If you want a budget-friendly Android tablet then this is one of your best options, although you'll need to use Amazon's online services to truly appreciate it. This 10th Gen model improves on performance with a new chipset and extra RAM, while battery life clocks in at around 10-12 hours depending on usage. The 2020 Fire HD 8 definitely offers good value at under £100, while the Plus model gives you a slight specs boost for a little extra cost.

Does the Kindle fire 8 have a Usb port that can possibly read USB files? I have seen an instructor online who offers his classes as USB thumb drives. So I wanted to know if it is possible to put the USB stick into a Kindle fire 8 and possibly watch the instruction (depending on the file type- which I believe would be some type of video)

I bought the last version of this for Mrs Metalman last Christmas and apart from being painful slow it did every thing she wanted, reading books, updating Facebook and reading her Daily Mail. I think next years Christmas has now been sorted. Cheers Alan

You never said how comfortable it is to hold when reading a book? I am considering the 7 as it is smaller but it has worse image and speakers when I want to watch something. So if you have average male adult hands can you hold the 8 in one hand without hand strain?

I just got my Fire 7 (2019 edition) 3 days ago. Good enough for Netflix and CZcams.😁👍 If have to install social media apps, have to use the lite versions of the apps to keep the tablet from lagging.

Can buy this with their installment plan also. So handy. No interest or tax. They just split the payments into five and you pay exactly what you would pay if you bought it outright. Been buying so many things that way.
Does the immersion read audiobook work on this version?

I bought the 2020 fire HD 8 and this tablet is just fine for me. I put in a 128 GB sd card and uploaded movies and raw DV tape video and the tablet handles it pretty good! Some games and Facebook and I'm good to go!! Also the battery 🔋 is pretty good so if your flight is delayed, go watch some TV on the fire HD 8 😎
Can you use this for microphone to do some on CZcams? What about USB ports for microphones?

depends on several factors. does glare bother you? is weight important? is battery life important? do you only read black & white print? if so kindle paperwhite is FAR superior in all these regards. if you want a multimedia tablet that can read books and color magazines/comics/etc, fire hd tablets would be a better choice
Honestly I went with the HD8 to solve the answer to that question. I figured what is the point to limiting myself? Granted I have several different iOS devices. But I want kindle only device so now I got one thanks to prime day. Lastly it’ll help during those moments when I am grid down and need some entertainment.
still using a paperwhite for reading. this is designed for multimedia. slow machine--laggy controls. Screen is too crappy to display fonts without making them look all strange and 8 bit. The biggest issue I'd have is the weight of the device. It's not comfortable to hold in an excess of positions. Kindle Paperwhite i hold between my fingers like a cigarette.

The catch with the Kindle, and there is one, is that the majority of apps (usually games) can't be installed onto the additional SD card. And comics work only on a bigger screen. Parents usually like that.
In the past I have had both the Lenovo 7 and 10 inch the picture and sound quality I couldn't fault as with the performance however I've found the charging port on both models became faulty with regular use ( slow charging ) and was expensive to repair !

Unfortunately, the email app doesn't work. I'm using the gmail app for fire tablet but, you can't download attachments. When you hit the download button, it puts the email in the trash.
Does this model support OTG capabilities?
If I only knew that this tablet would meet everything that I've needed? I shouldn't bought an Apple IPad which is more 10X more time in price!. This amazing tablet will meet everyone's need which is nothing but net shopping and net surfing....not unless if you're a web designer then you'll get something better and higher but I really doubt people do that. I'm extremely happy with this tablet and I just can't put it down tbh!.

I was thinking about getting a kindle paperwhite so that i could read more books. However when I was looking at the reviews, apparently they dont come with sd cards. So the storage you have when you buy it, is the storage you have. You aren't able to get more storage unless you buy an entirely new tablet. Im am trying to find a ereader that im able to take notes and highlight with the book(i believe its called "annotation"), and also has an sd card, something that convinient to carry around, and b/w. Does anyone have any suggestions? hehe

I tried fix my tblet. I bought lcd screen from ebay 32 $. It arrived n i tought my tblet problem just a lcd screen but even after i fit on it it cannot on. Machine is ok. I hear the sound. But stress rn

Mate 20x is 7.2 inch which is larger in size but don't know how the fire 7 is larger in hand.

Well this device's screen is 7.2 inch. Now let's take a few devices that launched this year:

they are within 0.5' diference in screen size... heck, the samsung is in within only 0.3'... proves my point. There also a tone of other phones this years that all have over 6.4' from budget to flagship. They made even larger screens this year than previous years and the trend will probably continue. 7' isn't far away.

@@HideNLooT but the screen ratio is different, they're nearing 7 inches diagonally but the screens are nowhere that big. I actually hate it. Longer phones are just stupid, they're less useful.

Reading is definitely easier on the eyes than the kindle fire tablet. But if you want a tablet also get the kindle fire hd8 plus

Really good underrated tablet
Ordered the HD10 a couple months ago. Considered this one cause of the memory upgrade (1TB is quite significant upgrade) but I wanted it for reading comics / manga and the 10in size is a lot better for that.

@@MrMultiSuprime Hey Mike, it's still going strong, even got a nifty Star Wars case on it.
I've read a few manga on it with no issues, like Giganto Maxia (RIP Muira). You won't have to zoom too much for most stuff unless you're reading in Japanese, some texts are hard to see the furigana. The screen is bigger than most physical manga pages and a similar size for comicsbooks I've owned. I plan to read more on it once I get more time. I recommend the Tachiyomi app. I see it often, especially when my old phone dies. It was pretty good though I had to jailbreak it to get the increased functionality.
I wish it had support for 1TB SD Cards like the newer 8 inch model but I didn't wanna give up the screen size just for that.
