    Reviewers noted the M3 ran hotter than the M1, and this was most obvious with the Max variant. They also noted that the M3 Max in particular overwhelmed the cooling system of the 14”, and often ran slower than the ‘Pro’ variant. Even when it was faster it was very very loud. Chances are you’ll be happier with M3 Pro MacBook Pro, very similar performance, much cheaper, less noise, and better battery life. If you actually need the M3 Max, you probably also need the cooling system of the 16”.

      I have the M3 Max 14 inch 14 core CPU 30 GPU, it never throttles, but yes, the fans can get loud if it set to max power, set to low power mode it’s likely faster than the Pro and near silent - so you get both options.

      event he 16inch which I have used every day since October last year, it CAN in some circumstances run hot and maxed out fans, if rendering out in handbrake etc, and uses all CPUs , if you use video tools box though it tends to use GPUS and doesn't get got, also Final Cut renders are not causing and heat stress. I use mine mostly one desk with two 4K monitors and it is fine. I always use the HDMI port as I am motels etc editing thus use hotel TV's as a second monitor or 3rd, and use an iPad as a second screen, and yes battery life is a awesome on 16inch. 14 inch screen is too small and I don't use it on trains or planes so I don't care about bigger footprint. I need MAX COOLING AND MAX BATTERY LIFE, and thats the 16inch.

      @@TheKimNeeper good point, low power mode is great, but if you keep that on all the time perhaps you could’ve saved some cash and got a smaller chip? Nice to have options I guess. Hoping the thermals on M4 will be better, we’ll see…

    Once you have an M series no need to upgrade, I went from and intel i9 to an M3 MAX and its night and day performance, but I have used M1MAX AND M3MAX cant see a bloody difference as a video producer.

    What a great review of this machine ! Thumb up as always. I'm still rocking with my MBP M1 Max 64gb 1TB, maybe should've taken 2TB and still thinking often that should've taken the 16 inch... For sure the next MBP I will take will be 16 inch.

    Love my 16 inch M3 Max:ed out. I do throw heavy work load on it everyday and it’s not often the fans turns on. It might get a bit warm when having it in the lap.
    Now I am thinking about a 14 inch Macbook Pro cause I am traveling and don’t wanna bring the 16, it’s to big. It’s perfect having at home though.

    For most of my work and home life, I have used Window laptops and usually a 17 inch. So the 16 inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro feels so light to me. I use it for the majority of my work. For Windows I have my custom built desktop for gaming. I love your videos.

  • @flashscanhd
    @flashscanhd Před 8 dny

    I can agree to you, I made tests with 4 different macbook pro m3 versions, and thanks to Amazon I could send them back.....
    I had a 16 inch m1 before and sold it and since then I tried all version of the M3, but I am not happy.
    We have 2 Color Pro monitors from viewsonic and still a Mac Pro 7.1 fully loaded which runs also under windows better than our Dell machines in the studio.
    I have to say we are in the filmscanning and postproduction of old 8mm, 9.5mm and 16mm movies and here we need both worlds.
    But the 14" Macbook max M3 drived me crazy: the fans are running on small tasks and the MacPro stayed cool and did his work.
    The macbook air is nice for the road to use it for mails, word, excel, and netflix, but not more,
    so the M2 air was only one day in the studio and had to leave very quick, At the moment I will buy nothing new, and wait for the end of the year and the M4 in the macbook pro
    But one thing is stupid, the Minimum Ram should be 36 GB to choose and this is a price overkill from Apple

    I was wondering about the Vision Pro! I was thinking you might have returned it. Has that been your worst business purchase of 2024 or are there more videos coming out with it?

  • @thomas0086
    @thomas0086 Před 3 dny

    I’m actually caught in a bit of a bind,
    I have 2, 27 4K.
    It’ll cost me more to buy 2 32 inch or 2 ultra wide and arms + an m3 pro, than it would to buy a 3rd or 4th 4K 27 + m3 max from the Apple refurbished store.
    I hate that the M3 pro is limited to only two external displays, it should be at least three.
    I work from home, daytrade, run a business, manage projects for family and multitask a lot.
    I find that overlapping windows and constantly having to switch between stages and or command tabbing In perpetuity really grinds my workflow to a snail pace.

    A year ago, I was considering a MacBook Air with the 512/16 gb configuration, but it was only $100 more to get the 14 inch M2 Pro with 512/16 gb configuration and have the additional ports. I am very happy with this laptop. The M3 Pro looks great but it isn't worth it for me to upgrade from the M2 to the M3.

    Hi Mark, thanks for the review- I am about to finally buy my first Macbook Pro and I mainly need one for using with my Sony A7iv camera- editing photos on Lightroom and working on my wordpress blog. The internet is SO confusing with what one to buy and like you said the laptops are SO expensive now! just wondering if you would still recommend the M3 max chip for those types of tasks. I don't do videos or CZcams. I just need something that can work long enough for photo editing and blog writing. Any help would be appreciated x

    I wish you had done a video on your experience with the MacBook 16 inch while on an airplane! I’m thinking about bringing mine while taking a 10 hr plane trip to the Europe in the up and coming months… I think it would possibly be better than the iPad mini which has a short battery life and less screen real estate (girlfriend will be watching off my device)?

    I debated 14 or 16 inch and for me 16 was right choice, longer battery life, bigger screen for editing FCP and love watch videos and photos again on the bigger screen, however if I was using it to travel about a lot, bags, back pack ect the 14 inch would have been my choice, I purchased brand new Mac Pro M2 and a much reduced price as M3 was looming and have not regretted it, Apple products are very expensive but in the same way you can also shop around and buy slightly older M1 or M2 which is still super capable machines. Ps . My 2014 Mac book pro still works just fine and is a testament to apples longevity and yes I still use 🥳🥳🥳
