    i know this is kinda not related but i was wondering y cant i connect budibase (both self-host n cloud-host) to the database in my localhost despite the fact directus can connect to it just fine ( yes i triple check all the input information )

    • @elestio
      @elestio  Před rokem

      Hi, for cloud-hosting it is normal because it can't connect to your localhost. The self-host version might not connect if budibase is dockerized and doesn't have access to your computer resources.

      @@elestio sorry for the late response, i found out a day later that with self-hosted (dockerized) version you need to use ur IP address to connect to ur local-host

    it's not very open source because you have still to pay. It's too bad. and why each guy youtuber still show an example app based on data base. what about if I don't need use a database with my app. does it mean that all nocod app builder app are good only for using a database. !!!

      you don't jeed to be tech savvy but being a complete noob is too much. First of open source itself doesn't mean free, it usually is but it's defined by the license. Second off you can install it on any server you want, for free, just don't tell me it's not free becouse you still have to pay for electricity and your computer. They just offer the price for hosting this software that in any practical scenario you would have to pay for it somewhere anywhere, that has nothing to do with the software itself being open source and even being free. If I give you a free car and offer you a garage for rent, you can pay for the garage or take the car somewhere else, the car is still free.

    16:00 "resets in 22 days"???

    • @elestio
      @elestio  Před 2 měsíci

      This is a label used by the cloud version of Budibase. As you can say, on the self-hosted versions used in this video it's 0/unlimited (so the reset date has no importance)

    Hi, Can I deploy exported app directly in my hosting server?

    • @Josephbenguira
      @Josephbenguira Před rokem +2

      Yes you can!
      It's possible to do a manual backup to get the whole stack with app + data then deploy and run it anywhere

    But if I host it myself, I still have to pay for each user that uses my apps?

    • @elestio
      @elestio  Před 11 měsíci

      The additional paid users are for "Creators", but your app users are unlimited. And users of your budibase instance too, they just won't be able to have the "Creator" role, but admin and basic are fine.
      More info available here docs.budibase.com/docs/application-access#creators- and on BuddyBase pricing if you check the self hosted button budibase.com/pricing/ (the community offer)

    I see video after video talking about making an "app" but so far I just see websites accessed inside a browser.
    So far I just see a website application such as would be made with php and mysql.
    Tell us more about APPS that do more than save and display the typical "data" records that date back to early Excel customer and worker and product order files.
    What else can be built by Budibase and on what platforms can those apps run?

    • @elestio
      @elestio  Před rokem +3

      Hi, yes when we use the term "app" it's about building features usable from any device, not specifically "mobile app".
      So with Budibase you can create web apps accessible from any device that has a browser (computer, mobile & even cars 🤭)
      Most of the apps are typical "data" records, with no-code apps builder the limit you could face, are about complex UI and specific needs. For example, building an Uber Eats-like app would be doable, but features like real-time delivery tracking would be complicated...

    • @Josephbenguira
      @Josephbenguira Před rokem +2

      You seems to be confused by the meaning of open source. Budibase is open source, you can download the source code, modify it, run it on your own computer all for free!

    • @aimattant
      @aimattant Před rokem +1

      @@Josephbenguira You mentioned it is a free No-Code App Builder. It is not. Many restrictions. There is open-source code that can be used of course but a free open-source code app builder which it is not.

    • @elestio
      @elestio  Před rokem +1

      This is common in the open source world to have a free, full of useful features version, and have pro/paid versions or also paid cloud to remove the hosting/setup complexity. As a fact, the basic version is a free open source no-code app builder.

    • @jerbear7952
