I think I'm over it now. Pretty much. :)
Wherein Lies Continue is in my opinion one of the best tracks on the album. The main riff is KILLER. I'm shocked it hasn't been picked on this channel yet! 😯😯😯😯😯
I absolutely love this song and every other Slipknot song! 🤘
Am I the only person that loves this one?? One of my favourite tracks on the record!
I can see what you mean vibe wise with the chorus, but it really doesn't hit me that way. And I think the word you're looking for is "uplifting", this song has a very grand, cinimatic, triumphant sound. Especially in the chorus. Also yes music is subjective and people can take whatever they want from this, but as someone who loves both Slipknot AND Stone Sour, this sounds nothing like Stone Sour. Slipknot has always had singing, even on selftitled. It's the subject matter and the other 8 memebers that build the layers that is Slipknot. Melodic vocals does not a Stone Sour song make.
same!!! Love this one too...
Honestly, when this came up on a poll and then on this video, I couldn't even place what song it was. Once you started it, like you, I enjoyed the verse and I started to remember the song. I wondered why I couldn't place it or didn't listen to it more. Well, then the chorus started lol. This is one of those times when I'm in 100% agreement with you Lauren. The chorus sounds like it would be from a song featured on Grey's Anatomy or something.
LOL
Love it. :) Glad it's not just me.
I like this song, as it's grown on me, but I still think This Cold Black, Butcher's Hook, and others (from this album) are more enjoyable.
My favorites from this album are Sulfur, All Hope Is Gone, Gematria, and this song
Ive been in love with this song since day one🤷♂️
Eyo I'm seeing them live today! Very excited
WOOO! Have fun! :D
Really I can see this song in movie specifically a drama movie about coming of age.
I loved this album. It was different. I love all albums but the Gray Chapter.
The other 2 songs that were in the poll are more heavy than this one. Before i forget here's a video of Corey recording this song czcams.com/video/OGN-bPqNmks/video.html
Whoops, didn't see this and posted the same video. I really prefer the sound of it.
Underated song, good choice!
Lauren to be honest I never heard of this song. I’m actually enjoying it it’s really good song.
The extra GIFs at the beginning were cute.
I've never liked the comparisons of "softer" Slipknot to Stone Sour because IMO the only thing in common is Corey's vocals and the rest is significantly different (I know Jim Root was with Stone Sour, but I think his dynamic with Josh Rand was different and his playing in general). I stand with that opinion now, but I will make exception because this chorus...yeah
See the problem most fans have with songs like this is that it fits more with the kind of stuff Stone Sour does. It’s not bad it’s just not what most people expected. I think this also tracks with the reported turmoil in the band over the direction of AHIG.
My guess on the video you were referring to at the end is the one from Sound City where he is recording “From Can to Can’t”. Epic Corey.
Do you ever lose anything?!
Yep, that's the video. :D Gold star for you!
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Ha ha. I love that Butch Vig was so clearly impressed by Corey’s voice considering how many artists he has heard. I don’t know if you’ve seen the actual documentary itself. It was fantastic - c’mon, commentary from Corey, Josh Homme, Stevie Nicks, and Dave Grohl? Yes, please!
I like the song as a 'buffer', whichever heavy track plays after it just seems to hit harder 🥁🎸🥁🎸🛢️ Also, the "field day" gag.... smh 🤦🏼 lol 🖤
You always get a thumbs up from me, regardless of whether or not I like the song. Unfortunately, I can't give this song a thumbs up. I do like Corey's voice, though. I hope you had a nice Memorial Day. : )
Had a question, I've seen all the slipknot reactions you have done. Have you ever heard of their demo from '96? it is heavier than Iowa and alot different than what one would think. it's called Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat
Would love to see a reaction to snuff, maybe when you finish the rest of the songs from this album? You have 3 more if I not wrong
I like this song but is more for a Stone Sour álbum
If you really want to hear Paul's bass on a track you really need to check out their early Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat stuff. That's probably where he shines the most and that's kind of unfortunate.
I forgot all about this thing!
