I hear Haydn in every note of this work. He probably wrote it for the children of the Esterhazy family who were his patrons. It has been suggested that Leopold Mozart may have written this but from what I have read about Leopold Mozart, he would have been allergic to something like this little frolic in music.

Haydn ou L. Mozart ? je ne sais pas, je ne suis pas musicologue. Par contre j'adore cette symphonie pour sa fraicheur et la gaité qu"elle contient. La direction de Zubin METHA évidemment superbe. j'imagine l'émotion des enfants et de leurs parents durant ce spectacle.
