  • Simplicity 2 Wheel Tractor Running a Brush & Log Saw.
    Here's something you don't see every day -
    This is a 1953 model V with the 20" brush & log saw configured to cut cordwood. Power is provided by a Briggs & Stratton model 14 rated at 5HP.
    If OSHA and the OPEI got together & combined their worst nightmares, this rig would be it!
    Stay safe & stop back my friends!

    Yeah 4X4, a vintage American-made saw that is still doing the job. Looks like it was moving right along without much of an effort!

      That Briggs model 14 pulls the saw well! I've also had it on another tractor with a Briggs 19D and it did even better.

      It's been a while... that was an all-day road trip. I learned that day that while I love my little Tacoma... I do not love spending 10+hrs behind the wheel of it LOL. After all this time this is only the 3rd time I've used the saw, the 1st time it was on a different tractor & I only cut a few pieces of wood. Then the day before I made this I was trying to make a video of it and blew the belt after just a couple pieces. 3rd time was the charm, I cut a bucket load, then went after more. Now I'm wishing I didn't buck up all that wood from the storm we had in May!
      Thanks for stopping by, Steve!

      Thank you, George! I know there's no other videos on CZcams of a Simplicity saw running... and not too many pictures of them show up with a Google search. I'd venture a guess this is because decades ago as chain saws became more popular small buzz saws like this were likely sent for scrap.

      I have 3 complete Simplicity 2 wheelers, and 3 more that are basket cases. Mowers, turning plows, snow blades etc. are fairly common & easy enough to find... the saws are a different story. There's a couple other attachments that are even harder to find these days. The hunt is part of the fun!

    Very cool, Dan, good to see some equipment content! That is a really cool attachment. Boy, you'd really need to know at ALL times where you are working around that blade and be careful with your footing... no guards!

    • @oldchevy4x4
      @oldchevy4x4  Před 3 lety

      Between the blade & the open belt there is little room for error! You might have noticed I had the tractor's drive belt off while using the saw... I sure didn't want it jumping into gear for any reason!

      Does your tractor have a kick-stand on it? From what I've seen the model V did Not have a kick stand, and the VA Did. Other than that it looks like the only difference is the year of manufacture.
