Bishop Chandler David Owens doesn't whoop or holler, BUT he was one of the GREATEST Preacher's ever produced by the Church of God in Christ. I love the way he weaves his messages. He was such a GREAT storyteller !!!!

@Lyles music Actually, he was right. JO Patterson Sr. was indeed the presiding bishop when GE returned to COGIC, however, JO & GE didn't have a great relationship. GE didn't like the way JO ran the church or treated his father WA Patterson, who was JO's brother. He left COGIC, but CD Owens who was his close friend, asked & campaigned for him to come back to the church, telling JO, he would be a great asset to COGIC. So yes, Bishop Owens was the SOLE reason GE Patterson returned to the church. I'll tell you one more layer to the story, although JO Patterson reluctantly agreed to bring GE back, he told CD Owens it was a mistake & that GE would be a problem. That was in the late 80s, fast forward to 2000 & it would be GE Patterson that would challenge & unseat a sitting Presiding Bishop for the first time in COGIC history. That Presiding Bishop was none other than his close personal friend, CD Owens. How ironic...I know this info because my father is a pastor & worked in the national church for a long time. Most of it is common knowledge, but the fact that JO didn't want GE back in the church isn't as public.

Bishop Chandler Owens is the only one who can get away with giving a sermonette when he suppose to introduce the eulogist, Bishop Charles E. Blake. Honeslty, after Bishop Owens, there was no need for Bishop Blake to preach. LOL! COGIC!
When I watch the Home Going of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson on that day.. I said the same thing, Only Bishop Chandler David Owens could have got away with this... He called him brother Blake.
He is the only Bishop besides The Presiding Bishop that is allow to wear the 2 seals of the office of presiding Bishop that's become the late Right Revered Bishop G. E. Patterson 6th Presiding Bishop (COGIC ) Bishop Patterson Personally give him those two seals of the office of Presiding Bishop We just beileve That once a president always president - Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson referring to Bishop Owns so He was and is the only presiding Bishop and Bishop in general in the entire COGIC organization that is able to preach a sermontte message before he does what he was asked to do and nobody stops him or says Bishop Owens you can't do that because they all know he is the greatest Gospel Preacher that ever stepped foot on the COGIC platform and then there was Bishop Patterson and then Bishop Blake I love those Men Of God they are definitely the real deal 100%
