  • The Lakers will heavily explore the trade market this offseason, could they bring back Brandon Ingram? A recent rumor links LA to their former 2nd overall pick; Trevor Lane breaks down what a deal would look like. Plus, is Jonas Valanciunas the guy to target in free agency to play with Anthony Davis? And the mailbag brings plenty of questions about D'Angelo Russell..

knowing def rebounds is one of the big issues for Lakers, playing AD at 5 and Bron at 4 will continue to possess a major problem down the road as Bron is NOT able to help with def rebounds anymore. Hence, I think the #1 priority is a big center who can help with def rebounds and guard Jokic and Towns. Otherwise, we will never have an oppty to get out of West to Final. Agree?

Agree. All these fantastical trade talks--for players they had or "all stars" that in my view won't help--is annoying.
If all of this talk is just heresay and hypotheticals, why not throw someone really worthwhile in the mix, like Jalen Duren, a physical big who actually plays big in the paint?
Or, hell, bring back Dwight Howard or someone who could actually anchor the D.
I'm sick of seeing this team centered around a fragile AD and an aging Lebron's future, and Pelinka crippling the cap with third tier options, just to fill out the roster and put them in another play-in.

Always got love for Trae but I'd argue he is the direct opposite of what we need, and now we're potentially looking at a very injury prone wing who has never turned up in the POs?? Not to mention the money/cap issues involved. It sucks to say this again, but fringe moves for real depth is the only thing the FO should be concerned with. Kyrie or Myles was the Lakers last chances to bring in Perfect Fits for pairing beside LeBron & A.D, but Pelinka Bin mess it up.
So why would the Pelicans trade Ingram to the Lakers when they want to pull a Spurs next season with the Lakers by having LeBron leave for the Sixers, Lakers end up being trash and they get their pick next season? Plus the Lakers have no salary to trade.

With the 17th pick look for Daron Holmes and Kel'l Ward, they are the next level iteration of Naz Reid.
JJ Redick/ Sam Cassell are the coaches of the Lakers, they are more knowledgeable of the game than any of the current candidates that have been considered. They are your coach that will take the team far into the future as well as a minimal contract initially. They will manage the locker room along with input from veterans LeBron and AD; they are players coachs and understands the needs of there coaching staff. We need two real bigs, Valanciunas/Drumond/Dwight ( ie 2020 chip) along side AD, we need a six man, Dramond/Bobby Portes etc. We need a two way guard to manage Jamall Murry and Anthony Edwards.... Demar/Donavan/Caruso/Keli Ubrea/Marcus Smart/JaMonte Murray/Brogden/Gary Trent etc.
We have our assets, picks, mid level exceptions, and minimum contracts.

Murray should be at the top of the list of stars, or borderline stars, to get. I'm not a fan of any of the other possible trade candidates simply because everyone else is injury-prone. Murray has shown he is not afraid of big moments and that he has the ability to play good to above-average defense. On top of that, he has a fair to undervalued contract, which is why a player like Reaves is so sought after.
Murray for 2x 1st Rd Picks + Max Christie (Sign and Trade) Rui + JHS. Likely a three-team trade.
Reaves for 17th pick for Caruso and Torrey Craig.
I’m a big fan of both Reaves and Christie, but if the Lakers are trying to maximize LeBron's possible last year of playing at an elite level, they need to go all-in on creating a starting five that can play well with one another and has very few holes. This is under the premise that the Lakers do not re-sign DLo, allowing them to aggregate contracts, and it opens up the MLE of about $13 million, which will allow them to bring in another good role player. Hopefully, Isaiah Hartenstein (wishful thinking) or Valanciunas to fill that backup center position, which the Lakers have been desperate to fill since Dwight and McGee left. This would be my ideal outcome.
    Starting 5:
    -AD
    -Bron
    -Vando
    -“The Bald Mamba”
    -Murray
    Bench:
    -Hartenstein
    -Wood
    -Torrey Craig
-Vet Minimum Player or Bronny - Not likely to play much in the playoffs.
-Vincent (which I’m expecting a bounce back year)
