I just did a transmission conversion on my 2016 Mustang GT from Manual to Automatic (don't ask why). I am having to reprogram just about EVERYTHING and this video was very helpful to me. Thanks for taking the time to create and share it!

Can you use passthru device to perform asbuilt data if the old abs module is not communicating, and you have new unit, can a passthru device with fmp software perform asbuilt data, transfer without vcm
Do you need to leave the old module in and turn the key to the one position first before putting the old module out, put the new one in and then plug the software in?

Hey mate, So when you inhale can you find and edit the file that was inhaled. Then change the VIN with hex and exhale it back into the new pcm?

Do you have to do this on a 1989 Ford ranger, I have replaced the master cylinder, power booster hydraulic module, rear speed sensor and my brake and antilock brake lights stay on.I ran the codes any got code 4 which is the rab s module.could this be a false reading. This stuff makes me mad. No reason your ABS needs to have ViN number to serve its function. Its sole function is to keep your brakes from locking up and keeping your car stable in the event of hard braking. Just seems like a Dealership money sync to me.
completely agree with you... just to get more money from the consumer. on a technical point though these modules are generic and they require to be programmed to the specific vehicle and since it works on SUV or a compact car the VIN is used to get the right software and the right data for example GVW speed ratings transmission type and so forth and so on... I am not a big fan of FORD myself but that is the way they do business so if you don't like it don't buy their products. I stay as far from Ford as possible unless I have to work on it since I am a Mechanic by trade. have a nice day!!!

U can use a different used model if part number is same u will have a vin mismatch code but will work the same and the code won’t turn the light on

Good evening I'm from venezuela I have a ford explorer and it has codes p0011 p0018 p2006 and p2007 imrc you hear noise inside as if the gears were broken. The p0011 code I think you have problem vtc bank 1 and problems p0018 Camshaft Phaser bank 2 and I am not sure if I need to replace it. Please could you give me your opinion that I should do thank you very much

I have a VCM but the biggest thing about it is that Ford requires you to have software running current on it in order to use the tool and if you don't do enough business to require it constantly it will cost you a whole lot of money. And is hard to get a return on your investment. Great tool though. And for requires you to buy it at a year at a time. So I thought I would put that in there.

Hello brother, my car is Ford Mustang v6 model 2013, the ABS brake unit module is damaged, and I got a healthy used module (the technical code of the modules are the same), after installing the module, when the computer is connected to the car I got a non-support error! Can I give this new used ABS module a program to be compatible with the car and fix it?
Thank u Brian!! I am sure Ford charges a pretty penny for that program. The things required would b a laptop, the little gizmo u plug into the DCL and the program u rent for a year. Correct?

Hi, recently my 2006 ford showing weird behaviors ( Speedometer not working, Not more than 3000RPM, No odometer reading, ABS light on, Brake light on). Ford service confirmed that ABS module is not responding. So a local Workshop guy replaced with around 3 used ABS modules, but still its been same issue(U0121). If we connect to this Software and reprogram, will it work? Please kindly help
I replaced my abs module on my 2005 expedition using my autel maxisys elite by going to program module instalation, copy data ftom old module still in vehicle then scanner will tell you to install new one and done. Took less than 10 minutes

+Saad Hasan Most of the time you will need to be online to get the calibration file from the server. It will prompt you if need be.

I am working on a 2003 Lincoln LS V8. I have the ABS light on..Scan tool shows DTC in ABS as C1998 which is re-calibration of ABS. Is there a way that I can do this my self without taking it to a dealer or shop? All wheel sensors are working properly according to live data on scanner. I think this is due to dropping the steering assembly to the floor for a while when removing the dash for AC evap core replacement. I have an Autel MaxiCOM MK808 ..No bi-directional control, but does about everything else..thanks

I had my computer replaced in my 2003 ford expedition and ever since the abs light has been on. I was told it's because the abs has to be programmed to the new computer. would this procedure work in turning my abs light off?