@@MusicCatsandCoffee It's definitely different from the Slipknot you're familiar with. It's not an "official" release by the band, and I get the impression a lot of fans either don't like it or haven't heard it. I quite like some of it myself and it's interesting to hear how some of their songs originally sounded with a different singer and band lineup.
I don't really like MFKR but this is right, Paul is amazing on it.
@@MusicCatsandCoffee It's half what you'd expect and half completely what you wouldn't expect.
@@MusicCatsandCoffee check out do nothing/bitchslap, probably my fav bass song by slipknot. It's also very weird track lol
Stupidly early 😂 (came in 14 seconds)
"I bet some of you hate this."
Me: raises hand
You're correct that music taste is subjective and I can understand why some people like this side of Slipknot, but this is not what attracted me to the band when I got into them. Also, I'll be the first to admit that I've never liked Stone Sour, and over the years I feel like the two bands have started to blend together more than I would like. I understand they have the same singer and guitarist, but they are still two separate bands that should have a completely different sound because otherwise what is the point of being two different bands. Just my two cents.
I can see if this song was on Stone Sour lol still a great song.
That first chord is E Major
Edit: a few seconds later, I realized you said so on the video haha
Probably the most radio friendly song in their material, not bad thing but yeah its gets hate from fans. Good thing that its not part of the album cuz the hate will be much worst if it was in the album imo
The two albums that are usually at the bottom of people's list are either All Hope Is Gone and .5: The Gray Chapter.
.5 is my least favorite
@Александр 45 We Are Not Your Kind is amazing after like 10 listens. It's a grower for sure. I wasn't a fan of it after one listen.
@Александр 45 why???
This song never grew on me. I don't know, maybe it's what you said, or maybe that's just what I'm used to see in Slipknot.
I think you should give one shot to Butcher's Hook, it's an underestimated song, maybe just as much The Blister Exists.
I like the build up. But I'm not accountable. You're planning on Opeth some time again? 🤝🤘
When I first heard this back then, I always felt the chorus didn't match the versus, and a little corny. Then it grew on me something weird.
Doesn't Slipknot use drop B?
Wait c#? I am pretty sure this song is drop B, at least the guitar covers are in drop B for what ive seen so far. Cool reaction by the way, love the chord thing lol.
All their stuff is in drop B.

I've almost never gotten why people think stone sour and slipknot sound similar at all. Been listening to Slipknot's whole discography my entire life and stone sour has almost never appealed to me. Especially when you consider the fact that the only thing Corey writes for Slipknot is the vocals and Jim wrote basically the entirety of The gray chapter and that has songs like The Negative One, AOV and Sarcastrophe. I've also never like bands communities shoehorning bands into only doing one specific type of music all of the time. All of that being said though,
I've always hated this song
You hit the nail on the head. This isn't a bad song. But just like Snuff, it's NOT a Slipknot song. It's Slipknot doing a cover of a Stone Sour track. Which is a huge problem I've had with the band since Vol.3. They sound less and less like Slipknot, and more like a generic mid-2000s rock band.
This album as a whole, is garbage. Iowa was their peak. It's been all downhill from there.
This album is my 4th favourite of theirs, and it used to be my number 1 until I listened through their whole discography dozens of times. I think the reason most people don't like this album is because they didn't start their Slipknot journey with it. It doesn't need to sound like their prior albums. Just like WANYK, it is it's own sound. Do I prefer aggressive, primal Slipknot more? Of course! But I can also appreciate different albums when I'm in different moods. Slipknot have it all.
Heres corey recording this song czcams.com/video/OGN-bPqNmks/video.html sure you gonna love it Lauren:)
It may sound stupid, but after i started listening to Type O Negative back in the mid 90's it's been so difficult getting into 100 percent to any other band as i have with Type O.
Makes sense to me. :)
@@MusicCatsandCoffee
If you haven't reacted to "In Praise of Bacchus" you must., what a piece !!
had to check what this song came from again, makes sense ahig is my least favorite from them.
is this your first 'negative' review of a slipknot song?
I wasn't too kind to Disasterpiece back in the day. :) I'd like to do a re-reaction to that song though.
Not a fan of Scissors or Tattered and Torn. Those are sticking out to me.
