  • On March 8th, 2024 I left for a bike trip that would take across Eastern Canada when I was 18 years old. Leaving in Winter definitely added to it, but I got to meet so many great people, and see so many things that not many get to see. This is the first part of the trip, biking Winnipeg till Halifax.

      Lots of ramen noodles, oatmeal, hotdogs, peanut better and jam, trail mix, and granola bars, I often went to Walmart, but other times just smaller places as well. Thanks for watching!

      also I have so many question 🙈 what kind of gloves do you wear to be able to keep on riding? and I guess it was too cold to get wet from the snow mush the many trucks throw up? have driven to Thunder Bay myself BY CAR and the roads were really tough to manage

    • @liamrichard
      @liamrichard  Před 17 dny

      @@paperjourni8964 Thank you! That cold was quite a challenge, and makes it a whole different trip. The thick gloves I just bought from Canadian tire, nothing special, and they did the job. I did get wet quite often with the snow, as my body heat would melt it on my body, all of it was manageable though, just some pretty tough days.

    Dude you amaze me! Just crazy this winter bike packing that you do. You one tough dude. I think those cops were f**king with you, I ride my bike all over here in Montana, and other than the occasional rude driver, no one hassles me. You rule dude, keep it up.

    I'm liking your license plate collection, are you actually keeping those plates? I imagine they could begin to get in the way, and also as to weight of your gear. Keep it up my man.

      Yep, keeping the plates, by the time I got back to Winnipeg I was probably hauling at least 12. Thanks for watching!

    Liam, this was phenomenal to watch. I just took a trip out to Emo, ON crossing my first border too and my first multi-day trip! To see you in Halifax, cycling around reminded me of last summer when I also did the same (mind you, I flew out then biked around) but watching this was kind of surreal for me... Anyways, keep it up man. Where are you heading to next?

    • @liamrichard
      @liamrichard  Před 17 dny

      That’s awesome man, hope that border crossing wasn’t too bad haha. So cool to see someone to relate to in a way, riding a few of the same areas! Not sure what the next one will be quite yet

  • @joshandjamesvosperfromhere6887

    This is such a great video. Loved the eclipse! Did you actually plan your trip so that you could be in the line of totality? The weather looked crazy! And to think we are going to follow in a lot of your Trax, but in much more reasonable weather...we hope. We will be watching this one again before we leave. What an amazing accomplishment! Safe travels this summer!

    • @liamrichard
      @liamrichard  Před 19 dny +1

      Thank you! I thought about it a little bit before, but once I got to Montreal I decided for sure that I was gonna go try to get in that path of totality. The next video will be even more so with the areas you’ll bike, just going the opposite way, hopefully the weather is good, and good tail winds! Safe travels

      @liamrichard  Před 15 dny

      Only saw 1 bear this trip, as most of my trip, they still weren’t out yet. Last trip though I saw 22, some coming a tad close. I just had bear spray just in case but I never had an issue. Thanks for watching!

    Nice video! You seem to bicycle a lot on main roads and highways. Is there a reason for that? Where I live (Europe) we usually stick to back roads (gravel roads, dirt roads or countryside roads) with less traffic.

    • @liamrichard
      @liamrichard  Před 14 dny

      I definitely took a few of the main hwys, definitely took a lot of small hwys this trip too. Often taking the main hwys means there’s a nice big shoulder, and it’s often not crazy busy besides in the cities. Sometimes there also isn’t any other options for different hwys to take, especially in northern Ontario, and a few other places as well.

    Liam.. if you have a powerful enough telescope, you can see the shoreline of Chicago across the GL... with what they call the "curve of the earth" and math, that shore line would not be visible as it would be 6' under water.. . clearly visible on a clear day. that proves what kind of earth we live on.. NO CURVE detected/demonstrated. LOL. as you. travel, pay attention to the old world architecture (even with our "modern" construction/tools) we can not replicate those 30' columns with iron at the core. or the Domed roofs The word "Cathedral" comes from the word cathode.. glass in the Cathode, it blocks the purpose of the old world structures. they try to tell us that a horse and buggy age built this.. LOL You have an opportunity to see first hand. Isaac Taylor"s 5 hour documemtary "the Lost History of Earth". will open your eyes to and change your experience on this journey.
    I really like your Axiom front racks. I have been looking for the right rack for my MTB. I just ordered a set because of your video.
