Yes, Donovan Mitchell is the type of player you go all-in for. Love Reaves and I'm a fan of Rui but at this point in Bron's twilight years you have to go for the more experienced and established star.

Mitchell is becoming more injury prone each year. My concern is he could become the diminished player Kemba Walker became with the Celtics. Small athletic guards tend to drop off their physical Cliff very suddenly.

If free agent history for super max contracts have shown us anything it’s that the player will always sign the super max and get their money, and then force a trade later to their preferred destination.
Mitchell on the lakers would also help him defensively because he wouldn’t have to do every damn thing offensively

Here's the thing I think people don't want to report or say. If I'm the cavs, why would I trade him right away unless I get blown away by an offer. In fact, in their case, I would suggest they are best off waiting until the trade deadline and perhaps trading him then. They may be able to convince him to stay, or at least he can help them get into the playoffs. This notion he's gonna be available right away is foolish. Look at things from the cavs' perspective, and you'll see truth.

As long as the team isn't literally LeBron, AD, Mitchell, and all minimum contracts, I'd offer everything. We do need some usable players beyond just the three star players. They can take all of the seconds if that helps. Three firsts? They're already yours if you just sign the paper. Who gives af about three first-round picks that you don't even know what you can pick if Donovan Mitchell is available.
If the parts fit you go all in. This isn’t Westbrook. Look at the Celtics they aren’t being cheap they have 4 max players. It can work the parts just need to fit and with Mitchell it does.

They still manage to choke tho but their fans don’t call for trades and firings like most Laker fans do. They also haven’t won a title since 2008 there is that too.

As long as they don't have a horrendous night, they're going to win against most of their competition even if some players don't show up. There aren't very many free wins in the West so it's much more important that players actually consistently perform. Lots of people have complained about the Celtics for years, Tatum in particular.

If they complain about Tatum for his poor play in crucial playoff games Brown should get just as much if not more complaints. Either way, Boston doesn’t turn on their players like lakers fans do. Every fan base complains about their star players for some reason or another but they don’t usually go as far as slandering them and threatening their families etc just because they lost a game. For the Lakers, I think it's only worth committing another 35% of their cap to a player if he's a two way beast. I don't think Donovan Mitchel is that. This year Dlo had stretches of All NBA caliber play, and even with that the Lakers were still flaky. If you're losing Dlo you need 2 or 3 2 way players in place, getting another prolific scorer and shot creator won't change the team that much.

I still don’t think this team needs a superstar PG, they just need a good floor general (rondo/mike Conley type). Would rather use those trade pieces for a legit wing and back up center as well. Notice all the tops teams are well built teams and not big 3.
This is just the Russell Westbrook trade 2.0. Teams are not looking to help the Lakers build a championship team and Cleveland is no different. I don't think Donavan Mitchell is going anywhere considering how close they are to being a legitimate playoff team and maybe a future contender. I think the Lakers need to just work on building a team that can stay together for more than one season. The constant changing of players is what makes the Lakers inconsistent. At this point, if Lebron wants to insinuate that he might want to leave the Lakers, then cut him loose already because his history in the league shows that he is fair weathered and not loyal to any team.
