Zac deserves this Oscar nomination more than anyone! It's been a long journey for him and he deserves some recognition after all these years of hard work.

If this film doesn't get any nominations it will be a travesty. I haven't cried like this in film in a long while. That moment when Zac was watching his kids and they ask him whats wrong, so he says something like "I used to be a brother," god damn that hit me.
Hey man that seen legitimately happened to, I remember hearing Kevin talk about it years ago. Him watching his boys playing as brothers, remembering playing with his brothers and them all being gone....dang man hit me too.
when the kids said, "we'll be your new brothers" i fucking lost it completely
I went to see the movie today. I was absolutely blown away with Zac's performance. He was phenomenal! I know what a great Actor he is but he got to my very core with this one. He definitely deserves to be recognized and respected by @TheAcademy. The movie is so amazing so sad. I cried alot. It deserves to be honored too. I'm so very proud of Zac and all the hard work he did for this movie and for his whole career.👏👏 It's his time to shine!🌟 💛
Zac deserves the nomination for The Iron Claw. Such an amazing performance. Academy should really recognise Efron's talent. About time.

its not on ANY shortlist that means the academy voters either don't like it or haven't seen it (2nd being more likely). IF they liked it it would be atleast in the shortlist, but its not even eligible for any technical awards. So its only chances are at the big awards which are mostly unlikely unless efron gets a lot of love.

The entire cast was great but I loved Holt McCallany’s performance as Fritz. He brought a true sense of a man who never captured his dreams and lived vicariously through his sons to full full his longing need to be a champion. His love and support for his family was clouded by potential unfulfilled. The script was written to set him as the main antagonist but Holt was able to bring a humanity and regret to the character in small and quiet moments. I think his portrayal of Fritz was nuanced and subdued in a way that most actors wouldn’t be able to capture.
Yes! And I also find Holt McCallany the sexiest among them even with his clothes on.
He channeled Kevin von Erich without really meeting him. He did a phenomenal job. The man who played Fritz was incredible.

This should get nominations for best picture, best actor Zac Efron, best supporting actor Holt Mccallany, best original screenplay

The screenplay was the best I’ve seen all year for this film. The acting was top notch. Zac Efron definitely deserves an Oscar nomination for this role. My goodness. Very well done clap. C’mon Oscar’s give this film 3-4 Oscar noms even if it doesn’t win anything 🤞
I cannot compliment Zac Efron enough for this performance. He truly gave it everything!
Just got done watching it. As far as biopics go with the generic formula that most follow, this one hit very different. You become attached to the brothers and even though you may know what happens, it’s done so beautifully that it still hits you like a gut punch. A fantastic film.

The international film press critics that make up the voters for the Golden Globe Awards are unable to understand or identify with a family of athletes from the American South. That, combined with the subculture of the professional wrestling scene in the late-1970s/early-1980s, and the themes of the film become concepts that are alien to their collective experience. They cannot hope to understand or identify with this film.

Only disappointment with Iron Claw is the movies choice to humanize the father in this movie. In real life Fritz was not as loving and more of a corrupted tough loving father. That detail would've put more emphasis on why Zacs character was a doom and gloom type from the beginning besides him talking about his cursed last name. Great Movie Don't Get Me Wrong I Still Cried. Go Watch It!
I think the movie did a great job at illustrating that the dad was forcing HIS dreams onto his kids. He pushed them too hard and literally ranked them to their faces. He was taking money from them. He told them not to cry at funerals. The end of the movie hits so hard because Kevin is finally his own person. He chokes his dad within an inch of his life and then cries his eyes out for all the times he had to hold those tears in
@Luke101 there were strong hints of that side but not enough emphasis in my opinion. Would've made movie a lot heavier in my opinion

Loved the movie however alot left out didnt like that they left out Chris, David's daughter that died, the whole Lance thing & even the divorce this could have been a 3 1/2 hour story alot missed

@@vikachu6872 saw some plastic surgeons do videos about it and its likely that yes he did have an operation on his jaw for his accident, but he also used it to make more alterations on his jaw. Efron's always has been critical of his image despite how people think he is attractive.

@@user-ey6vk5gu4o yup, his accident was about a decade ago. But the widening jaw developed as a result of his physical therapy routine he’s had to do since that surgery. Growth of masseter muscles causes the chin to widen and bow/bulge out at the sides, much like his now.
