they only wanted the rebels to be expelled, everyone else is supporting Azami, so there's not really any other way to place them in other types of team
grouping the rebels together was just plain stupid, as the rebels were all among the best chefs in their year. every single one was selected as a candidate for the Autumn Elections.
Yup...once again the Ultimate Lesson of Food Wars. Any decent chef can take high-quality ingredients and turn it into something gourmet. Bust Soma, Soma's dad...and by extension the friends he's made through Defeat Means Friendship, know how to take the most common things and turn them into excellence.
VulpisFoxfire While for the most part I agree with you (their next test is actually what you described along with a showing off of their incredible flexibility and knowledge gained thanks to Erina) they actually used a top notch ingredient (the salmon) this time.
A decent chef can use hq ingredients and do well. A good chef can take mediocre ingredients and make great food. But you give a bunch of hq chefs like Team Soma hq ingredients.... Prepare to to have your mind destroyed by flavour.
It was a little sad to me that the series never progressed past the "Haha Soma bad cook" from every single antagonist, no matter how big or small. Him being aknowledged as a threat to anyone at some point would have been nice. Instead I watched through three seasons of "Haha bad ingredient, bad cook.....WHAAAAT?" over and over again. Still enjoyed the watch but s3 dipped a bit for me
Cause they underestimated him….. every time, which is dumb. Like yes soma does loses, and he’s often matched against opponent in there own fields. But soma adaptability and creative is often what pulls him ahead. Another factor is only handful of ppl are aware of his dad. Unaware Joichiro was training his son and giving him experience with each of their little matches. Without holding back. Asahi was just plain cocky, like he beats them once. Then just plays them as trivial nonsense. Should have been quite obvious, but as usual almost every antagonist is just plain prideful.
I mean, most of the cooks were highschoolers that only know the rich and fancy way. They're literally in a school for the 1%'s children. How many super elite kids actually have humility?
He does get acknowledged though - at the Autumn Selection finals. The dialogue between Ishiki and Eizan about how that no would acknowledge him because it would mean that they admit they're not trying hard enough. The entire school admits that he was amazing
pretty funny that asami said all chefs under him would become professional gourmets, but all that's happened is that soma and his team showed the grunts that they're absolutely useless without someone telling them what to do
Plus they had to cheat just to try and get rid of them, which just further proved how pointless the whole arc was and yet it had to happen anyway. What's more the "ultimate challenge" at the end was just the Elite Ten who were doing their own style of cooking anyway, which also goes against the whole "we should teach everyone equally using the same methods" mindset. The "villains" whose motivation is terrible right from the start because the only leverage they have is that they own the school at the beginning and that's it, it feels less like "we can beat them!" and more "okay let's get this over and done with".
"That's basic knowledge to anyone in the cutting edge gourmet industry!" Says the woman who was shocked they actually found salmon out of season of good quality and thought they couldn't possibly do so.
In fairness, earlier in the episode they specifically say they bought every available salmon in the entire town on purpose specifically to crush this team. I seem to remember they only found this one through Alice's connections in the industry.
At first I thought this video was about an anime about eating people when I read the thumbnail, now when I clicked on it, it literally gave me a lesson to not judge a book by its cover
Every single one of them know that Soma is from some no-name diner and pretty much every one of them know he worked as a line cook yet it still baffles me that they're surprised at how unfazed Soma is when it comes to time pressure Difference between experience and pedigree I suppose
One thing I always hated about this arc is that they're trying to prove their method of teaching is superior to the old way, yet in order to do that they have to cheat on every step to trip up the group. It kinda makes their point completely useless when they have to cheat just to get it through, and sure that's the point, but it would have been nice if they could have gone up against people who actually WERE taught using their method and struggled against them rather than the elite ten who were taught the old way originally.
How did these teachers get to where they are They don’t know things until its too late and they don’t seem to get who they’re dealing with Like do they not get totsuki has brought up people that could collect the lint from under your couch and turn it into the finest thanksgiving roast Also most of them are rich, so you could send them to orbit, ask for a radish dish, and they would have a rocket limousine deliver a radish on a silk pillow to them
Oh come on now, the under couch lint into a thanksgiving feast? They're not THAT skilled. It's obvious they'd need year old bread crumbs from under the oven too.
It's unknown whether she was an instructor there before the Azami administration. He replaced those who disagreed with his methods. Also recall that over 90% of their students were never going to graduate. If she were a teacher in the middle school, she wouldn't come close to understanding the full capabilities of Nakiri Senzaemon's handpicked students.
You can literally read the word “salmon” spelled correctly so many times in the subtitles of the video. How on earth did you spell it incorrectly twice?
As a person who has seen a lot of cooking anime I want to see a three way cook-off between Sanji of One Piece, Komatsu of Toriko, and Soma. Btw all my bets are on Komatsu bc I recognize him as the single greatest chef in anime and manga. No contest. The food this dude can make will probably kill someone from pure bliss and send them to heaven.

I just love how extra Food Wars is about everything. But then again, it wouldn’t Food Wars without it.
To be honest, their teachers are sort of crappy
