These 3 bass fishing techniques are guaranteed to land you more fish EVERY TIME you head to the water, no matter if you fish from the shore, a yak, or a boat!
I grew up power fishing ponds with crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and occasionally soft-plastic worms. Several years ago, I made it my mission to learn how to fish a bass jig, but I was very frustrated! Not because I couldn't catch anything but because I'd waited so long to learn!
A jig is great for fishing docks, grass, rocks, and wood. Honestly, a jig works anywhere.
There are so many variations of jigs
    Swim jig - swimming
    Football jig - dragging
Flipping Jig - Cover like grass mats or lily pads
Casting Jig - Sitting on the bottom
Grass Jig - in and along the grass
Finesse Jig - cooler water and when bass are finicky
Using a finesse jig brings me to my next point-
I recently interviewed a number of bass fishing pros at the Bassmaster Classic, asking for their best tips on catching monster bass. Several responded by using big lures. This makes sense because big fish will need more food, and if they can spend less energy getting a bigger meal than they would chasing several smaller fish, they'll likely take the opportunity.
However, when you're just trying to catch fish and aren't concerned with breaking your PB or winning a tournament, downsizing your gear is often the best option to get a bite.
This is why a finesse jig works very well when you're struggling to get a bite.
I also love downsizing in the winter and use a crappie jig A LOT to catch bass.
The downside is you have to deal with catching a lot of little fish, which I don't mind since I'm there to catch fish and have a good time!
One of my biggest struggles in life is slowing down, and that includes fishing. I love power-fishing, which is fishing crankbaits, spinnerbaits, or similar lures like bladed jigs where you're constantly reeling.
However, as I've matured in life and fishing, I've noticed that using soft plastics at a painstakingly slow pace is often the key to catching more fish.
Slowly dragging a Texas rig along the bottom has helped me catch a ton of fish; I've been fishing a Ned Rig a bit more and caught fish that I wouldn't have without it, and I even slowed my retrieve with flukes and small plastic swimbaits.
BUT the biggest benefit has come while fishing a wacky rig. I used to cast it, let it sink for just a second, and then slowly reel it back to me while randomly popping it. Now, when I'm struggling to get a bite, I cast a weightless wacky rig, let it sink to the bottom, hop it off the bottom, and let it sink back to the bottom.
Fishing it weightless has forced me to slow down and led to more bites, especially when others said the fish weren't biting.
By implementing these three simple bass fishing techniques, you'll be reeling in bass in no time! Well, that's if you're using the right gear, including the best bass fishing jig, but don't worry, you can instantly figure that out in the next video!
