  • A bit of a rambling presentation of the Borg Warner T-92 transmission used in the Planet Jr B8G walk-behind tractor.
These remarkably compact transmissions provide 2 reductions + direct drive and reverse in a compact and robust package and they've been in service since the 1940s, used in everything from Crosley automobiles and utility vehicles to a wide range of lawn and garden tractors and also in The S.L. Allen Co's most advanced Planet Jr walk-behind tractor, the B8G.
This video presents the B8G with a focus on the trasmission as well as a partial teardown and analysis of the transmission. Also included are some kudos and props to Olympic Gear of Twinsburg Ohio (www.olympicgear.com) who still make and rebuild these transmissions.

Good info, do you know what other tractors had this trans?

I have a vague recollection of an older power king tractor using one but can't remember which. Try YT tractor forums maybe. And there's the Cross key automobile.

I've never seen a roller bearing to support a pulley like that - must be a pain to get new pulleys that fit

Yeah I was surprised too. the pulley wears a hardened steel loop (potentially replaceable) that acts as the inner bearing race. it's kinda like a two piece bearing that comes apart with one half fit snugly onto either part.
