50 Ritchie Blackmore Riffs Played Back-to-Back
Vložit
- čas přidán 11. 12. 2016
- Ritchie Blackmore is one of my favorite guitarists and probably the reason I got interested in guitar in the first place. As my tribute, here's the list of 50 of my favorite riffs from Deep Purple and Rainbow eras, played back-to-back in chronological order. Used my humbucker equipped guitar mainly because it holds the tuning better than a Strat and I really needed that for a 10 minute long video. Pickups are DiMarzio FRED and PAF Pro and guitar is plugged straight into an audio interface. Using PositiveGrid BIAS Amp as an amp sim, a treble booster at the front...some reverb on certain riffs or delay on others.

The fact that I can listen to this video and still think of great examples you didn't choose just demonstrates how astonishingly proflific Blackmore is with guitar riffs.
yup. i missed black masquerade, the battle rages on, a twist in the tale, and everything from slaves and masters, as well as hard lovin' man... oh.
The first two which sprang to my mind were Why Didn't Rosemary and Village On The Sand. But there are tons more.
He's the hardcore Page
@@BrandonScottFox1 Page couldn't carry BLACKMORE ' S guitar case.
haha well dayum :p
Great composer,the man in black
The early Rainbow with Dio and the classic purple line up ...class
blackmore is the best guitarist ever
Definetley he is a GIANT and one of the 5 ABSOLUTE Top Players in Hard Rock !
Deep Purple was ONLY with Blackmore Great ..He is THE ROCK DIVA !
Not true...no such thing...
@Captain Bruh The first wheel is never the best. The first person to paint well wasn’t the best painter ever, either. Try another argument.
@Captain Bruh there's no such thing as being objective with music, everything is subjective.
@Captain Bruh Shut up, all Jimi did was play blues & rock, other than that playing with teeth or on the back or between his leg, he was never the first to do any of this lol
I really can't image a world without In Rock... best studio album ever
buriedverydeep .....and ever .... and ever !

Led Zep 2 ,Black Sabbath (debut) Deep Purple In Rock the foundation of all what was to become Metal .
A school book for all young guitarists!
The Master of the masters. Pure guitar genius. Amazing amount of riffs and solos of genius. Best known for his riffs but he did incredible solos too. Also a fantastic showman... he had everything.
The sheer vol. of his guitar riffs is astounding, even his last Rainbow, stranger in us all, has amazing riffs. Page was great but when LZ broke up it was over, Iommi another master but still prefer RB's work. Just my personal taste of course
This was incredible. Ritchie would be proud.
thanks, very kind of you! :)
He is a guitar god. Thanks for the demo...
That is awesome stuff. For part 2 you can squeeze in Hard Loving Man, Flight of the Rat, The Mule, Sail Away, High Ball Shooter, Lady of the Lake, No Time To Lose, Can’t Happen Here, Freedom Fighter, Mid Town Tunnel Vision, Black and White, Fire in the Basement, Cut Runs Deep and Ramshackle Man
Sixteenth Century Greensleeves is pure gold
For those who are interested, Blacky released a new song with the reincarnated Rainbow with Ronnie Romero as the singer, it's called Waiting for a Sign and I find it quite good, especially the riff...
the new Rainbow are total crap and as for the singer - he is useless.
Fanstastic job! Ritchie and Purple are the best. Their music is so different than other artists. You play it very well. We marvel at what Blackmore was able to come up with. Who else can match him riff for riff? Nobody
Thanks! :)
@Bj D Spot on fella, my thoughts exactly on those three bands
Tony Iommi
Stil I’m sad isn’t a Ritchie creation.
@@jamieokane989 true, but he’s the one that breathed life into it. The Yardbirds’ version sounds like a death march.
this video is an awesome tribute, see how Blackmore is important on the history of rockn`roll.
Wow, that was kind of a dream come true to see those riffs played in one sitting.
Great job!
thank you for the kind comment. Cheers!
Blackmore as a guitarist is hard to beat
A very thorough accomplished performance, I enjoyed it very much. It also reflects the utter musicianship of Ritchie Blackmore and his ability to adabt different melodic strains.....
Blackmore is an icon. Riffs for days. My first 8 track was “Made in Japan”. I was six. I’ve been a fan ever since. Often Blackmore is disrespected by the rock “intelligencia”. He’s numero uno in my book. Long Live Rock n Roll. Long Live Ritchie Blackmore.
Amen brother!!
