- In this woodturning project I turn an iroko bowl. Iroko is a hard wood found on the west coast of tropical Africa.
This woodturning channel, explores the uses of wood when combined with resin, epoxy, to make woodturning projects, that are easy and can be classed as art. A lot of the wood turning projects I make can be completed by the beginner through to the more experienced wood turner. If you have any ideas for artwork, wood inlays, epoxy projects please get in touch. Collaborations are always welcomes.

Nice recovery on the design change. It displays the beautiful grain even more.
That iroko piece was beautiful. Last one I had was just so flat.
Wowwowowow. I love the split color in the grain. I know I say stunning in my comments a lot. But wow. Stunning. It's always nice when the wood just speaks for itself. The change ended up working out lovely.
Thanks so much Delle😀
Like a diamond. It REALLY wanted to be that shape. The wood will tell you what it wants to be. So beautiful.
True, all you have to do is listen 😃
I love how when you polished up the darker grain, it would catch the light and then throw it off as the bowl turned, like a subtle iridescence. Stunning.
Thanks, it has a name, it's called chatoyancy
Good save in recovering from that piece that fell off! I love when craftspeople show how they deal with unexpected mishaps and you did a great job doing so. The bowl turned out beautifully! Well done! 👍
Wow Tom, you are way back in the archives there 😃
@@MikeHolton Yeah, I recently realized I came late to the party/your channel and am enjoying seeing your early stuff. Always wanted to do woodworking/wood turning but never had the equipment and space to pursue it so I am living vicariously through you and other wood turners on CZcams. 🙂
@@tomburns7544 Haha, we all do it, I want to be a blacksmith, engineer, sculptor, car dealer and many other things 😃
WOW! That's a real beauty!
Thanks my friend, I saw your email yesterday but not had time to look yet 😀
Excellent work again Mike 👍👍👍 Beautiful piece of wood that, and you’ve done it justice 😁
Thanks Dick, high praise coming from you.
How beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
Great video Mike. The bowl turned out great.
Thanks 🙏
Wow beautiful wood wonderful piece mike

Thanks Heather 😁
Nice save!
Thanks 👍
Absolutely glorious piece of wood and finished piece. Had to Google where Iroko came from though. I thought it sounded Japanese. Hope you’re enjoying your holiday.
Thank you very much Sylvia, we're having a great time 😁
I absolutely love that a ‘mishap’ turns out to give a piece its crowning glory.
I also hate when the playback speed slows to real time because I expect a bowl to shoot across the workshop 😂
Haha that's what I love about woodturning, anything can happen at any time 😀
Stunning!
That new edge is better!
Haha thanks 😀
Lovely work Mike, stunning piece,
Thanks Mark, appreciate it :)
BOM dia SUCESSO uma LINDA peça que sem dúvidas requer paciência pra ficar linda e perfeita
Bom dia para você também, obrigado e espero que você tenha um ótimo dia
A real beauty Mike. I can’t believe I’m still finding vids which I haven’t seen yet!! 😂😂 I love iroko, the grain goes all over the place! I did a big vase from iroko and did a YT video of it …. can I share this with you some how?
Thanks, you are not allowed to post links in comments, YT see it as spam. If it's on your channel I'll have a look 😀
Beautiful bowl, lovely wood. 👍
Thanks 🙏
What a great piece of wood Mike, and an incredible finished bowl, despite not being the originally intended design 🙃
I am so glad you didn't use the gold gilded polish as I think the colours are so beautiful as they are.
Really enjoying going through your uploads from the beginning and seeing the changes in both you and the videos. Didn't take you long to "settle in" and chat to the viewers 🙂
Keep turning
Thanks Fiona, I am very comfortable talking as I work now but still struggle talking to a camera so that may take a while lol. All the best, Mike
@@MikeHolton you're just fine 😊
@@fionacrouch1732 haha, thanks 🤣

Gosto das suas soluções para os imprevistos na execução dos projetos.
Not quite sure what you said, but thanks 🙂
Muito obrigado, agradeço seus comentários
What angle do you grind your tool to?
Thanks for the question, this gouge has a standard 40/40 grind.
