    For the longest time, I’ve wanted to take a real IQ Test. To be honest, I used to be really insecure about my intelligence and how smart I am when I was younger, so that’s probably why I cared so much.
    I did quite a bit of research on IQ Tests while making this video, and I found out there’s actually multiple different well-accepted IQ tests, but the most prominent and widely accepted is the Weschler Adult Intelligence Test.
    I also watched IQ test videos from CZcamsrs like Logan Paul, XQC, PewDiePie, Jubilee, Adin Ross, and RiceGum. Additionally, I watched those "Test your IQ" videos on CZcams, which were INTERESTING to say the least (they were nothing like actual IQ tests).
    Would I recommend you take an IQ test? No. Absolutely not. LOL I get it's kind of hypocritical for me to say that right after taking one, but I think getting your actual IQ score given back to you can be really detrimental to your self esteem and mindset. I think focusing on something as trivial as an IQ score can distract from the WAY more important traits to success and happiness like wisdom, hard work, and optimism. Focusing on IQ score will do nothing but give your mind a reason to justify or expect an outcome based on a genetic factor that is completely out of your control. I think the ONLY thing we should focus on in life is how much effort we put in, and how much knowledge we've accumulated.
    Once again thanks for watching (LIKE SUBSCRIBE AND HIT THAT BELL BUTTON ESKETIT), and have a great day!

    I have never heard of people talking about IQ testing outside of the internet and even then I've just never factored in a high IQ into to my decision making for whether or not someone is intelligent. I've gone throughout my life identifying intelligence in different ways because I've always thought that intelligence is more complicated than a summed score. I still denounce IQ and the typical argument people come up with is how it is one of the most successful concepts created in psychology in the past 100 years. If it was truly so successful than the military and schools would still be using it on a regular basis to identify giftedness and etc. It's still highly controversial for an exact reason as well. You literally need to go out of your way nowadays to get it tested since it's not used to the level at which it used to be. I just don't get how people can't recognize intelligence based off literally anything else besides an IQ test, Richard Feynman is a perfect example of people questioning IQ's validity since Richard Feynman was a much more brilliant man than what his IQ test he took said. All in all IQ really is insignificant and is only relevant within the realms of the internet, there are many different ways to identify intelligence.

      Well most standardized IQ tests mostly base on Pattern recognition and problem solving, sure there is social and emotional intelligence but pattern recognition is considered to have the highest correlation to general intelligence. Because the ability to find patterns in a Chaotic reality that we live in is a big indicator of intelligence

      It's not necessarily a whole representation of a persons intelligence, but it still kinda is, because pattern recognition is essentially the core of how a neural network works, that's why IQ tests still shouldn't be considered an inaccurate representation of a person's general intelligence

      @@angeloa.lapizar8139You’re saying all of this as if it’s definite, but IQ is pretty disputed, specifically in the scientific community. Even the "general intelligence" you‘re referring too and what defines general intelligence or how to measure it hasn’t really been determined. The purpose of the IQ test was never to indicate someone’s intelligence as a whole, but to be able to to spot outliers (very high/low IQ people) since they tend to be more susceptible to mental illness/ the IQ score can be an indication of mental disability or illness.
      Of course, I agree that IQ measures some dimensions of intelligence, but it doesn’t equate to/fully measure intelligence, imo.

    I'm highly suspicious about iq tests. I think about it as a chess game, if you are a beginner you barely know the rules and every move takes an incredible amount of calculation and pattern recognition, you are highly disorganized and even the number of variables are obscure BUT if you play every day for 5 years your result will change drastically. Are you more intelligent because you can play better ? No, you have knowledge and are trained to recognize formulas and patterns. I think that some people have an incredible background advantage over others but are they really more intelligent? I would like to see the iq results of people that have never seen a test before and the results of the same people one year after intensive training. I imagine an oscillation of at least 20 or 30 points. I'm not saying that some people aren't gifted, clearly they are but the same person studying diligently the test would have a really different result with the same exact intelligence.

