I personally thought he was acting like a d***! When I’m being tattooed I always make conversation with my artist, I think that’s all that poor bloke was trying too do. Some people feel awkward in complete silence and or maybe he just wanted to get to know the man that was tattooing him!

A lot of people get them done from shady sources, like from other people in their group, friends, etc instead of from reputable places
Some "artists" are money hungry.
It all depends on where you go but for the most part a shop that cares about its reputation wont do one

Yea it kinda struck me as odd because I was always told it was considered polite to talk with your tattoo artist and show an interest in their life and personality.
Right? I get how he's asking very deep questions, but #1 if you've been doing this long enough those questions are second nature to answer. Also if the questions were bothering you theres a very polite way of asking if the client/guest would like to discuss after, and thus explain that this tattoo is not only super important for him, but also the competition so you'd like to completely zone out and focus. Throw some shameful laughs in there while telling them what's going to happen, and boom no issue.
It's almost like he doesn't want to talk/befriend a person who got a hate symbol on their body in the first place and now wants a free cover-up. It's truly too wild to understand 😂😂😂

While there are a lot of weird American misunderstandings around what anarchism is and a lot of people attach weird baggage to it, it is primarily the rejection of illegitimate hierarchies - that includes rejection of patriarchy, genocide, racism, and classism. Literally a rejection of the foundations all the philosophies the actual hate symbols’ movements were built on.

I know one artist went to go finish a tattoo for someone as a surprise, but she went to another artist already it get it finished. So I’m guessing a lot of other people also go to other artists.

The difference between a good tattoo artist and a mediocre tattoo artist, “I don’t have time for this it’s balls to the wall” or “shut up and let me tattoo” and “To be able to help this guy change his life is a complete honor”, I know who I’d rather have tattoo me. I understand it’s a competition and the goal is to do your best and win but character and how you treat others is also very important.

I'm so glad he talked about his struggles with being an apprentice due to the😊color of his skin. So many people get so worked up "dark skin IS difficult" or "stop assuming everything about tattooing is racial"

At the dame time in a regular shop you pretty much have as much time as you want and can take as many sessions as needed. The artists get a very small amount of time and need all,of their concentration to not only work their way to the prize but also give their canvases a good tattoo. This really isnt regular shop tattooing...

People don’t realize that none of the artists actually have a time limit, they go as long as they need and just edit some highlights of the artists working and slap it into the show.

I personally think that those tattoo artists on this episode are the best of all seasons.
I respect these canvases so much as people. They’ve acknowledged that they were wrong and want to change for the better. That’s the most badass thing you can do.
I am glad that, regardless of what the jury thought, every person was happy with their cover-up.
An Anarchy symbol isn’t a hate symbol, they should of acknowledged that they didn’t have enough hate symbols and chose another cover up canvas. I feel bad for that canvas being pegged with nazi symbols while only having an anarchy symbol.
Because it is a hate symbol against a class and while not technically racist many subscribe to Marxist thought that cultural minorities need to be exterminated because they become counter-revolutionaries.

Sometimes people don’t have much of a choice in cover up designs. Their ideas can turn out ugly because it’s just not possible to completely cover and rework some tattoos without making it gigantic or super black to hide the original one. These people also signed up for a free tattoo, so it sucks that they can’t get exactly what they want, but it’s often unrealistic ideas. Anything covering this trash is an improvement
Disappointed to see how many people think that some of these tattoos are acceptable. These people are there because they hate it. Leave it.

I like the fact they had the anarchy sybol in it, because I belive in diveristy and it's offensive to see us fascist always get called "hateful" when in reailty we just love our people more then others, but loving someone more doesn't mean hating others. As a tattoo artist myself, its disgusting that you could disrespect someone who is genuinely asking you questions. I don’t give a rat’s ass if they talk too much. You let that person feel welcomed and be kind. This is a hate tattoo cover-up, dude. He’s doing better things with himself, and you should use the opportunity to show others that you care about your clients, not just winning money. I’m so sorry to the guy that had to see this on tv after the fact. I would have wanted to scrub that tattoo off with a Brillo pad..
