  • A motion compensated Ampelmann gangway system, world’s first heave compensated Barge Master T40 crane, DP2 system, Voith Schneider Propellers and bow thrusters, chemical supply and Cold start-up unit, 500m2 free deck space, a fast rescue craft, daughter craft and accommodation facilities for 60 people on board.
    One by one essential features which are pretty common for an offshore vessel. But by combining these specs in one single design- like a kind of Swiss knife - you will get a unique vessel the world has not seen before. Enabling offshore activities to be executed more safe and efficient.
    NAM and Shell UK combined their forces with Royal Wagenborg and shipyard Royal Niestern Sander, which resulted in the world’s first maintenance support walk to work vessel.
    This is the epic story about the ‘KROONBORG’, the result of the innovative Walk-to-Work project. A Dutch project that will change the entire offshore industry.

    When I was in my 20s I worked for Xerox Corp on mechanical equipment, and I enjoyed the work very much. to see such a complex organized mechanical phenomenon being brought together, now that I'm in my 70s, is still kind of thrilling. Good work! :)

    Hats off to the men and women that put all this together. Having to work on the fly to design and re-engineer as they go, a challenging task indeed. Natasha was absolutely stunning, what with her brains and beauty then at the end of the program she rocked that Zepplin sweatshirt... be still my heart ❤!
    The vessel was an exceptional feat of engineering as well.

    This "documentary" is an obvious advertisement for a ship yard who only have build smaller ships before.
    They don't even have a building dock / dry dock.
    Every modern and seriouse shipbuilding yard has that. Therefor they just have to launch the ship sideways into the water - in a big splash.
    I guess they got the contract by taking a risk and offering the lowest building cost.
    There are many other yards/companies - and with much more resources - who could build such a ship. But that would cost more.....

    • @felixcat9318
      @felixcat9318 Před 3 lety +2

      The shipbuilders took on an outstanding challenge, to incorporate so many differing aspects into one compact vessel, and to complete in such a short timeframe.
      They fulfilled their obligations superbly, and have every reason to feel proud of their achievement!
      These were the only people capable of meeting all of the challenges, hence they built it.