    • @judetiangan7716
      @judetiangan7716 Před rokem +3

      At chess you can train cause you can't reinvent the wheel and keep in mind that how many moves ahead a player can think varies so that's already a measure of intelligence scope right there.

      @wolffyman6892 Před rokem

      No iq test is not like a chess game because you can’t cheat your brain lol and it looks for the speed of your information processing aspects rather than anything but you are right in someway the more tests you take the higher you get but iq test is fair if your iq sucks you most likely have a slower brain than others who got higher results than you.

    • @gabrielegagliardi3956
      @gabrielegagliardi3956 Před rokem +2

      @@wolffyman6892 It is both. A) Something you can't change even with training: for example the ability to keep in mind a certain number of variables. If your machine (the brain) can keep only 5 numbers in mind you will fail some questions due to the lack of power calculation. B) If you have a certain background, let's say in engineering, you have a clear advantage because you already solved and understood indirectly some problems in the test. What the test tries to do is to determine "pure intelligence" which is obviously really hard because we don't grow up in a vacuum and our previous knowledge partially influences the test.

    • @zadeh79
      @zadeh79 Před rokem +4

      Yes, by some accounts, you would be more 'intelligent' if you rationalized for 5 years and develop something called 'intuition' , which allows you to see surface patterns and correlations that others don't notice. There seems to be some presumption that 'intelligence' is innate, and undeveloped, and philosophically unrelated to the "aposteri" - that is at the very root of bias in IQ testing. The reality is that the brain has a developmental function, which results in differential rates of development. We peak with our unique strengths at different points in our life - some people, and especially most IQ proponents, have rather subtle intellectual peaks.

    • @zadeh79
      @zadeh79 Před rokem +1

      @@gabrielegagliardi3956 Domain limited enhancements are well documented. The notion of "pure intelligence" is pure bu11$hit, to a developmentalist. From an aposteri (after you've learned facts) point of view - two people who know the rules of the english language, are not going to be equally poetic AND it's pretty clear that being a great poet is more than just having a high IQ (and pure reasoning) because obviously not all people with a 120+ IQ are great poets - so there is missing piece between learning raw information, and pure reasoning, and that piece should be integrated into a proper theory of intellect.

    I also considered the fact that it was a scam: just approve many people and take their money. However, they are registered as a nonprofit. Also, intelligence testing done by organizations is regulated by the government (at least here in California). In the acceptance email you got there should be a name of the supervisory psychologist for your region-- they shoulder some blame if the process is not standardized, and as fair as possible for all takers (which is why they had you come in for the test that feasibly could be done online: to ensure standard conditions aka prevent cheating). For these reasons I don't think it's super scammy.
    But yes if somebody joins just to tell others that they are smart, then poo poo to them. There is no "real" utility in being a member, but it does let you connect with other smart humans which is the value provided. I'd recommend you go meet some people. The regional gatherings (I've been told; haven't attended) are where it's at.

    Long story short, their online test dives into questions where there actually are no patterns towards the end. They're just random shapes. No, there's literally zero patterns that connect the shapes together.
    Hikaru Nakamura, one of the top world puzzle solvers in chess, took this test and got a 102. So did Levy. I got a 112. It's not a real test. The problem solving skills required to solve extreme chess challenges are *exactly* the same as what you use to solve these questions, so it's impossible that he would be placing average, on par with the sleeper/cruiser that sat behind him in Biology class in the 10 grade who got C's all day. Furthermore, it's impossible that I would be placing higher than Hikaru Nakamura at (any) puzzle solving challenge using this skillset.
    100% they are a scam, *yes* somebody should hurry up and get the balls to sue them and throw down a massive class action lawsuit against this stupid scam organization.

    Mensa doesn't make a profit. There are cost of running a organization. The price for a life time membership is insane to me. Dutch cost for a year are like €40.
    Almost no one in Mensa that I know tell people outside of Mensa that they are a member. The reason is video's like this. If you join to brag then you are smart but stupid.
