It is likely NOT composed by Wolfgang's Dad: The Toy Symphony (full title: Cassation in G major for toys, 2 oboes, 2 horns, strings and continuo) is a musical work dating from the 1760s with parts for toy instruments, including toy trumpet, ratchet, bird calls (cuckoo, nightingale and quail), Mark tree, triangle, drum and glockenspiel. It has three movements and typically takes around seven minutes to perform. It was long reputed to be the work of Joseph Haydn,[1] but later scholarship suggested that it was actually written by Leopold Mozart.[2] Its authorship is still disputed, however, and other composers have been proposed as the symphony's true author, including Joseph Haydn's younger brother Michael Haydn, who purportedly contributed movements to the work. Leopold Mozart compos’d a cassation in G in May of 1756-here are 3 movements from the original 6 movements - but YT subscribers would have to adjust the Playbsck Speed by hand by clicking on the upper right hand corner of their screen pressing the icon (:) and toggle it down to .75 percent of normal since the conductor is scraping & scrambling through the notes like a drunken sailor - after adjustment one can get a rough idea of what it may have actually sounded like in performance in Salzburg in the year of his famous son’s birth …

I played this many many many years ago when I was a child. My fondest memory was the cuckoo player who in the minuet played "ooh-cuck" instead of "cuc-koo", which led to a huge roar of laughter from the audience and the total breakdown of the remaining orchestra. Great fun to listen to and better fun to play as well.
