Question: my father recently passed away and his family is into ancestral worship, they want to do a cleansing since his passing. Does the cleansing fall under ancestral worship?
The main question I think is, cleansing, what’s to be cleansed? And what can cleanse better than the blood of Jesus. I’d be cautious about it. I remember in a certain tradition that they wanted to conduct special prayers at a late fathers grave but the main family said no, because they serve the God of the living and if you couldn’t pray for the person while alive, what’s that prayer that makes it so special that it has to be conducted at the grave, and why do animals have to be slaughtered, even if they will be eaten but still blood will be shed somehow. The enemy is very tricky.

I would say so, based on what my own family used to do. We used to slaughter an animal and they would speak at the corner of the homestead. Besides that when you go to the grave, the tendency is to speak to the dead. This is against the will of God, we know as christians we are only meant to pray to the one true God.

God is annoyed with Kikuyu tribe because they have turned back to worshiping ancestors (ngomi) sacrificing for dead people...
It is wrong but most tribes in Kenya do it, not only Kikuyu.
