the end, but he's too damn good for that!
Brilliant! I’m now considering trying that blender thing with my music…
Remember to add vitamins! I forgot to mention them!

Nailed it! Even better than I did!

Yeah, once you connect with Ian, there's no reason to disconnect! Always creating great music!

The most down to earth guy you could wish to meet.
Is he a genius tho ? Probably
I've spoken with him numerous times and I'll agree! Never seen him live, though. Perhaps one day!
