A drag? On the contrary. I found it straight and to the point! Just saying. Thank you for the video. Very COoL.

Is the knife being rotated by the spindle? Or is it just rotating freely because of how it’s being drawn through the cork?

It rotates freely. It turns because the part touching the cork is offset from the rotation axis. Just like a caster wheel.

@@andrewbrown6525ok, that makes sense. Does this mean you need to offset your program to adjust for the offset of the blade?

You can run profile passes with a drag knife for some stuff. If you profile a rectangle, you'll get radiused corners about as much as the tool's offset. If you google "drag knife add arcs to g code" you'll find some options for more advanced programming. I use Vcarve pro which has a drag knife add on.

how do you add the pen in your tool list ?

I use Autodesk Inventor (similar to F360) and I have it set as a small ball end mill, but with very low RPM (5). Ideally this tool should be run at zero RPM, but can be run very low if that is not possible. It will depend by CAM software and machine, but sometimes it makes sense to have a separate post processor and omit the M3 (spindle on). Also, code can be hand edited to remove M3, etc. Thanks for your interest

I have Inventor with the HSM extension and also Vcarve Pro. Vcarve has a drag knife gadget which is ok (my version is not current though). There are probably better options out there.
