I'd like to appreciate a little thing that often gets overlooked in these shows:
While Cedric was being awful to Aileen, the spectators were all clearly uncomfortable and disapproving. No one had stepped in, but no one was supporting his stance either. It's so frustrating when spectators are stupid and ignorant for the sake of drama, so seeing the people there thinking for themselves and doubting the 'main boy' is so refreshing, especially this early into the story.

I had emotional whiplash in this episode. I went from pity at Cedric's misguided simping to disgust to downright scorn. It seems Cedric truly cares for Lilia and 100% believes any and everything she says. So, he was genuinely worried for her and scared when he found out Aileen had nothing to do with Lilia's disappearance. But during the interrogation he was being so forceful and rude that even his followers were questioning his violence; Cedric gets super possessive over Aileen declaring her his property therefore he can do whatever he wants. Then when Claude shows up and Aileen is happy with him, Cedric's old inferiority complex and egotistic narcissism flares up, causing him to declare revenge for Aileen's "betrayal".
Accurate description also Cedric will go completely insane very soon so we're gonna root for his death when you see it.

The thing about inferiority is common for everyone. But the thing is whether you like it or not you have to accept the fact that nobody's perfect. There will always be someone better than you at something no matter what. Best way to solve this inferiority problem is that instead of looking at what he can do and what you can't do focus only at what you can actually do and keep getting better at it. But this guy refuses to acknowledged his own weakness and instead of improving himself he blame everyone except himself for his own weakness.

I like this scene for few reasons
1. Aileen clears her name and establishes that she has no grudge, and after her request for proof and showing her own proof of innocence shes claimed the stage as being a graceful and composed noble lady. This is an incredibly good image to paint over the one they framed her as last ball.
2. She very clearly communicates to Cedric and in doing so to his brother that she has no further interest in Cedric after his betrayal of her.
3. The previous two together shattered the evil image Cedric made of her in his head essentially reminding him why he liked her and showing him exactly what he threw away while showing off that is fiance framed her (Lillia's actions are ignored and im sure its largely due to lead female halo)
4. Cedric as a true narcissist cannot accept that what he's looking at is his own fault and in order to protect his own ego twists it into a betrayal so that he can remain the wounded and victimized prince
I cant wait to see where we go from here, if Lillia's LF Halo will ever be addressed and her true personality exposed bc I don't buy her cutesy frail act while shes also trying to push the in game scripted events to keep happening as they should even though the Villainess has literally 0 interest in her. All Aileen cares about is protecting her current footing and preventing the game's bad end trigger which will likely cause her death.
Lillia makes me think she an evil that doesn't know she's evil, someone who causally causes bad things to happen intentionally or not, and still believes she is doing the right thing. And while her having a different nature is a possibility, I doubt that is the case, and I believe she is causing all of the events of the story by just being her.
I haven't watched this yet (I think I'll try to read it somewhere), but I think him ignoring Lilia's actions has a lot to do with his narcissism and putting her on a pedestal of perfection if I'm reading him right. She can do no wrong, if only because he refuses to have his image of her shattered like that - his idea of her matters more than the reality. He'll keep making excuses and exceptions for her, especially since he believes his feelings for her are so important, other people being mad with her offends him. He's possessive of her in a way, and her own malice or not, he's like a "flying monkey" and enabler to her and her nonsense because it serves his ideas of love and how he and she have to be to make it ideal in his mind.
Also it turns out that Lillia is also an insert because she has way too much meta knowledge. That was very apparent in this episode.
@@damonlam9145 No, she's triggering the flags because Lilia has meta-knowledge of the game. That's apparent when she directly goes to the Demon Lord and talks about things that she has no business knowing but of course trigger flags that would have usually worked.

When Cedric first broke up with Aileen and Lilia said she was "sorry", my first reaction was calling her a liar because if she was truly sorry, she wouldn't have been making moves on an engaged man and how manipulative she was being. However, I wrote if off as just seeing things from the other side of the story but after this reveal, I feel like I was more right than I originally thought. When she showed up and tried to start bonding with Claude, I only got more suspicious of her.

