Dissily Mordentroge: Yes comparing Indian classical dance and music, Bollywood music and dance are just crap. Indian people should be proud of your long history and the amazing classical music and dance, and keep the purity and don’t let them be affected by western culture or any modern elements. I’m self learning Odissi dance and just love it.

It's a mangalacharan (the first piece in an odissi performance), which is a flower offering to Jagannath, the first and last part is about that. The middle part is about Shiva, most of the symbols are linked to him, for example how the river Ganges is flowing from his hair, etc. Hope this helps a little :)

Actually Bollywood is what made the world aware of the Indian classical dances, that's how I got into Kathak for example.
