    When I was a kid, we had a Planet Jr. made in 1948; it looked just about the same as yours. The hitch system is identical, same with the belt drive and the clutch lever. Handles also the tubular steel. You appear to be missing a couple of shrouds, but otherwise it's all good. I spent hundreds of hours behind ours, because we had a one-acre garden. Plowed, disked, cultivated and mowed grass with the sickle bar. I am unsure whether ours was a Model B. But it's the same machine, alright. Ours was hella hard to get started, but once running it ran all day like a top :-)

    Very cool and welcome back. I'm building a tractor from scratch right now. Those drive paws are interesting. My tractor it doesn't have a differential, so I may need to come up with something like that. I'll have to see. Thanks for all the videos. These old two wheel tractors are really what I'm basing my design on so these videos are very helpful.

      Jared Jeanotte Thanks Jared! It is a neat machine, and simple as ever too. Remember though, if you come up with something like the drive paws for your tractor, it will free wheel down hill. Unfortunately the paws don't hold the tractor back, they only drive forward when they grab the hub. Good luck with your build!

      Thanks, I was thinking of doing just one wheel with a paw but I don't think it would work anyway because if I turned in one direction the paw would click forward and that would be fine but if I turned in the other Direction it would drag one of the wheels. I think I might make one wheel freewheeling hub. Then I could have a locking mechanism to lock it in place during heavy work or when I need more traction. If I ever put a video up I'll send you a PM with the link.

    My grandfather apparently had one of these Planet Jr. rigs back in the late 40s/early 50s. The running gears of it is still in the family but a total loss..........the motor on the other hand is in great shape and still runs.

    nice score! the tiller you got is a Roto-Ette probably model T like mine they also had a model 2 which was similar, they were made in Troy NY and later became TroyBilt you can see alot of similarities in them. mine is missing the belt schroud and some parts but runs and works great

      1944johndeerel Thanks for the info! I did find a little online but not much. The model 2 and 3 seem to be the most popular compared to the T.

    Hi, great video. It's to see the old machinery being repaired and saved from the scrapyard. I like to play around with my David Bradley's, but I also have a couple of 1960's Gravely L's, but haven't had much luck in getting them to work. One runs well, but I can't get it to go into drive. What are your thoughts, and are there any good resource places that I can get more info on?

    What product do you use to store your machines for the winter? Sta-Bil? Do you run them dry? Nice work in the old Briggs.

    • @5Tractorguy
      @5Tractorguy  Před 9 lety

      billrok Thanks billrok. I use the blue -Sta-Bil Marine formula, Ethanol treatment- for all my gas. Every time I fill the cans it gets added. As for the winter I usually run as many dry as I can along with draining the tanks in some, ones I know won't get used right off the bat when spring comes.

      @5Tractorguy  Před rokem +1

      Now a days ya have to look pretty hard and be quick when it comes up! 10-15yrs ago was prime time to pick up this stuff cheap. Now this smaller old equipment is the "in" thing to collect and prices got driven way up... unfortunately.

      @5Tractorguy Sad I found a Simplicity Model F years ago at an abandon house but had to pay for a plow and cultivators recently.

      On occasion... a lot of the equipment I make videos on usually stays in the collection. I regularly buy and sell throughout the year though.
