loud noises affect me just as much as quiet ones, but using earphones might make it a little worse because the sound is more detailed and doesn’t kinda ..fade into the air? it really is an interesting topic and sadly not much research has been done, but some progress is being made and there’s a bit more awareness! in case you’re interested, there’s a youtube channel that i discovered lately, which is called misophonia international that has educational videos on the topic that felt very accurate to me from what i’ve seen so far!
i’m currently seeing a psychologist because i have depression, anxiety and ocd tendencies too (saying this because the symptoms might be slightly related in my fucked up brain), i’m generally very sensitive and my senses have always been very, very sharp (a blessing and a curse lol) so i’m used to some of these symptoms, like they’re not news to me, and i just started working on it with him through exposure therapy, slowly, in a safe space. we don’t know much about it since recovery methods have yet to be found, but we’re doing our best. just adding that connections between ocd and misophonia were thought to happen but there isn’t enough evidence to make a clear statement about it. though i still feel like to get the full picture of the condition, talking to the people who actually experience it will give you the best sense of understanding.