Honestly, I really like what they do with Lilia here. It's becoming more and more obvious that she is VERY suspicious, but you can never say it with 100% certainty. It's very possible that Cedric going from being childhood friend and fiance to such blinding hatred and contempt for Aileen is partially her doing, and her faking letters and clear flirting with Claude makes her motives extremely dubious, and yet she's never shown doing an evil smirk, empty stare, or some other cliche to show her "true colors". No, in all situations she always acts like a fragile kind shoujo heroine, and that honestly makes her so much more eerie and unnerving.

I feel like she is also a reincarnated person who played the same game. So, now it becomes a real game of chess between two otome champions.

1. You let another woman get too close to you and believed her over your own fiancee without solid evidence or give your fiancee the chance to share her side of the story, ruined her social standing in school and got her expelled.
2. Betrayed whatever trust she had left in you, Cedric.
3. Swooped in and took all of the fiancee's business assets for yourself and fired several hard-working employees. All before the divorce was officially finalised. It was a bad move.
4. Sent knights to border of older brother and demon domain, accusing your ex fiancee of a crime she didn't commit and nearly violated the treaty.
Before blame, brother, maybe Cedric ought to look at himself in the mirror and face reality.
Cedric's older brother was kicked in line of succession and sent to live in isolation in forest castle with demonkind. He had to work hard for what he wanted.
Wheras Cedric was given everything on a silver platter and fed with a silver spoon, first line line to become the next king, wealth, and lovely finacee from a respected noble family. However, Got inferiority complex, and can't be grateful for what he has. He ruined a relationship with fiancè and displayed the behavior unfitting of royalty.

What makes this so much more satisfying is that at that moment: Aileen was done with the prince. She did not desire to punish him further or take his kingdom. She knows it wouldn't do her any good and is accepting the good and bad things from her experience. Thats why she had a lovely evening as opposed to her ex who had no one to dance with and had a miserable time. Even though its a game world, had he not been such a fool and saw what she did for him, he would have danced with her instead of his brother.

With those last few bits of mental dialogue I'm pretty sure he considers himself the victim in all this rather than facing the reality of the situation, personally I think his thought process must be something like "why is all of this happening to me?" as if he had nothing to do with everything that led to him feeling so distraught, the idiot prince lacks empathy and the brainpower to realize that he was ultimately responsible for what has happened to him. As the saying goes: Karma's a b***h.

Aileen is the picture of "the best revenge is a life well lived" saying and I'm absolutely here for it. Really interested to see where this story goes because Lilia is SUPER suspect. I like the going theory that she's another insert cuz I've never seen that in a series like this before, The execution of a Death Note style mind battle but in an Otome game would be FASCINATING to watch and I'm really hoping that's the path we're on.

I swear in every Villainess reincarnation story, I always believe there is more to their stories. Were they really cruel, or was their lecture to help the heroine better understand their society's ways? Lie they can't get close to another woman's fiancee or else her reputation will be frowned upon by society. Also, a cheater is always going to be a cheater. I mean, they knew that they lost the 80/20 rule. That is always to say most men get 80% of what they need from marriage, yet they tend to go after the 20% that someone outside can provide for them because it appears to be more to them when it really isn't. I swear these men don't understand that they got what they wanted, but lost what they could had have.
keep in mind in these stories hte women who riencarnated is not a terrible person which warps our perception of how the villainess actually would be like if they were not reincarnated though in some they are not a bad person
@@wolves600 There are two types of stories, to my knowledge. One where the villainess reincarneted as an innocent person turns her life around. And other where the villainess was misunderstood and her vices end up being virtues in the right context. Most of these stories nowadays tend to mix the two.
Aileen's backstory and overall personality should've been the same until the reincarnation shenanigans kicked in. Which means her "harem" of extremely talented allies was already earned by the original Aileen. She just couldn't think outside the box. She continued to love Cedric and couldn't let go. She couldn't woo Claude or even consider visiting the Demons. She didn't have the meta knowledge or use things she learned from the modern world. But... I think the anime makes a case for Aileen still being an amazing person of her own right. She could've been so much better if she could let go of things holding her down. That's what the Isekai reincarnation shenanigans enabled.
