    Thanks for the review.
    We are now using three cheap (29,-€) folding chairs (Berger Comfort from Camping Berger) for over 5 years.
    Packed, they are the double the size and the weight is 5kg. But they take no time to unfold. And I mean no time, because you grab them out of the car and unfold and place them in one move. No wind issue and no trouble, when some hole got burned in them standing near the campfire.
    They have proper armrests and the back is high enough to rest your head. Also very important for us is the multipurpose use for relaxing AND sitting at the table. On those the seat is flat, high and strong enough to also sit more on the front edge of the chair.
    Shure not the same high quality and fancy as the Helinox but you get far more for your money. Its another compromise towards more weight and less money.

    Thanks for the review, I’ve been wondering about the Savanna chair for a while; was waiting for the coyote tan to come back into stock which they have last week, and your review tipped me over the edge and I just bought it… plus the cheap ground peg… so thanks for the tip :-)

    Hello! I have recently started camping, and I have been on the fence about Savanna for a while now. Honestly I was headed in a direction to skip out on Helinox, but after watching this video I'm finally sold. I think your review touched on all the points that a person like me were interested in knowing, so thank you for helping me make the decision :)

    Excellent and well thought out review. Thank you! I have a Chair 2, which is low like the chair one but has a high back. Its a good height for young kids and once you get youself snug and reclined its quite comfy (I am average height) - But the trade-off of the slightly more weight and size, for a heap of extra comfort I think makes the Savanna a better option for most. Cheers

    I wish they made a Savanna Zero. Exact same chair, but Zero’s material, poles, and lower it. Maybe even remove the cup holders and pillow flap. Bring it down from 4.2lbs to 2.6 lbs, and pack smaller.

      @@AlloffroadAu it sacrifices a lot from the Chair One and Two to shave off 2/5ths of the weight. Basically the things I listed. I just ordered the savanna for motorcycle camping though. I think backpacking, I’ll just stick to finding flat ground or a nice boulder. Maybe eventually buy a Zero.

    As i love my sunset chairs so much, and i just dealt with Helinox warranty department and they are so easy to deal with, I will order 2 Savanah chairs for Christmas. I dealt with the warranty as my great niece basically abused my Sunset at a family gathering and Sunset refused to sell me the parts saying that the chair was still under warranty. That is called good customer service on a 4 year old chair.

    Thanks for the review. I'm even taller than you (6' 8"), and I'm looking for an ultralight chair. This is the biggest one in terms of dimensions I can find, do you think it would be big enough (I appreciate nothing is going to be perfect as with many things when you are bigger)? With regards to your suggested improvements, Helinox could solve two of them in one go... The chair anchor could also double up as a leg strap to aid packing down. Thanks again.

    Great video. How tall are you and how long is the back rest on the savanna chair? I am 202cm and I am afraid that my skull or neck area would hit the top frame of the char. Or the normal bent backwards neck I usually acheive on chairs.

    How does the Helinox chair compare to the Caribee Crossover chair that you reviewed a few weeks ago? There is obviously a weight difference but what about ease and speed of setup/packup and more importantly comfort?

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Před 2 lety +1

      Caribee is similar in setting up probably 15 seconds quicker, Caribee pack in same sometimes takes a little to get it in the bag. Caribee chairs are in my Camper Trailer where weight and space is not such an issue and my cair often stays the whole day around the fire. Overall comfort is similar but for longer sitting I prefer Caribee simply because of proper arm rest and longer seat base.

    Instead of drilling the leg just tie a guy rope round the centre bar & then also use that to wrap the legs as you pack the chair up. Think I've owned my pair of Sunsets about the same length of time as you & had one close call with a flyaway, which was when I added the guy ropes like this to mine.
    Enjoy the Savannah's, I reckon I would've gone for them if they were available at the time & may do when I eventually get to overland globally. Saying that, my Sunsets don't look like they'll be giving up anytime soon so I may end up dragging them around.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Před 2 lety

      yea thought about middle bar as well but more rope hanging around when not used, find the foot quite good as it only requires a short bit of rope but whatever prevents them from flying in the fire is good :-). Yes they definitely last my Sunset is now used by the kids and after 3 years still no wear and tear except a little dirt.

    • @gaj5701
      @gaj5701 Před 2 lety

      @@AlloffroadAu The only reason I used the centre bar is due to it being fixed, as in a flyaway the leg may pop out of the boss as the chair lifts, which could allow it to get very close to a fire. Probably overthinking it as the bungee cord is pretty good but, as said, it works for packing up too. Gonna try the velcro instead & hopefully that does the same, but better 😀

    Yes he mentioned it: the biggest disadvantage is the weight! :-) good review! :-)
    I have and use since about five years many models and yes a little wind and the are blown away quickly.
    For the rest: I do agree everything and yes you gave me the best idee: just make an anker routine! 🙂
    You don't have to drill really, just wrap a tie clever around the base and use a convenient peg as an anker depending of course of where you are.
    BUT one thing mister BIG FOOTPRINT :-) the environment: don't you know that your habit of making fires are not so good or rather VERY BAD fore the environment?
    So only make a fire and camping at all if you LEAVE NO TRACE afterwards and only if you really need a fire for safety or staying warm.
    🙂 But for the rest: a good review also about the leg base: yes for some the Helinox chairs are rather small.
    For some but you have a lot of choice with them.
    Friendly environmental greetings from the Netherlands, Onno Nugteren.

      Thanks for your feedback, in regards to the campfires In a country where thousands and sometimes millions of acres per year are burned through wildfires, a small controlled campfire has little environmental impact; as a matter of fact, indigenous people practised fire-stick farming for 10th of thousands of years, and we still have controlled back burns every year.

      @AlloffroadAu  Před 2 lety +1

      I have been there as well, I started with a $18 bunnings chair that didn't didn't last long and was quite uncomfortable. As long as stuff last and is comfortable paying a bit more is ok. I have seen to many broken $20 chairs left in camp sites and fire pits where people can't bother to take them back out.

    Hmmm definitely a very good product but the issues caused by the light weight is a very real issue and would be annoying IMO.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  Před 2 lety +1

      yes moving around is an issue, but to be honest I have done ok given how much I camp and how long the chair lasted, need to find a dual purpose weight which can be used to weight chair down next to doing something else. Maybe a little sand bag over middle bar.