Using an Autel MS908 Elite ,Trying to do the IVD calibration procedure correctly and so far it's not working on an 04 Expedition to address the C1998 Module calibration failure code and a flashing traction symbol. The Tool says to start engine and turn wheel from one stop to the other stop. It does not say in which direction (left or right) to initiate , turn slowly? Should I Hold wheel at each stop a couple seconds? Should I Return wheel back to center position after going from one stop to the other. The vehicle is on level ground with fully inflated tires though three of the four original TPMS sensors no longer work anymore. Do you know the more specific detailed Ford instructions for doing this procedure? Thanks Brian

BSG Automotive man I need your help, I have 2006 escape hybrid 4x4, I have abs light and brake light on with brake service on the screen, I changed bother tone rings, they were broken, when I push the brake I hear the abs pump running even when the car is off, should I try bleeding brake/ abs? and does forscan do that? or is the abs module bad? if I buy used one can I program it with forscan? please help me out .

I have this tool and am trying to program a second hand ABS module for the vehicle which is a 2007 BF Falcon 1 tonner. The problem is I dont have the old module to do the inhale exhale is there a way of doing it still??
Why do they not answer the questions? I just had someone bring me a 2008 Mariner, they replaced the master, lines, and abs module. then towed it to me. People should not try to fix things at home when they don't know what they are diving into. SMH Who jumps off the high dive before looking down to see if there is water in the pool???????????
You can rebuild using the AS BUILT data.

A used module can be used if the part numbers match. It's a slightly different process using "PMI" or programmable module installation procedure
Had ford flash the pcm and tcm on my 2wd 04 5.4l f150 because the previous owner had replaced the abs module and i had a vin mismatch code. I still have the abs light on and a vin mismatch code. My question is... Do they need to do a spesific abs calibration or should flashing the pcm and tcm do the job?
Have them run PMI on the new module with it disconnected at first so the IDS cannot get vin information from it then once they enter the PMI process reconnect it. Then it will prompt them for the as built data to be input manually.

what effects does a defective ABS module have on normal braking, if any ? I drive a 2008 Lincoln Nav, the ABS and brake (emergency) lights came on, and the brakes seem to have become less responsive when light braking, the car will keep coasting, until I brake harder. any input is great. thank you in advance.

No you cannot . Traction control system includes the Engine control module as well for throttle controlling

My truck is Ford 2008 Explorer do I need to update the latest calibrations for other module as well and from where can I get there calibration files. Man you are awesome. However. Story short f. Explorer 2014. I changed ABS Put a new one I am no mechanic and didnt know it requires configuration. "Initial conf. Not completed" is message on scan tool. Very pissed at the moment because I live in Orlando FL and cannot find someone to do what you shows on the video. Even some dealers giving me Be because they did not installed it an some are saying it will be close to a 1000 to put one with guarantee. It sucks when you try to safe money and some places still wants to screw you over. The abs I installed is brand new original bought on line from ford itself. It sucks that they do not sell these type of parts with out loopholes even though you provide vin# which automatically should set product with right configuration. Is like when you installed a new mouse on your computer the system recognize the new hardware and CONFIGURE IT WITHOUT A FUSS. Sorry Man just wanted to vent. Again you are awesome I watch a lot of your videos. Wish you had a shop near my location.
This is great for mechanics for hire, but for us back alley mechanics and hobbyist's, why not swap out the electronic module from the old to new hydraulics piece and avoid the programming cost?

You probably do. I have an 02 Ford with a Abs module fault. Doing some research, it does have to be reprogrammed. You can try Forscan for about $25 Amazon

Yeah you have to pull the info out of your old one before you unplug it. Just follow ford reprogramming instructions.

Customer showed up with a 2008 Edge, new ABS module already in place (and of course, ABS /Traction control lamps lit). Request is for a reflash. In the absence of the inhale data, can I just pull the data through module reprogramming, the use PMI to reflash? Just dont want to brick this new module by going at it wrong.
Found my own answer- IDS procedure says that a PMI must be completed, add As-built data, then an IVD initialization.... easy as pie ;)

+BSG Automotive I've been getting sporadically a "service RSC" light and scanner showed a C1440 code (08 mountaineer ) according to forums its a failed abs sensor in the brake master cylinder. You agree thats what can cause it?
+Leah Friedman No on this truck for this code either there is air in the hydraulic system or the pressure sensor which is internal to the HCU on this year must be replaced as an assembly with the HCU.

Not uncalibrated , but not every bit of wear and tear can be calculated when the original calibrations are issued. Sometimes we need to expand the code setting criteria and this is done through programming

I really like doing my own work on my 09 Escape but this new technology makes it really hard for someone like me to do that. I dont have 25k to get all these tools and software. This is horrible. I like the older cars. At least I could work on my 95 Jeep. 😠
