My biggest issue was game 2 this year. We needed a halfback, Adam Reynolds is in firing form, Suncorp is his home ground, he knows the game of players like Walsh, Carrigan and he is a big game player (he’s won a premiership). It seemed like 95% of people knew that he was the most logical choice and he went with Moses. I am actually a big fan of Moses as well and believe that he is an origin player, but considering it was a do or die clash, It really seemed like a no brainer.

NSW’s team selections were odd. Picking players then dropping them tells the players one thing, that they burn their players, the players don’t know when their next game will be after the one they play and off the back of that they can’t possibly play for their jersey as much as Qld do. Qld have owned origin since 2006. That’s 17yrs.

The greatest ambassador for NSW of all time needed at least $450k to coach three games a year. 😂
As a Queenslander I'm sad to see him go. One of NSW major issues the last few years was their ego and it clearly trickled down from the top. Freddy and Joey are the most up themselves, arrogant and pompous blokes in footy. That's great for players of their skill level but not for a coach.

Blues defs should have won 20 and 22, I'm a QLD supporter and we were no hope, yet somehow we won. Fitler is a poor coach. They can say "yeah but he won 3 SOO"......yeah.....out of 6.......when only 1 of those years (2023) QLD had a good side. After the big 4 retired, it took a while to fill the gaps and gel. Sure we had good players, but you take out 4 of the best players to ever play the game all from the same team, of course it's going to throw things out of whack. Blues should have won at least 4 out of the last 6, if not 5, yet only won 3......that's disgraceful. Right decision all round .. it seems Freddy was too focused on how much $$ he'd be getting rather than winning a series. The thing is, if they're paying for Gus and Ivan (let's face it to cover all the gaps in his coaching abilities) - did he really think that it wouldn't come out of his earnings from the series? People aren't that native. And he wanted 2 years off the back of what, losing 3/4 series. Hmm. Many couldn't believe he was offered another go at it in the first place. Greedy and a bit too selfish to assume he dictates terms. BTW the job deserves someone that isn't gonna give nothing responses to whether he even wants the job next year. Plenty of capable candidates doing their coaching ranks, Brett Kimmorley is the first to come to mind since he's keen on coaching, Ennis, would've liked Fitzgibbon but he's now club coach. Farrah in an assistant role. Trent Barrett, Buderus, the Eighth

Like he said himself in different words - lose a couple series people call for you head.
He stood strong in himself, beliefs, solid reasons - if they're not going to show/put full confidence in him when they offer him the job then yeah i totally get why he stepped away.
Also look at all the other high profile assistants / coaching staff that left with him? They showed more confidence/respect in him than NSW.
You can't blame him for QLD playing amazing and NSW players not making the most of opportunities. (i don't blame the players either , it happens in every sport just deal with it and look forward)
My opinion - You can't succeed without failing and failing isn't necessarily bad.
If you can learn important lessons, can reflect, grow and show you've learned from failure - i would almost call it success in a way ;)
    Also GO NSW WOOP WOOP!