Superb, thanks for sharing that..... the amount of amazing riffs Ritchie as come up with over the years is astounding, the man has been so creative, and this is why he will always be my favourite guitarist.
thanks! He's amazing even before we get into solos, which are equally as good as the riffs :)
As a life long fan of Blackmore, you executed each of the rifs to perfection. Well done and thanks for sharing this.
thank you for the comment, Roby, much appreciated.
***** Most welcome Bro. Keep it up. Been playing Guitar for over 25 years, I know the skill level involved here.
@@Diy-fever As a HUGE BLACKMORE fan, I gotta say you fucking nailed it !!! Great job. .. Highway ☆.
@@bobfreeburg4706 thank you, Bob!
Soldier of Fortune, Temple of the king, Catch the rainbow, Stone Cold, I surrender, Space Truckin', Spotlight kid, etc, etc, there's so many gems from Ritchie. He's the master.
surrender is from russ ballard , like since you been gone
Been listening to the stargazer solo on repeat
There are so many awesome blackmore riffs that even a list of 50 isn't enough to fit all of them. There are always gonna be good riffs that are not making the cut
Lolol, you did the shaking and resetting the fingers thing, too.
Great video, man.
Haha, thanks! I guess that's a product of two decades of watching Blackmore :)
Burn is my favorite riff
RITCHIE BLACKMORE GENIO CREATIVO,.
50 RIFF Y TODOS GENIALES.
CUANTOS GUITARRISTAS TENDRÁN ESA CAPACIDAD CREATIVA ?
Excellent dude. The best I’ve heard.
Just listened all the way through. You have talent yourself to be able to step into Richie's shoes and play his riffs like the original sounded. Nice tone on your playing also. Well done. Blackmore sure is a masterful musician. I am proud to be able to say I saw them 3 times in Cardiff when those early riffs were hot off the press. Together with Led Zep and Sabbath. Then ELP and early Genesis. What a time to live.!!!
BLACKMORE ..a NAME Like a Hard Rock Riff written in Stone for the Eternity
Great job! Highlighted the coolest riffs of Ritchie. I would have picked the same riffs.
Олег Горбунов thanks, man!
Just brilliant , enjoyed your video immensely, many thanks.
Pictures of home is so fucking good
Awesome song, that solo has been on my to-do list for 15 years :)
Best song of Machine Head
Ritchie the best!!!
Fantastic
As one of Ritchies biggest fans I salute you
Fast & Furious thank you my friend
Brilliant
Knocking on your back door- best riff ever
Cover of Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow reboot…looks like Worzel Gummage
Yes! You started with my favourite!!!
awesome! but actually in space truckin that's jon lord organ on riff
You’re a true richie blackmore lover
Very cool man...Blackmore is the inspiration behind my playing as well...
Art
Pleasure to listen to and appreciate the dedication and hard work to learn all those licks and put this together.
I appreciate the comment and your time to watch. Cheers
Black Night wasn't released on In Rock, but as a single in June 1970 if I remember correctly. However, it was included in the 25th anniversary release of the aforementioned album.
correct
Reading my post 5 months after the fact, I realize that I forgot to mention that you did a great job on those riffs!!! I’ve been a DP fan since I was 12, and In Rock is still my favorite of their albums! It was the second LP that I ever got, in 74!
Keep on rockin’!!
Same sessions.
Well done mate superb riffage.. Love that Mandrake Root got in there... My schoolbag in 77 had Blackmore is God written on it.. Still used it for College In 79..got a few strange looks.. Did nt care!!!
Impressiv both memory and exekution!
Ritchie gets overlooked when people review the best riffs of the 70s, other than the habitual nod to Smoke on the Water. This is helping address the balance. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment. I agree, Blackmore is one of the most creative rock riff writers out there.
i like the chronological part...........good idea.........and nice job too !....thx, wb
fantastico.....grazie
Easily the greatest riff writer of all time.
Awesome 👌
Absolutely brilliant! A superb piece of work by you and a fantastic insight into the work of Ritchie Blackmore.
thank you so much! :)
Awesome!
We needed this
Great job, so cool how when u play all these classic riffs side by side. u see Rich differently, he seems even better. SUBBED
I dont rate guitarist, but Blackmore is Certainly among One of The greatest.
Man you nailed all those riffs, great stuff, especially without editing.
Blackmore is today so underaded.in the 70ies and 80ies the game was for blackmore, but something happend in the 90ies. It must be said: Clapton, Beck, Page aaaand Blackmore (and Iommi + Gilmour ). For Metal guitar players Blackmores influence was higher than anybody else. Good Job by the way
Man of the black
Excellent
Excellent! Loved it!
