  • SpaceX is targeting a late morning launch of its tenth Commercial Resupply Services mission (CRS-10) from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The instantaneous launch window is on Saturday, February 18 at 2:39 p.m. UTC / 9:39 a.m. EST. Dragon will separate from Falcon 9’s second stage about 10 minutes after liftoff and attach to the station roughly two days later.
The CRS-10 mission will be SpaceX’s first launch from historic LC-39A at Kennedy Space Center. Following stage separation, the first stage of Falcon 9 will attempt to land at SpaceX’s Landing Zone 1 (LZ-1) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.

That was a good launch the fires of launch have returned to Launch Pad 39A 5 years after NASA abandoned the facility after STS 135 launched. SpaceX has done a good job refurbishing the facility and getting it ready. Now Launch Pad 39A has to prove itself with a launch before our astronauts cross the gantry on level 195 and enter Dragon to return to space.

    SpaceX Falcon 9 to Orbit
Birds don't fly this high. Airplanes don't go this fast. The Statue of Liberty weighs less. No species other than human can even comprehend what is going on, nor could any human just a millennium ago. The launch of a rocket bound for space is an event that inspires awe and challenges description. Shown here, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off through a cloud deck from historic launchpad 39-A, Cape Canaveral, Florida, the same site that the first three astronauts that went to the moon 48 years ago. It's delivering cargo and supplies to the International Space Station. From a standing start, the 500,000+ kilogram rocket ship lifted its Dragon Capsule up to circle the Earth, where the outside air is too thin to breathe. Rockets bound for space are now launched from somewhere on Earth about once a week.

Isn't time for a true propulsion system for space suits, that allow a human to survive up to 7 days in case the main vessel goes down if it were to explode? A propulsion system that produces energy from human waste such as urine and carbon dioxide. And creates energy from micro solar to recharge batteries, along side of a array of fuel cells that produce both electric and two fuels oxygen and hydrogen for thrust, also water as well.

Another benefit for launching from LC-39A is that the Kennedy Space Center tour buses go right past this launch pad. So you can get an up close view of the pad, the Spacex building, and other structures. For an actual launch Kennedy Space Center has reserved seating at their Banana Creek Launch Viewing area. That is the closest viewing area.

Just noticed something. What are those two objects we are seeing between 26:27 - 26:32 on the right-hand re-entry video? They don't appear to have come from the rocket itself? They're visible in more detail at 21:05 on the technical webcast video.
