- Nicholas Hammond stars as Spidey in the very first live-action adaptation of the classic superhero. Co-starring Chip Fields, the show lasted two seasons, with episodes being edited together for theatrical release in Europe. This particular version of the theme song is from season two.
Being born in the 80's I grew up with this Spidey. It may not be great, but I loved it as a child.

GOD this theme is so 70s that it could be played during the dance off in Starsky & Hutch and would match.
There's a lot of similarities between this and the Tom Holland suit actually. I like that, it's like they've decided to go more retro but still maintain a modern take.

Honestly this doesn’t look too bad for the first live action Spider Man series. And that music is BANGIN. Costume ain’t half bad either, it’s grown on me.
I think the only bad thing about the show apart from the inexistent budget is the fact that none of the Spider-Man villains are in it, even Stan Lee hated the show and he sadly passed away days before he and the actor of this spiderman show could talk and make amends
@@kodekYT They were going for a more realistic feel like The Incredible Hulk and most of Spiderman's villains were far from realistic. Though I think Kingpin would've fit right in that universe he definitely could've been a great villain for this series.

I agree. I just learned this existed and looked it up expecting worse. For a 1970s tv show aimed at kids this looks fine, probably would’ve watched this if I was growing up then.

Never mind the crap some really jaded souls say about this show. When it came out in '77 it was huge. Like, really HUGE. A decade removed from the classic Batman TV series with Adam West and just three years after the debut of Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman, this was the first live action show based on a Marvel property beating Lou Ferrigno's The Incredible Hulk by just a few months. The 2 Spidey sequels released for the international market did well at the box office too.

Loved this series when I was young, always liked the fact that Spider-Man fought against real people, not supervillains, I know none of it is realistic but I think that feature added a sense of realism

When the pilot episode of Spider-Man aired on CBS-TV in 1977, it was the year of the arachnid adventurer's 15th anniversary in Marvel Comics.

This is still my favourite TV/Movie version of Spider-Man. a) The stories were more interesting b) The primitive special effects actually look more real to me than the CGI in movies. c) I love that music.
Only problem with this series was Spider-Man never talked unlike the Spider-Man in the comics/cartoons who was always making wisecracks.

Sounds like this could be remade into a theme for Spider-Man Noir. Start at 0:18, play it at 0.75 and imagine something else playing instead of the funk filler music. Like, smooth jazz or something. Might also suit Noir better if played at a deeper pitch.

Had there been an episode of Spider-Man in which the wall-crawler meets the Hulk, the green-skinned giant would've been surprised and confused to see a masked man crawling up the wall and angry if Spider-Man used his web on the creature after hearing that he's wanted for murder. The ratings for this show if it had the cast of The Incredible Hulk in it as a 1 or 2-hour episode would've made the show's ratings soar so high.