Genioooo, de Ritchie que se puede decir, una maquina de creaciones divinaaaaas
Absolutely fantastic.
Amazing!
Fantastic job! must have been hard setting up backing tracks and learning the order of what to play. One song I would have added and surprised wasn't here is 'Light in the black' from the Rising album. Nonetheless you're awesome!
thank you!
Fantastic effort... Kudos to you
Thank you!
Great Video
My favorite too....great job.
King Of Riffs
I am stunned that you left out Light in the Black!!!
which one would you replace?
@@Diy-fever Long Live Rock n Roll.
@@Diy-fever You could also have included Hall of the Mountain King.
@@steviemacmuttley people would rip me apart for skipping LLRR 😀 but it's cool to hear different views
Excellent thanks
Brilliant
You memory Is incredible playing riffs through non stop
Richies the man..enough said
i love gillan singing,an screaming as they do, ...into the fire,....live...
thank you. fantastic sound
thanks for the comment!
Bravo!
Great performance!! Congratulations!!
thank you very much!
You are a star... A highway star.
Great job covering such an underrated guitar player.
Lightning Brigade thanks!
underrated??????
he's not heard by many young folk now. But he's not under-rated by those who become familiar with his stuff. I'm 65 and just met a 27 year old on a tour who told me of Ritchie, a guitarist in "Blackmore's Night" who she really liked. I filled her in on his history, starting with DP then Rainbow. She really loves him now
MrStevecro because young people don’t give a shit about hard rock/metal and guitar any more. I’m a 32 yr old guitarplayer myself, and Blackmore is regarded as one of the best. Not underrated at all
I still think in terms of back in the day he was a bit underrated. He never gets mention with names like Page, Beck, Clapton etc even though he was right there with them.
NICE.....
Fabulous job - now I have to put them on :)
always a good time for Blackmore tunes :)
Bravo! Well done.
Nice job, man!
thanks!
Cool vid man!
Those pickups sound amazing for blackmore riffing.
I have a fred in the neck in paralell and it sounds great as well
Awesome job 👏 👍
It would really be super - if you want - to do a Volume 2 Ritchie Blackmore Riffs!!!!!
Thanks in advance very much, and I absolutely love your channel!!!!!!
Appreciate the comment. I'm looking forward to returning to guitar. Recently got a baby and have to time to play :)
@@Diy-fever I totally understand. All the best to you and your family.
You sir, are a great guitar player~!
Good job!
Wow!
Well played sir. And spot on by only have one song from the rather turgid Turner years.
7:56!!!! The best !!!!!! Amazing, thanks
Thanks!
Ritchie is the best No1
great
Собраны все вкусняшки ☺️👍👍👍
To zaista dobro zvuči, pozdrav kolegi sa muzičkog foruma!
Hvala puno, Damire! Sve najbolje
Great tone
Thanks!
Gotta love how he basically played every riff from machine head 😂💯
That's one of my top 3 albums of all time, every song is epic and deserves a spot IMO 😉
@@Diy-fever i think in rock does as well
Anybody else notice how many of these great riffs are just playing around frets 0-3-5?
He is a G minor player. Quite a few are variations of the same thing.. But he hid it well 😉
He has admitted as much himself.
My favourite guitarist of all time.
Great guitar you have there and i´m amazed you played all the songs with the same equipment. To me Ariel was a good final. Love it!...Forgot to mention I´m very impressed of your skills. Wouw
Thank you for the comment, Kenn! I gave my best to dial in the tone that is somewhere in between the eras that can cover it all. The best of all, it's all done with a cheap VST plugin, no real amplifiers and pedals :)
@@Diy-fever Do you play in a band? Sorry if i´m asking stupidly. I´m 59
@@KennCramerHanberg it's not stupid :) No time for bands, as it's only my hobby...bedroom noodling 30min a day, often less :(
@@Diy-fever Ok, but i´m sure you would do pretty good in a band with other good musicians
Very good job ! Not easy to fill all those riffs one after another... I know about twenty DP's songs on guitar but not all of this ! Very nice material for fans like me.
appreciate the comment, Chris.
GOOD JOB!!....Just one or two notes missing from a couple of the solo's.......And , in some cases , a little more emphasis on a couple of the chords wouldn't go amiss. But , as a lifelong Blackmore fanatic , I'd say that was Excellent!
