Seeing Dirk hit 30k nearly brought a tear to my eye. I grew up watching this guy and he's been my favorite shooter of all time since I was a young kid.

I love him too. When I was in Dallas to see him play a few times during the week, as soon as I said I am from Germany, the Mavs fans around me would start high-fiving me. He is so a loved guy. They don´t care if Duncan is better or Garnett or whoever. The Mavs fans and the Dallas fans would take take Dirk over anybody. And I think thats the best compliment.

I'm not kicking out Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Big O, the logo (West), the Dream, Kobe, the Big Fundamental, Lebron, etc. He's probably in the same range as Havlicek, Baylor, Isaiah Thomas, McHale...Still an all-time great, first ballot HOF, best European player in NBA history and probably saved the Mavs franchise from going under and moving.

Got to the arena early wearing a David Robinson jersey and dirk was shooting around and approached me and my dad and complimented my jersey and shook my hand
I soon traded in my Number 50 for number 41 and have been a mavericks fan for 16 years and will be forever. Thank you dirk for everything you did for the mavericks. MFFL

I feel so good for Dirk's success, he started in the NBA with doubts on himself, which was really shown during his first year. Despite that, he focused on developing himself and the team to get the first championship for the mavs. he just did the work, stayed humble and loyal, What a journey! I'll cry like a baby when he retires.

Lakers have been in rebuild mode since! Beat the best Thunder team in my opinion they have had! Because they still had Harden & he was a beast against us that series! with KD, RW, Ibaka etc... Granted 8th seed don’t mean shit in 2011 where the West was a stacked conference but regardless Memphis beat Spurs OKC beat Memphis so in theory Dallas would’ve beaten San Antonio and I’d say in 6 games.

& the thing is I dont think a lot of people recognize either is Dirk could easily have another 2-3K points right now if he was just a little bit selfish! Dirk has always played with in the system! If a team mate is open Dirk will always pass it up! Like games where players like Kobe, AI, Melo just to name a few start out on fire not many others would be taking shots that night! How many games has Dirk had that he was 8-12 for 20-22 points. Yet if he was the least bit selfish he would finish around 13-20 & make sure he gets his 30 points every night.

This is how the achievement should be celebrated. He came in tuned in and showed the effort and focus to get it done. Everyone in the stadium celebrated it including the opponents because it was genuine. Comparing it to LeBron passing MJ which was a stunning achievement in its own right - Its like night and day. Fans booed the Lakers effort and felt like no one cared.
